For me it's a feeling of being a part of something. I was born 300 yards from the West Brom stadium and raised beneath its shadow. That feeling of community that surrounds the place is something you can never quite understand until you've been brought up with it for so long. Every weekend you see similar faces, faces of people that share the exact same passion as you, all craving the same thing; 3 points for the Albion. It doesn't matter where you sit or who you're sat next to, you know that that person next to you has experienced all the pain and suffering of relegation, the shite football on display at times under Pulis, heartbreaking defeats, playoff losses - the lot. You don't know the person, but they're almost like family as you share a love for something, a support for something much bigger than yourselves, a football club that's been here longer than any of us, and will (hopefully) be here long after we've departed this world..You live for those ecstasy moments, the ones you'll tell your grandkids about; but we'll all keep supporting even if those ecstasy don't come because we've never known any different, as I'm sure any football supporter who supports their local team will also know. It's our club, and it's our family. It isn't fun. It's a necessity. You support because you have to, not because you want to.

I think the most importamt thing is to focus your love on the game, not just your team. People seem to think their team is the be all and end all in terms of their support, and sometimes focus to much on that 1 team. Sure, it's great to support a team and to go through the good and bad times, but i feel that when that becomes the main focus of detremining if you're a true supporter, people just end up arguing or making assumptions which is kind of sad. If you support multiple teams in different countries, leagues, divisions etc, that's fine, you support them for differnt reasons! If someone played football all their life, watched their local team, but knew nothing about the big leagues or players, would you call them a football fan? Yes, of course you would. You don't have to view football as a religion to be a true fan! If you're passionate about the beautiful game, you should be accepted as a fan, no matter how you show that love for the game. My basic point is: Keep an open mind to the game as a whole, and focus on why you, and other people around you love the game, rather than judge other fans based on who they support and where they come from.

My personal best feeling was last season. I'm a Torquay United fan and recently we've had a huge fall with being relegated from the football league into the conference. Our owner decided to fuck us over and sell the club to a cash strapped consortium of 10 people and we haven't been able to pay players huge amounts of money to come play for us. Last season, in February, we were 12 point from safety and it was looking bleak- we went to Boreham Wood away and had the most fans at the game, we won this game 2-0 and from then on we went on a run that saw us clinch safety away at Bromley. Even though there was so many low points in he season it still has to be the best season I've ever experienced as a Torquay fan.

Jake BM it's not about supporting your local team but you really should. I live in the US and support The Philadelphia Union but also support my family club Manchester United who my great grandfather supported since they were Newton Heath then it carried onto me, and I will pass it down. There's loads of fans like me that don't live near their club their family has been supporting throughout the generations. If you're in an unprivileged area, you look up to the fantastic players like Ronaldo and Messi because they were also poor. If you only support a club like Real Madrid and you're in a different country, you better get really educated about the club and be able to make good arguments for them. You're wrong.

When you support any other team there’s very little glory so again not very fun.

But if youre a fan of the big teams, you have to beat the very best or win a cup to get that same feeling. 2015 was one of the worst years in madrid history, and i was pretty depressed for most of it. Yes we won many games, but did it matter? We still lost a club legend, were behind in the league. Lost the CL to the ''easiest opponent''. Had benitez playing boring shit tactics. No, it wasnt fun. What a win is for a small team is normal for a big one, thus not giving it the feeling.

Football is an adrenaline rush that honestly dictates my mood (not sure if that's healthy or not). Football brought me my closest friends, relationships, love. Football was probably my first love. Why? Football is a lot like life, you endure the lows to reach even bigger highs! 3-0 to winning the CL in Istanbul. 3-1 down to winning the FA Cup. Football always finds a way to correct itself and give you incredible moments you cant forget in settings that make your body tingle for more. Football can bring the world together

this has been baffling me for years. Am I a Glory Hunter? I'm not supporting my local team, I support a huge team from Europe. The main reason why I support and fell in love with the club, was that that team was the first football team I know. I remember it being years before I discover local football (I was a 5 year old kid or so). I decided to try and love my local team, yet I can't be passionate about it. This team I support is having its worst period in the last 2 decades or so, and I can feel the pain of it.

Bring more of these back! To the teams that might never win the big trophy each match is the big trophy which makes it easier. Getting a win is a celebration not relief. Sad for the plastics and fans of big clubs that never get to understand that.

