Videos like this are helpful. A year ago someone tried to scam me with this pattern. Framed made a video about this a bit ago. I didn't know how it worked, but I knew there was weird mechanics just outside ferox so I was able to save myself from being scammed.

So a couple guys did try this on me. I was at the ferox barrier when logic won but the reason there’s such an impulse to step over (atleast in my case) is that I’m the bait to get the scammer to drop the (in my case ) full torva. The scammer wants you to think that u and him are plotting against the scammer. Scammer drops torva, I’m supposed to telegrab and “obviously” get dragged out so don’t. All I need to do is be the bait to get them to drop torva and my “buddy” logs in under to pick up items. The thought process is that I’m safe if I don’t try to telegrab. I step out, they drop items, “friend” logs in and picks them up. But since we punch the guy, they just attack you. I never thought I’d fall for it. And I didn’t….. but I hovered that barrier. I was close.

Kemp, that exact same lure happened to me. This guy named "Raysaki" added me on OSRS and then on Discord. 2 weeks went by of just normal chatting and then asked me to get into a call with him because there was items on the ground. Then got me to do what happened to that guy :/ it was at Ferox Enclave on the bridge side. The bridge was supposed to be safe. :/

I remember almost falling for this scam, and by almost, I did, but I was stopped by my CC before I got to the actual scam part. I was scouted because I was doing zulrah with a twisted bow kit and a guy long conned me for about half a year, we did raids together, corp, and other pvm stuff I remember getting and splitting about 500k and a whip with the guy because we "anti lured" someone he "Learned about" Excited, I tell my CC what I just done and they told me that I was being long conned, I ask the guy and the guy immediately denies everything, but once realizing the jig was up, switched to the nasty personality they always had, but hid. Its crazy how much effort people will go through when they know what you are worth.

This lure was attempted on me last week, but was a bit different. I was on a discord call with the scammer. I logged In and missed the arcane. He then said we got too greedy and logged in too fast - manipulating me the whole time. He suggested we wait at a populated world and try to do repeat the anti-lure. I went, and instantly got pm'd. They had me go to the Woodcutting guild bank and had me show me items in a trade window. The guy on discord was telling me to rotate my camera so he could "see" where they "drop" the items. I was then told to remove the items out of the trade window, 1 by 1. At that very moment, I realized they were going to close the trade window - which would then make my player run out into the danger zone. Luckily, I had my guard up the whole time and realized it. I cussed the guys life out over discord voice, banked my gear and teleported out. Be careful, it's all too good to be true.

There's no confusing mechanic, YOU as a player should 100% know that the instant you leave ferox onclave through the red barrier that WARNS you that you are ABOUT to go into the wild and to not bring anything you aren't willing to lose out there. It is 100% your fault or whoever's fault if you decide to step through that barrier. The game legit has it in the game for a reason to warn you. Same with the wilderness ditch. People just need to not be retarded xD

This scam is one of the oldest ones in the book. Maybe not down to the specific mechanics of it, but the general idea of befriending through clans or messaging, and luring them to a place not immediately considered to be dangerous; basically as old as the game itself.

I lost a tbow and max range set to a ‘friend’ who spent MONTHS social engineering my friends and myself. Literally the guy would cam up on discord sat in his home and spent 6 months in our clan to be able to take them We were a close knit friend group and I was too trusting with him. Lesson learned. It's a rite of passage for my accounts that once they hit max combat and decent total level, I trade a tbow and a few bil over from my main and look for this scammer. I always take the whips and cash and dip. As soon as items are required I know there is risk involved. I also flame a ton and report every account I see.
