A little biased...yeah but your objectivity did sneak it's way through :) Bruder makes 2 models above the EXP-6. Both have more solar than the Roamer 1 which is a point you made in the beginning. 5 years ago the solar game was completely different so why even mention it? The updated version of the EXP-6 is still 30k cheaper than the Roamer...were you looking at AUD? You could have talked about the load sharing nature of the Bruder suspension but it wasn't mentioned. Were you aware that is does both load sharing and non load sharing depending on how you set it up? The ride height? it's determined by the tow vehicle hitch and where the trailer sits level. So much more nuanced than you described. The Bruder sitting lower gives it a much better center of gravity...not mentioned. Min suspension setting allows for better kitchen access on certain terrain and better cabin entry not requiring stabilizing jacks...not mentioned. Narrower on the trail...not mentioned. Overall not a bad job but definitely biased with some objectivity thrown in...lol On that specific obstacle the Roamer definitely won the departure clearance battle but lost on articulation and center of gravity not to mention the increased tow vehicle requirement which you pointed out in the end. Even though your comparing a 4-5 year old trailer design against the latest from Imperial and Pause I still find your content useful, entertaining and I thank you for producing it. Nobody else is making action footage of Bruder trailers except Bruder, nobody else shows off the trailers they sell in the field. Keep it up and dig a little deeper for that objectivity...I know there's more in there :)

Shane, if you learned more about Bruder suspension before testing it, you would become aware that you tested it in the mode that is best for absorbing bumps and trenches to minimize jostling of the trailer contents. With slow rock crawling at extremes of geometrical limits that you chose, you created the outcome of the Bruder dragging it’s rear. The suspension for this type of rock crawling would have lifted trailer higher by merely flipping a switch on the air line that communicates between the front and rear airbags. It can be done with one finger on each side, and you can deflate the front axles’ airbags do the front will not support weight.. By doing that, the entire trailer weight can be supported by just the tires on the rear axle, and that alone would have resulted in more rear clearance for the Bruder. But I think the Bruder setup to the lifted truck hitch height was probably wrong from the start, too (not starting level, or even a little nose down for off roading. The hood thing about the Bruder is that it’s heavy duty steel frame can handle skids on rocks. Not sure the aluminum frame of the Roamer would be undamaged by such scraping.

Lol! We understand how the load sharing works. Shutting the front off would have made it worse not better. We were maxed out on the suspension already. You are correct in saying if we used the load sharing we would have gained a little more clearance. By shutting off the value on the rear that would have given us maybe a few more inches. But it certainly would not have changed that much. We had already tried it on other obstacles. The ROAMER 1 does not have a shut off value so it would have been silly for us to shut off the rear to try and make the Bruder have a little more clearance. The way we did it was the same for both. Also the ROAMER 1 has a heavy duty powered E-coat steel frame not aluminum. ☺️

Why do you try to make them the exact same, suspension, etc. They should be tested based on their designed ability and they're definitely not equal. Is the Bruder for sale?

I understand that the Roamer 1 is ROA's baby, but if I were the owner of ROA and wanted a comparison of my product against another product, I would hire an independent group of experts in offroad suspension with years of experience in camper build to test both of these campers, instead of doing my own personal test. Because now it seems like it's only a matter of opinion of the bias owners trying to sell their own product. An independent test should be done to avoid any conflicts of interest and personal biases towards the competition. I personally thought the ride height of the tow vehicle was way off for the bruder, and non of the bruder's capabilities, like being able to raise wheels to change flat tires or convert to two wheels in case of flats, and several other capabilities of the bruder that are absent in the Roamer 1, were never mentioned. Besides, the EXP-6 used in this vs. video is an earlier model that made its debut back in 2014. You could have used the two newest camper models Bruder makes like the EXP-8 that came out in 2021 and the brand new EXP-7 that just came out this year, 2023.

ROA. You guys could have learned a lot more about Bruder’s capability. Kind of shows why the rest of the world thinks Americans can be a bit superficial in their conceit that American know-how is so great. If you guys thought your “trial” does more than show that your tandem trailer has a shorter distance from rear axle to rear end than the Bruder. If you dropped your hitch height, the Bruder would have cleared with even more distance. 9.5 inches of airbag travel also allows for leveling ease on more varied terrain while still hitched. Makes the Bruder super easy to camp late and leave early allowing for epic daily travel distances. It’s low highway road height is super fuel efficient, and very towable, even at speeds (100+ mph across Wyoming).

I’m a ROAmer fan, too. But I hope you guys can see what makes the Bruder great (with in my opinion, still the best expedition off-road trailer suspension in the world) and incorporate it into your suspension designs. We Americans still have a way to go to reach parity with Australian bush travel experience.

