Not the dog owner arguing with a vet, those dogs obviously don't sound healthy.

Not that lady trying to deflect from The fact that her French bulldogs cannot breathe properly she had an excuse for both dogs 😂

So frustrating to see a breakfast show giving a platform to this lady and allowing her to come on and quote incorrect facts and argue/patronize the vet. There is no doubt this breed suffers and there needs to be tighter rules on breeding from them! Don’t go to a reputable breeder just get a different healthy dog.

It’s sad that we as humans are bringing these dogs into this world that have a potential to suffer, just because we’ve bred them to have certain traits. Every dog that is brought into this world should have the fundamental right to breath properly, not have their brain ooze out of their head,not have their long back break, be able to give natural birth, etc. The list goes on. There are plenty of breeds that don’t have these issues. The truth hurts 💔 We can fix this.

Even if her dogs aren't suffering the statistics show most of the breed do

No they are not healthy. The vet knows what she is talking about

How come when someone is ugly they can be bullied but when a dog is ugly they adore them explain??

The dogs are bug eyed, round faced, short muzzle and big ears. It looks reminiscent of a baby and helps fulfil any people's biological need to feel like parents. That's my opinion anyway.

Good point. The people who point fingers when you have a docked dog are often the ones who have brachycephalic dogs! Oh, but you're the cruel one and they love to tell you that they're animal lovers!

I don't how banning would work, if they ban the breed there are other squashed face dogs, if they ban all and people continue to get squashed face dog will they instantly be taken away and put down purely because its face literally doesn't fit. I agree its bad for the health but I'm not sure banning would work, maybe if they made it so all kennel clubs and crufts and tv adverts were not allowed to show short face dogs unless the muzzle is over a certain length, it might popularise a longer muzzle.

Banning would be a last resort. What I think should be done before that is that French bulldog breeders should be financially incentivised to breed out the problematic parts of these dogs. Same with pugs. There are breeders out there who are trying to breed out the problem areas. Pugs and french bulldogs are cute dogs but all I hear is pain and something gasping for air and eyes that look like they’re about to pop out.

I don't think you understand what a ban means - it doesn't mean they will be taking away dogs with flat faces and putting them down. It just means they will no longer be able to register them with breed clubs, register as breeders, or show them. They will essentially no longer be considered a breed, and thus their worth will decline. They will also not be allowed to show on TV (which should be a ban already in place.) Essentially, they will no longer be advertised to the public as healthy dogs . Also, a ban is a last resort - they may be given breeding goals in the standard that they have to meet (or at least show improvement towards) in a certain time frame, such as breeding dogs that can birth naturally, have longer noses (no less than 1/2 the length of the skull) etc. The goals will be based on conformation, temprament, behaviour, genetic variability and health. Some of these breed might require new genetics (ie. Crossbreeding) to reach any of these goals - if the breed club refuses to enact this - they lose the breed. Simple as that, they should no longer be allowed to portray these as health sound dogs by showing them. But in same cases the health conditions of the breed are just way to cr*el to continue to allow, and the genetic variation is so little - so they should be banned outright. This happened to king charles spaniels in Norway. It's not just about animal welfare, it's about consumer protection too. Oh and for a ban- anyone who is found breeding them after the banned will be treated as animal ab*sers. Massive fines at the very least. As it should be.

The topic is very subjective, what does it mean to say the dogs are suffering ? what does it mean to suffer as a dog ? What does it mean if the dog lives til they were 10-13 years ( the average live expectancy of a dog) , did the dog suffer the first three years ? Or the last ? It was a great but if someone better at articulating the breeder side, it would’ve been a different result

If a dog can’t fucking breathe properly and has its eyes popped out every few days, it’s suffering
@jessieevans7600Ай бұрын
How is it subjective? xD the dog is suffering because of all the squashed and narrowed anatomical features we've bred into them. If you had a flat nose with narrowed nostrils, narrowed airways with extra tissue... you would obviously be suffering. What is subjective?

This is typical of the kennel club allowing these dogs to go through this all because the kennel club say so ,yet the kennel club have banded tail docking which causes less problems ,these dogs are suffering the vet knows far more than that stupid woman knows the breeder should prosecuted and these type of dogs should be banded
