Is Ausangate Trek Worth It? Four Reasons I Loved It.

Ausangate is such an incredible trek. The views up there are so unique and even cartoon like. I did it in November so it wasn't as cold but there was more rain and significant thunderstorms and night and evenings. The fact that there aren't more hikers out there is surprising but such a blessing compared to other parts of Peru. Choquequirao is another that similar to Ausangate does not get enough credit.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this trek. We're targeting a May 2022 trip to Ausungate for your number 1 reason - a big, epic international hike that isn't overrun with hordes of other hikers.

Hey Dusty, Great Video ......How were the stargazing views on this trip? Is the Milky Way clearly visible?

It was amazing but also very cold. We slept beneath a glacier the second night and the runoff was flowing when we arrived and frozen solid the morning after.

Heyy you said that's a cold weather over there, how much cold it was??

Running water froze at night. It was very cold but I am not sure exactly how cold.
