Ohhh you missed the MAIN criticism which is how some spurs fans (and you two sometimes) say: "ohh ange is naiive he needs to change his philosophy of 20 years to be more pragmatic" - Every time we lose. & "ohh ange made adjustments and was pragmatic" - Every time we win. Its so frustrating. Like no matter what actually happened in the game, they get to "be right". Pathetic. Its this lazy "im always right" nonsense. As you say in this video, "ange-ball" is a variety of things. He always had made small tactical tweaks. In-game and between-games. What he won't ever do (and has never done) is abandon his all out attack philosophy, want-to-dominate-all, or *ever* accept that pragmatism or playing-for-a-result is ethically-fine. He says it every interview. But everyone, who wants to act like they know football better than ange and his decades of managing experience, still say the nonsense i outlined above. Its just crazy. Nothing ive ever noticed by fans of his previous clubs. Or not to this extent. We gotta look inward for the problem.

The tactics will shift and alter, either due to game-state, player-choice (as in what players are available AND choices by the players themselves on-feild), or small tweaks by Ange. But there are *some* tactical non-negotiables that stem from the philosophy. And the philosophy is what got him where his is, so rightly wont budge. Is i think a good way to explain to people

You can’t judge a project on a fortnightly basis. Those who are Ange in, have seen enough to warrant giving him enough time to succeed, ie 2-3 years!! Lots of up and downs along the way, but he’s the right man. Others fans just don’t have the patience….

My take is, Ange ball works great but it requires finishers, and we don’t have them. Maybe some guys can improve, who knows. But Ange ball is about creating more goal scoring chances than the other team, and we have done that consistently . Even if we give away some goals too. The only problem is a lack of finishing quality that the best teams have, and that’s not on Ange. Every game he has his head in his hands because of a bad missed shot. Almost every single game we lost we should have won. Should have beat Liverpool by more. Love Porro but he’s had several super costly misses that have hurt us. He should have scored an easy goal against Liverpool. An unheard-of Son penalty miss cost the wolves game. Timos 1on1 vs the keeper misses. Brennan Johnson early season bad misses cost us (he did turn it around). Maddison has had a couple bad ones too that should have been goals. Sarr with several good chances kicked straight at the keeper. Bissouma not many chances but always sails it. Sonny not up to his past clinic self, many near misses. Too many key chances bobbled is the story of the season.

Statistically the worst manager in decades 10 loses in 20 games this season, 22 since the first 10 games of last season. To compare him with poch is shocking. Pochs sides were entertaining resilient defensively sound, he was tactically flexible, intelligent and charming. His record was 150 wins, 70 draws and 74 loses (including the terrible start to 19/20- Ange is 27 - 9 - 22 and that includes Anges start (before the league figured him out). Poch got us to a ecl final - Ange won't ever get us to the group stage.....

He actually really didn't. We just showed more commitment, and whatever small tactical tweaks he made worked. The high-line, always-try-to-out-play the opponent, Heavy-pressing, play-out-when possible, etc, philosophy is still very much there. Ange will always shift tactics slightly - But the never play for a draw, time-waste, or be pragmatic philosophy is still key to everything we do. And its only getting better embedded.

I think we cleared long much more last two matches specifically to protect the new keepers. Have no said that, Liverpool locked us into corners and it was the only way out a lot. I don’t think Ange wants to do that long term, and the trouble is if he allows it now, players will get into those habits instead of the habits he wants. Having said that, if it keeps working - if we aren’t just giving the ball away, he might keep doing it. Have to understand, it takes time and unfortunately mistake will be made and in those positions, they give up good chances. But most of it is down to player error. The Sarr pass that lead to the hand ball and goal to Newcastle is a good example - simple pass miss hit… if he gets it right the whole pitch is open to Bergvall and we have a break. In truth we still did that against Liverpool, but it was in the defensive corners where they locked us into we chose to go long (often Spence to Gray who would clear it), where we’d otherwise possibly look to play a risky ball inside or to the keeper. Again though, the mistakes in past games were often down to a poor pass or the receiving player not awake, and that’s what takes time to build, by doing it. If they don’t do it, they’ll never get better at it.

