Last weekend we cooked this dish for the first time and it was so delicious that we are cooking it again. We always split the work, I take care of the onions, frying and the cucumber garnish and my husband does the lentils and rice. This is one of the most delicious dishes I've ever eaten and I'm very happy about this discovery and the wonderful explanation of the preparation steps! Thank you very, very much!

The yellow and orange lentils, disintegrate easily to a mush that's why I use them in soups For the Mujadara is recommended dark color lentils which don't disintegrate after cooking So I would not use just any lentils I can find.

A story for you. I lived in rural Mexico for 20 some years and one day I bought one of those cheeses from a campesina and I forgot all about it and it ended up at the back of the fridge for several months. It looked just like these ones, on a corn leaf and in a plastic bag. To my surprise that cheese had turned into the best Camembert I have ever had! I tried to reproduce the experiment but it didn't work. Now I make my own cheeses at home in Canada and that's how I ended up on your channel.

I studied and worked in health care in South Africa in 1997. It was the best experience of my life as a 22 year old. Every morning, beautiful SA Aunties brought rusks to eat with coffee into the hospital where i worked. I can still smell and taste them in my imagination. I tried to recreate them once before, abour 15 years ago but they were not quite the same. I will definitely try this Lekker (?sp) recipe. Many thanks from England. 🇬🇧 ❤ 🇿🇦
