I Think the first process is to immerse the hair in a solution of lye, sodium hydroxide ,it removes all the cuticles! then the hair would be rinsed with water, copius amounts of amino acid bonders and acidic ph stablizers would be added to promote temporary hydration and elacticity , enough to withstand the heat from the hair irons which press the hair to create the gloss!
