I have a very high arch and veyr low volume foot . I ski with lower buckle opened. I don't even need fitting with 92mm plug boots, but I can't close the buckle due to super high arach.

Ha, I need white or red boots with buckles, and holy cow, fristly men boots are mainly coloured black or something like mud, and then they put these jokes on all boots! -I recall times when was like this: Only those backloader-jokes, or one black expensive comp-boot to choose from...of course I know it is cheaper when have to buy no ugly boots.

boa?

I am a professional boot fitted and now that companies offer the boots in both boa and buckel offering in the same last (Nordica and Tecnica among others), I have not found that Boa does wraps the foot any more effectively than a traditional buckle, at least on the majority of customers I have fit. There are definitely people who will find a Boa boot more comfortable, however it is not the next coming of christ that K2 advertised. As a professional selling Boa boots my opinion remains that it is equivalent to buckles, and and fails to live up to any of the advertising promises.

while they don't necessarily live up to the whole "more uniform fit" claim, they do indeed make any micro adjustments much easier. And for that, it's really up to the end user to decide if the is worth the upgrade.

I disagree as does my boor fitter. He is pumped for it, he just set me up with Fischer RC4 Pro MV with Zip Fit. The lower shell FINALLY doesn’t crush my foot, yet is snug. High instep, wide forefoot, super narrow heel, brutal to fit. I used to ski daily years ago and demand a race fit…but can’t deal with the pain anymore. I had the boots one for an hour in the shop and my legs didn’t go numb or tingle, my foot was very relaxed. BOA is another tool in the tool box. As always a great foot fitter will tell you what works for your foot.

@@peterfreeman3317 half of your success with that boot is because of how well the zipfits mate with the rc4. But yeah boa allows for easier micro adjustments that you’d otherwise have to make by twisting a buckle, then latching and just use trial and error for. Just makes life easier.
@peterfreeman3317Ай бұрын
@@E.J.Addler of course but with BOA the entire lower shell tightens uniformly. Doesn’t crush my instep. The Zip Fits are what every high performance skier should have for a liner.
@E.J.AddlerАй бұрын
@@peterfreeman3317 it’s no more uniform than buckles that are 100% dialed. It just gets rid of the need for micro adjustments which are extremely difficult to get dialed with a buckle boot. I run the zipfit gft (touring model). Great for daily’s, but they’re so warm, they’re not great for multi-days since you’re going to get swampy feet.

Why not dual boa? Upper and lower.

Sorry to completely disagree, as a racing skier BOA is not a good fit. People are driven by this marketing campaign I think( I can be wrong). I have very spread wide feet and BOA boots are the same thing or even a little bit worse than buckle boots. I do think that for the average skier and park/west coast skier this doesn't change a bit because they tend to use softer boots due to the amount of powder. I would consider that for ice skiers BOA is not a good choice and if you find a boot to be uncomfortable get a boot fit and get them punch/grind, skiing is a extreme sport, so comfort don't usually come with it.