"Support your local team" is easy to say when you live in a football centered country but when your country's national league is shit and your local team is no better than a pub team that plays boring football, why can't we watch quality football from overseas and pick a team to support?

Football as a supporter is a game of extreme highs and extreme lows. You live through those as its a part of you, in most cases its something you've always know through whatever means you've gotten to the stage of supporting a football club. Take me as an example, my team Sheffield Wednesday I've probably only ever seen the lows at the club from relegation from the premier league which I was too young to experience to the club nearly going bust and perhaps falling into the depths of English football only to ever described as "what a shame for such an old historic club". I put up with these troubles because I know that I'm part of a community, a family and when those moments of joy occur its like pure ecstasy. 2005 promotion through the play offs to get back into the championship in the Millennium stadium together with 40,000 other Wednesday fans. All the derby wins against Sheffield United and pipping them to promotion in 2012. The most amazing season we had last season, never seeing anything like the football we were playing and while the disappointing end I will always look at the season and think how incredible it is. Football is a passion that you can't escape and while the disappointments are mostly devastating, the highs are even better.

Being a Portsmouth fan, only being 15. I've seen us win the championship. Go through 2 fa cup finals, winning one of them. Playing in Europe. 2 Administrations ,a near liquidation, a massive amount of owners, (probably) thousands of players, too many corrupt owners. Also watching Portsmouth go out in the FA Cup first round to Aldershot. Spend a potential season conceding in the 90th minute a double figure amount of times, including in a play off semi final. Whilst also watching a volley to stay unbeaten from our rivals in the 94th minute, and 2 4-1 wins against them too. Being a football fan isn't always fun. But football will always be a funny game.

Yes support your local team, I'm from Northampton. I don't care if we win lose draw. It's about the fans getting together to shout at 11 men kicking a bag of wind for 90+ mins. I don't dwell on the lows just the light at the end of each tunnel. It's never an ending thing, you always have different competitions to go through and season after season. Be a one match champion

Best game I've ever been at was Wales v Portugal. It was the best atmosphere I've ever been a part of and despite losing the game; the disappointment of that was more than outnumbered by the celebration what we had achieved, we hadn't won but it felt like because we saw something and experienced something together that we never thought we would ever be a part of.

Everyone should read Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby. That book articulates what it is like to be a fan of a sports club so well. No way is "fun" the best way to describe it. The default emotion for a sports fan is anger, but fucking hell is being a passionate fan of a sporting club incredibly emotionally engaging

My most passionate football moments are Germany winning the World Cup in 2014, I didn't go crazy, but rather I just sat in the Olive Garden, were I was watching it and felt relief and happiness that all this shit that had happened up to that point is justified. Another was when Liverpool beat Dortmund in the Europa League Quarter-final, that was special. So I finish school, I check my phone game has started. Soon enough Dortmund score two. So at my teams football practice after school a lot of people were taking the piss at me cause they knew I was a Liverpool fan and the sense of dread and heartbreak was...so then Origi scores and my hopes start to get back up, but then Reus makes it 3-1 and I am just depressed. So I put my phone down and we play a practice match in training and when that ended I had taken my mind off of it. I was walking away from the goal to give my coach some cones in the clean up, when my friend shouts "Hey Aaron, Liverpool won." I run, shouting "YEEEESSSS!!!" as I check my friend's phone. One kid tried to tell my it was a hoax, but when I saw the score, I hugged my friend, just out of excitement."

As a Brentford fan, Im very very proud of my club and where we are. Some consider 9th or 10th in the Championship to be shit, but ten years ago we finished bottom of the league below and almost dropped out of League Two the following season due to our owners and such, whereas now theres a strong chance we could be a Premier League team in the next ten years. To put it in context, the first Brentford game I remember going to was a 3-1 loss against Bristol Rovers. 3 months ago I saw us beat Aston Villa 3-1. Thats why Im proud of Brentford and people who think we're shit should take this into consideration. Like with everything it has its ups and downs, Carlisle and Yeovil at Wembley, Doncaster at Home (all three of which I cried at... dont judge me), Middlesbrough in the playoffs, the middle of this season where we slipped from a playoff spot to 19th was shit too. Weve never won the playoffs in about 10 attempts. But Im proud of my club and were on the up.

Football is about 360 days of hurt but 5 days of joy, either winning by a big score line, winning a cup final or beating your rivals. It's either Amazing or heartbreak, there is no in between and if you say you don't care what happened deep down your killing yourself, so no it's not fun. But i wouldn't have it any other way!
