Is Benyar lying to us? Benyar Tudor Homage full review

This video is about the Benyar 5179 "Tutor Homage . This timepiece is available in three color options - maroon, blue and black. In this review I will feature the maroon version BY-5179M. The watch seen in this video is an homage to both the Tudor Black Bay and the Tudor Pelagos . It mixes some of the best aspects of both of these watches into a great looking homage. Nonetheless, the watch is not without it's flaws. The bracelet is not very well made, quality control is an issue and the watch seems to not be made of stainless steel...as Benyar claims. Is Benyar lying to us in this regard?
During this video you will be treated to a brief introductory trailer. Then you will learn about the watch in an overview. After that you will get to see what the Benyar 5179 looks like outside. I recommend the Benyar 5179 if you are looking for a sub $60 Tudor homage with a primary focus on visual aesthetics. If you can stomach it's major flaws then the 5179 could be for you.

I just brought one exactly like this online for only 25 USD. It look & feel much better than all the Chinese watches that I brought in the past. Chinese really improved on their watch making skill & quality over past 20 years while maintaining the cost.

I agree with the Chinese improvements. However, my experience with Benyar is less than poor. Nice looking, but the rotor came off - sent it back and then the bezel fell off of the replacement.

I took delivery of the black and oxblood one today and tbh for £33 I am more than happy. Dial features crisp and clean, tiny bit of backslop on bezel, display caseback gorgeous and the movement spotless and the ONLY niggle is there isn't any microadjustment and my wrist is just in between a link section, too sloppy one way or just on the border of pinching the other. But for £33 I can live with it, now Benyar is owned by Pagani I imagine the quality is going to improve and so far the quality of my one is pretty flawless and does look very nice.

Hope that remains the case as time goes on. My rotor- and later after the review - bezel fell off.

Had one a while back and was quite disappointed with it. Had a noisy rotor, the case finishing and bracelet where two different colours, the bezel was awful and the lume wasn't much better. The case I believe is a cheap alloy and I would save a bit more and get the corgeut homage instead

Given that both of those examples feature high polish cases, I suspect that they are made of chromed pot metal and not SS. On AE now, we can see that both the case and band materials are stated as SS and the images reflect a combination of brushed and high polished surfaces on the case. The lume is not BGW9, however. BGW9 in order of colour: Blue-Green-White, with the dominant colour being blue and the net result being a blue-white glow. The lume is definitely in the green Luminova family, but even there I see that there are different degrees of luminescence between examples that people have reviewed here and elsewhere.

My baby bought me a benysr watch for my bday nov 20. Been wearing it every since.. only take off when showering, I sleep with it on.. lume kinda sucks though. Plus I wish it had a magnifier over the date. But hey I still love the watch. It runs and keeps time like it's supposed to. Oh yeah it says stainless steel, but from other vids it maybe just plated?

I think pagani design now owns benyar, i just received mine today and its great. No backslop on the bezel or anything anymore. If you want a top level homage, cadisen are the guys to go for

The only controversy is that people buy an inexpensive Chinese homage watch and think they're going to get more than what they paid for. If you want all the bells and whistles then reach a little deeper and purchase another more expensive example.

You are 100% right. You really get what you pay for, because homage watches come in all grades. It is silly to expect the highest quality and best materials from the cheapest ones. The Benyar homages dwell near the bottom of the pack, along with Olevs and a few others. If you are willing to spend twice as much, then Pagani Design, Coregut, or Cadisen offers you a much better watch. And if you want to spend three or four times as much, then there is always San Martin. And if you seek the very best, then just buy a Tudor for a hundred times the price of the Benyar.

It seems that the same Chinese company owns Pagani Design, Benyar, Bersigar, Coregut, Guanqin, and Cadisen. And they position their brands for different price points, with Benyar somewhere near the bottom. But I must admit, having owned a couple of Benyar watches they do represent good value for money.

I've avoided the benyar to date as the curners cut don't stack up. For me as well as nods to the peligose and dlackbay it nods to the snowflake alot.. Ps the green fella does nothing for me sorry.

Not worth the trouble. Since this review the bezel has fallen off too. I don't recommend it. If you want an NH35 or NH36 look at the gazillions of options already available in micro brand watches. Long Island Watch makes several great ones to fit the bill.