After having the Bruder for over two months and taking it out a bunch we would disagree over all. The suspension overall has a little bit of the edge. Otherwise it was a little disappointing. Of course we would love to see a new one. The Pause suspension has more travel and overall looks more robust. I don’t think people understand that America is now in the game and we are edging away from Australia. 🇺🇸

@@pcarr8618 I don't think this is necessarily fair. I agree they haven't learned much about the Bruder and they are doing a kind of Chevy vs Ford thing when it should just stand on it's own as an option but they aren't petty. Biased for sure and maybe uneducated on all the features of the trailer and also hampered by only having a 5 year old version of the trailer when Bruder was doing things nobody else was. But they aren't vindictive. At least they are putting out content that lets you see stuff you wouldn't see otherwise. They are pushing their products as you'd expect. It doesn't change what the Bruder is or isn't or what the Roamer/Pause is or isn't. They are different for different purposes. The Roamer/Pause trailers can't keep up with Bruder within it's designed use case nor can Bruder keep up with Roamer/Pause for their deigned use case.

@@pat9125 Bro they took two rigs over some tough rock formations in a vertical move then made a general biased conclusion. View the vid again. How often are people climbing rock formations like this? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate ROA vids as a whole but there are some bias. As a business owner and move software products, I know where our margins or SPIFFs are and can be biased too. However, we set up indivule demos with the manufacture to go over and ultimately the client decides. I encourage ROA if they really want some traffic to consider doing panels with either the mfgs and or owners act as MC and ask questions then moderate the panel . This would be much more valuable.

@@pcarr8618 Yup I get it but they are selling trailers. I just don't think they are reacting to not being a Bruder dealer. They are doing what they do highlighting the positive aspects of their trailers and ignoring any weaknesses. Whether it's the GoPower electronics, Seams requiring caulking/inspection, towing issues, height/weight restrictions or whatever else they aren't going to highlight weaknesses on their trailers. If you look past their bias and sometimes lack of information there is a lot to glean from their videos. Plenty of other resources to gather the technical details but not many resources to see trailers in action as ROA is one of a very few that go beyond a promo video and do things most would not with their trailers. Question for ya: If ROA hadn't done this video would you have thought the Bruder would make it up that obstacle? I'm not sure I would have tried and I love that they did.

Both are very impressive trailers… but with different attributes. Good to see you put the Bruder to the test. EXP-6 would be my choice, something smaller to store in the garage. However, in Australia we have so many other options just as capable at a lower price point. Also keep in mind our conditions are different down under, we don’t need as many solar panels and winter temperatures hardly go below freezing.

I recently (Oct 2023) purchased a new PX2 Pro from Star Vision, chassis and body are built in China, and finished off locally in Melbourne. Shane, you miss the whole point of the Bruder’s 9.5 inch airbag travel compared to the Roamer1’s 4 inches. The Bruder kneels low so it fits in a standard 7 foot 10 inch garage door opening with the top closed. One of its unique features is its so easy to store in a residential garage. And why wouldn’t you compare them at max airbag height? The minimum departure angle has no relevance yo use off-road, except in the event you need yo drive under low tree branches or something, which makes that an advantage!

@@ROAOffRoad They use Victron and Garmin and all composites. I know you only have a 5 year old trailer. Bruder was blazing trails that others are now following. I really think instead of a chevy vs ford video series it would have been better to highlight the Bruder on it's own for was it was 5 years ago. It would be entertaining and help you sell it. The Chevy Ford competition falls apart because unlike Chevy and Ford Bruder isn't building a trailer to directly compete with Pause/Roamer. The Bruder is a much more analog basic trailer designed to be easier to store, lighter, outdoor living vs indoor living, shorter and narrower on the trails travelling at higher speeds. The Roamer/Pause is indoor luxery living that Bruder can't touch. The suspensions are both Australian and both are extremely capable. The load sharing on the bruder is unique in the off road world, the ability to lift 2 of the 4 wheels and still keep going, the overall geometry allows faster travel over rough terrain but it comes at the cost of overall clearance. They just aren't comparable because they intended for different uses/audiences. I remain impressed with your efforts and thank you for your content.

Hey guys, you need to consider the design of the bruder suspension. You had the suspension in load share mode which creates the ride quality. If you turn off the rear airbag in this instance, the air coil will hold full weight rather than bleeding off to the front air bag. Bruder have an option that allows you to do this from the Garmin screen on full spec.
@marc7923
@marc7923 8 ай бұрын
The Bruder is also designed to adjust height side to side (for driving on slopes sideways or maneuvering around tight vertical obstacles), and even to take more weight in the front or rear axle, or lift a flat tire. Bruder is engineered to be able to drive on only one wheel on each side, just in case you flat two tires while out in the bush. The 9.5 inches of airbag vertical travel also allows it to hitch to various tow vehicles at their prefered ride height very easily. And an owner might want one ride height for both tow vehicle and trailer for highway use (better aerodynamics for fuel efficiency - think Tesla Cybertruck or Rivian with various ride heights) and another higher setting for off road.

If you merely had a hitch height dropper on your lifted tow vehicle to lower the front aspect of the Bruder, the the rear clearance would lift about 2” for every 1” dropped at hitch height. I say you didn’t think through your set up well enough. The outcome is more about you guys thinking through what exactly you are testing, than the capabilities of the trailers.