Look at the drop off we had in the Europa league early in the season when we bought on Bergvall and Gray. Now they are flying improving every game. For me, it’s the low block teams I’m worried about. We always turn up with teams that want to play. The ones that sit back and get us on the counter is the issue. Hopefully with players slowly coming back we can start getting into a good run of games and beat the teams we should beat and compete with the top clubs like we always do.

Exactly, keep a low defensive shape, deny us space in behind and know if you manage to turn over the ball in midfield chances are you'll get an overload and a damn good chance to score. Just remember this everyone and especially Ben as this is your show. The Man U fanbase back in 1989 after 3 seasons and 2.5 months of losing every match they were 14th in the Division 1 table with 18 points. They had an FA Cup game during the middle of this spell they won that game I believe 2-1 that saved Sir Alex’s tenure and from that point Man U won some 40+ trophies!!! And the rest is history. He had taken Aberdeen and won European trophies and domestics trophies with them against a powerhouse of Rangers and Celtic. Sounds familiar sounds like the history of Ange and his achievements to me. Just give this project time and back the manager look at our new keeper Kinský watch some clips of him. I just believe he's only worked with depleted and tough squads with no money to work with. People don't give the guy enough credit. Brave from Everton but i do envision him being a threat as leader of the team.

The system has a lot of flaws. It is easy for our opponents to take advantage of it. That is the reason why we are not consistent with the results even with a fully fit squad.

Sure maybe he's a bit stubborn when half of the team is injured, but with a full squad being the proactive team is the correct way. High line, deep line, everything has some weaknesses, depends how well the players can deal with the situation you're forcing in the game.

Look, i dont want to say my opinion is the only correct opinion, and people should all just fall in to line. I respect people having all sorts of opinions, and i do listen, and change my mind plenty because of things i hear people say that ive never thought about. I just really struggle with whats currently going on at Tottenham. The football has not been great. When at its worst it is diabolical, some of the worst football ive seen at Tottenham, and ive seen plenty of bad football at Tottenham, ive been around for 40 plus years. Even when we win, its not ever 90 minutes of controled, tactical genius. Most of the time its pretty boring possession with no end game, and opponents creating chances, holding our breath, hoping they dont score, then we will have 10 or 15 minutes where things come together. We struggle against a low block because there are two teams in the final 3rd, Ange refuses to go backwards to try to create space, so we go in a boring horseshow around their box. Then they are patient and get us on the counter. Ive had people mention we only lose by 1 goal. Yeah, because when a team is playing the low block, being patient, waiting for the inevitable break chance, they dont have to go chasing a 3-0 win, they are sitting and soaking up pressure. Look at our attackers. Even Solanke came from a team that was counter attacking. Johnson and Werner are quick and like to run into space, stereotypical counter attacking players. Even Sonny, a lot of his memorable moments came from counter attacking goals. Which is why when we get a win, its against teams that open up and alliw us space. I dont understand why people seem to think the style has to be either completely attacking, or completely defensive. Poch was an attacking manager, but we had one of the meanest defenses in the league. If you have a solid defence, it gives the rest of the team the freedom to do their jobs to the fullest. But we have a manager who just doesnt care much about defence. Our wing backs are super inverted, cant defend, he doesnt yse a proper number 6, bissouma is usually off covering wing backs, stuff like that, and our CBs will be on the half way line. He refuses to be one of those boring defensive teams by actually understanding the importance of defending. There is evidence that his training and style causes muscle strains, but he doesnt see that as a problem (even though he complains about lack of fit players). I understand their are plenty of points ive over simplified here for brevity, and they can be argued, but im just trying to mention enough to show my point. Im not an "Ange out" person, in the way im not going around with placards and screaming for Ange out. My preferred scenario is him getting it right and it all coming together. But with everything i see, i dont ever see that being a reality, and i find it strange that so many people so strongly believe this guy is the answer, when all of the evidence seems to go the other way.
