Selling beats online is not the main goal, but the overall goal. People get the cart and never put it on the horse and say “Aww this thing is a scam” but you have to create engagement and provide a reason for the music you provide. Discovery is fine but it’s long especially in the days of algorithms. You will never get the push you want in any algorithm without getting out and creating engaging conversations and interactions.

I made a few hundred $$$ off selling beats back in 2020/2021 when I first started making beats and posting them on traktrain. Then I shifted focus to making songs with artists I’d meet in my local areas and developing myself as an artist. But the key point to me selling beats was DAILY consistency and strategizing and focus on building an online music business for myself. It’s amazing getting paid for doing what you love but it takes dedicated work, that’s for sure. Now I make money from in person studio sessions or personal relations with artists, but looking at rebuilding my online music business

The last time I sold a beat was 2016. The whole reason I started making beats was to have something to rap to. Now I think it’s coming full circle for me to consider that my beats are moreso for myself and my vocal timbre than anyone else’s. Sure, with that mindset, I won’t make any money from this; but, I have a distinct sound when you pair my vocals with my beats. That, I think, will get me farther than selling a lease here and there will.

for me beatstars has been hella weak, but my cashapp and apple pay been boomin. I'm finding that artists need producers they can trust and get to know for the long haul. I think they rather have that 1 on 1 interaction as opposed to just buying beats. Just my experience tho i speak for myself.

the market for beats globally will only go up , for now the usa might be in an economic slowdown which is temporary and the sales are not booming like when they were when people were getting stimulus checks but this year the sales are going back up, the fact is producers (industry and online ) are making a lot more money than they were making 5 years ago and producers will me making a whole lot and i mean a lot more money than they are making right now in 5 years because the market will be bigger (1.5 o 2 times bigger to be exact ). so anybody who"s crying that selling beats is dead well you guys are lazy and incompetent and for those kind of people everything is dead . my estimate is in 2030 it wont be a big deal if some top producers do a million in revenue from beat sales in a year .

@@tisbutascratch9374 Yeah I lived in LA for ten years, and he’s very representative of what the Entertainment Industry is like. Extremely talented Actors, Producers, Directors, Musicians, almost all of which are not all there. He ghost wrote for a bunch of celebrities, but never ended up making a name for himself, just money. So he’s very talented and very bitter. And he said he grew up very hood, and his behavior does seem to kind of reflect that. He will go from super friendly to spending 4 hours ranting at someone. The real reason he doesn’t like anonymous people is that he can’t doxx and bully them. Makes the people around him easier to control and coerce when he knows who they are to defame them later. One guy who tried to take one of his courses got on his bad side, and the first thing he said he would do is post his id and address lol. But like I said, still is worth a listen for some insight into music and the industry when he’s focused on that. Basically just ignore the person and accept the insight, like we have to do with most art nowadays.
