Hi there. I coach basketball in Spain. I’m 52. The kids I coach are 14. I’ve seen terrific performances in this video. No question about that. Outstanding level. However the behaviour of some of these kids and parents are far away from what I tolerate. The lack of respect for the opponent is sad. Too much violence. Maybe, if they are lucky, one or two of these kids will make it to profesional. Not more. However, all of them will become adults, and not all are the kind of adults I would like to be living by my family. I understand that USA and Spain are different, countries (we have our bullies too) but education, respect and tolerance are universal values. I always tell my kids that without opponents there is no game. You can win or loose, that has nothing to do with having the right attitude on the court.

Well TikTok YT and IG are teaching them. The parents are from FB gen so they’re just pulled into assuming they can get likes. It’s degeneration as in opposition to generation. What’s being passed down now is a my moment culture. One where any and all moments are my moment. Just look at the dad with “it’s going viral” take. Say that in the 90’s nobody would have a clue what you’re talking about.

Many of these talented kids will get scholarships while some will disappear from view forever. Among those getting scholarships many will fade after or during college. Of those who rise in D1 ranks only a very few will make the splash into the NBA>>others will go overseas. On another note, the arrogance of some is a bit annoying to an old head like I am who grew up watching Jerry West, Walt Frazier, Dr J, Tiny Archibald and a host of others. These guys kicked a*s consistently and consistently did it without taunting. We are in a new age now when u see shorties under 10 yrs old gesturing and taunting.

How did we get to this point? I don't care how good you can play basketball, when you're terrible, you're just plain terrible. If I was the coach, and I had a great player that acted like that towards the opposing team's players, that kid would be benched. I wouldn't care if they left the team. It's a sad world, and I think they're only hope is Jesus Christ. It's not too late for them to be redeemed, but they better hurry! The clock is ticking.

Football is a contact 100% contact sport yet they don’t get into so many altercations like basketball. This sport transitioned from a sport that was well mannered into a foul mouth and major attitude platform. I blame it on the the connection to hip hop music. The NBA has become an extension to hip hop culture, and this is the result. But hey, as long as it is making millions of $$$ it’s all good!
