Corrin, you have a beautiful soul, and your love for animals shows in every video that you post. When I saw the title of this video, I thought kitty was going to get quite the life lesson! Turns out Berdie Sanders is a big ol' chicken indeed! Who would have though? ;) We live in a world that enables people to pass quick judgements on strangers with no accountability. Don't be bothered by the trolls, you do you

What a cute video. I couldn't help but notice that you have a copy of La Terra Fortunata. It's one of the few cookbooks that feature the food of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, where my family's from.

Say I noticed your EE hen is missing some feathers around her neck. I have a couple of hens that are missing feathers there too. Some are missing more than others. Do you happen to know what is causing that in your girl?
@Thefreshp7 жыл бұрын
No, They often look a little rattier in the winter when they are cooped up and seem to regrow their beards in the spring. I'll keep an eye on them.
@carolinacowgirl957 жыл бұрын
it could be from a rooster mounting them- Thats how they hold onto the hens when reproducing, so its normal for a few feathers to be missing around the neck.

When the weather starts to warm chickens will molt? This means they shed some feathers and grow new feathers, severe mites or lice can cause them to pull feathers and make them look ragady or bald spots? We use to use black leaf 40, but I think they out lawed the stuff. If you look close you can see the mites, gently blow the feathers under wings around the vent and you will probably see them, they are tiny . These mites after a while can make chickens sickly and poor. They will lose weight and be pale in the face? Good luck , this something that happens you just treat them when they get mites, just nature?

@Thefreshp7 жыл бұрын
+Linda Mc he killed my other rooster, he's an alpha through and through. I thought he'd get his bluff in. I want Tallulah to be a bit afraid of the chicks for when I have babies, but it looks like she'll have to be inside during chick season. Google 'Fresh P Turbo' I'm anything but mean hearted. Animals need to get along here, and exposure is part of the drill.

I don't see why people are so upset over this. When dogs and cats have to share living space, you allow the same process to happen. No animal was hurt and they will probably will be the best of friends. People need to worry about REAL animal abuse not cute videos made by sweet, kind, and loving people!
@Thefreshp7 жыл бұрын
The more I live the more I suspect that some people need outrage like some of us need nature or friendship.

Spunky grew up with baby chicks so she has always gotten along fine with chickens. But it has to be scary for a chicken to be inside an area they haven't mastered and have a black animal come from nowhere and pounce on them and then when they seek to escape the window or door is closed. Had to be scary for a cat who has found a new home and has marked out their territory to have a strange animal they have not seen inside before all of a sudden invade their safe area.

Torturing animals, Lynda? Really? John, that is funny because I was wondering what you are "on". I didn't see any cruelty to any animal here. Now if you will excuse me, I am going to get some cold fried chicken for breakfast. Finger licking good!
@1954BJohn7 жыл бұрын
Chicken? Not dog or cat - If it moves eat it eh? So cruelty is funny - you MORON! ....hopefully you'll choke on your chemically enhanced cold fried chicken
@turnersparadise83687 жыл бұрын
Wow, John, you seem a bit emotional here. I have never had the opportunity to eat dog or cat, but I have eaten many other animals. Venison, of course. And bear. Elk, alligator, squirrel, possum, snake, so much seafood I couldn't scratch the surface here... But that is me. I hunt and fish and like meat. I find it moderately amusing that people like you treat animals better than other people, John. You have no qualms about being cruel to other humans. There was no torture or cruelty here, John. Go back to saving the world from the safety and shelter of your keyboard.

A full grown rooster who attacked my 185lb husband earlier that morning meets our newest farm cat, who's 8 months old and not even fully grown is hardly terrorizing. They're going to meet eventually, would you rather the cat not be introduced slowly with my attendance or have her stalking and eating the chicks? There's a point where you have to let animals be animals, but I honestly thought the rooster would instill a little fear into her and giver her a lesson is respect. It clearly didn't work out as I thought it would, lesson learned, but psychopath? Don't you think that's taking it a little far?
