let me just say I love how you guys stay consistent with your episode content and are dedicated to giving us KZbin versions even when you're traveling or about to travel or busy. I get so frustrated when I'm excited for a KZbin podcast to come out and that week they don't have a video on it. The labels conversation was cool, it was helpful. I agree that bf/gf doesn't need to mean you're thinking way into the future but it does mean there's a commitment. I definitely feel comfortable putting that label on it when I'm spending all this time with someone and meeting the family and all that. However when I'm in that stage of the first few dates with a brand new person I prefer exclusivity after around the first three dates but not bf/gf label. I'd say it takes me a couple weeks-a month of intentionally getting to know someone before I want to say we're bf/gf. I think I just feel like I'm lying if I put that label on it when I'm in the beginning of getting to know a brand new person. I feel like I'm lying when I say I want to commit to that person because how do I know I want to commit to them if I really barely know them? I do like exclusivity at some point in that beginning stage though because I don't want to invest in getting to know someone who might easily flitter off to be with someone else. Exclusivity feels like a commitment to seeing it through the first getting to know you stage. Clarification: I think that first stage should be short and shouldn't involve a ton of time or resources spent on each other, it should just be intentionally getting to know each other.

This exclusive thing seems to be something that younger folks do. I've asked my boyfriend and a bunch of guys around 30 what this means. To me, it seems like it's usually 1. trial run for relationship or 2. stalling in order to get to know the other person cause they're not sure (probably a pre-break up like Jared talks about). Exclusivity doesn't seem to last long. My boyfriend and I were exclusive for a month before he asked me to be official.

I think it was absolutely unnecessary. The stated beforehand that he is unexperienced with women, there was really no need to humiliate him.
