Wanted you to know I've watched this video dozens of times. We purchased an EXP-7. Technical reviews of this trailer are hard to come by and yours is amazing. I find it really strange that you can't find an owner walkthrough or any kind of review really aside from the Bruder created content. Yours really is the only one I think and it's fantastic. Any more planned in the future?
@L2SFBC Жыл бұрын
Wow, glad I could help! Bruder did offer me one to test as opposed to explain...if that offer is still open then I'd do a test, and also further tech explanations. But they're in Brisbane and I'm 1600km away in Melbourne...got to plan it!

@pat9125 What's your thoughts on your experience with the EXP-7? I'm looking at buying either EXP-6 or EXP-7. There's no information/reviews on these from what i can see. Cheers.
@pat9125 Жыл бұрын
@@Gindolfin-7 Well. We haven't received it yet. We paid for it and expected it to ship next week but Bruder is experiencing some supply chain problems so it's delayed a couple months at this point. The reason we went with the Exp-7 is due to the dual rear doors, slightly better interior layout, more solar, more batteries, more water and that balance between the 6 and 8. We didn't want the 8 due to the lack of outside kitchen/living and if they hadn't just released the 7 we'd have gotten the 6. We optioned the cold weather package as well so we have the same cold temp capability as the 8. Overall we loved the 6...some friends have one that we toured...but the additional solar, battery, water and interior layout put us into the 7 since it was available. Same frame/suspension/basic body construction as the 6 so either trailer is amazing.

good video, especially about the difference in load sharing vs non load sharing, but explain to me about the van pitching up and down, while hitched to the tow vehicle?
@L2SFBC2 жыл бұрын
sure. With a NLS suspension when you pitch up the force required to 'lift' the towbar becomes greater. Same for when you pitch down. This is because the 'other' wheel is being lifted a bit. Hence there is a damping effect. With LS when the trailer pitches up it gets easier to pitch up. Same as when it pitches down. So, no damping, opposite effect. The only people who tell you that you need a set up like this are either salespeople or people who have never travelled Australia.

impressive features. Very interesting video regarding dual axle vans, thank you. how many have each wheel rated for 'single' use? also with air bag vans, and auto levelling at camp, with more air in the bag do they suffer from more movement? and rely more on stabiliser stands? We keep our induction portable, for cooking away from where the cooking spatter can cause issues.
@L2SFBC2 жыл бұрын
I'd say you still need stabilisers but in that video I didn't get to live in the van unhitched. I don't think steel vs air springs makes much difference.
@offroadingfoz2 жыл бұрын
Shame about their reliability at the prices. Saw one driving along and lights were having a disco. And I do believe they have been to court and lost over issues also. Really want them to do well and bring features to entry level pricing… but don’t think they ever will.
@L2SFBC2 жыл бұрын
I don't think there will ever be sufficient demand to get economies of scale down low enough to become affordable for most people.
@Philipk65 Жыл бұрын
That was really interesting. Definitely learnt a lot from this video. I think for long term touring the EXP6 is the go but if you are doing weekenders or just a couple of weeks here and there a EXP4 would suffice.

Question: Why wouldn't you leave it in the load sharing configuration all the time? In my research it appears that load sharing is superior in all situations. The only exception I could find is that in a tandem axel arrangement non load sharing might offer more articulation but that depends on how it's configured. In the case of the Bruder I just don't see why load sharing wouldn't be how you set it up all the time.

Stability at high speeds less pitching
@pat9125 Жыл бұрын
@@L2SFBC Interesting. Makes sense. Didn't think about that. On Bruders site they talk about how fast they towed it and their wind tunnel tests but they don't talk about what mode the suspension is in when they do those high speed tests. Once again...something new to think about. Thank you

Such good tech and costly. I'm waiting now for electrically driven wheels on the van. Powered by the alternator of the car.
@L2SFBC2 жыл бұрын
Yes electric drive for trailers will be amazing but power will need to be off a battery on the trailer
@Malc6642 жыл бұрын
@@L2SFBC Is that because of high amps to run electric motors?
@L2SFBC2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the alternator wouldn't supply enough power. Even a small battery on the caravan, topped up by regen and extensive solar, pluys a feed from the car's alternator would help. Mostly would be used for starting off and offroad. Would be super hepful.

really looks like a paid review eg- crowing about the air suspension to improve rear entry (yess all good on first appearances), but you fail to mention that you would then need to adjust the front hitch height to maintain the vehicle level status (now remember, this is for the mobility impaired - the last thing they want is to have to disconnect the van and jack it up and down every time they stop and want entry) all up, I appriciate your engineering comments, - keep up the good work - one thing I noticed re the suspension is that it is relativly smooth underneath the arms ( a good thing given the ammount of rocks etc that get tossed around on gravel roads and the knocks, drags and scrapes that can happen in severe off road. This aspect of design is often quite bad in other makes, and is almost neves spoken of. On a side aspect There is public record of what I consider to be some really ugly treatment of folk by this manufacturer. This is unfortunate as it appears that a lot of thought has gone into the product design.
@L2SFBC2 жыл бұрын
Not paid. Not a review either as I said at the start. I did mention earlier on about the need to change jockey wheel height when talking about auto level. Also, to lower the rear to get in you don't need to change the jockey wheel height.

ultimate oxymoron. Heavy trailer will spoil the reason you went off-road. If you can afford it use the money to buy luxury accomodation if that's your need but going off-road is where you leave unnecessary stuff behind or it will get you stuck.
@L2SFBC2 жыл бұрын
There is some truth to that yes...but if you're going to tow, better to have a van you can tow over rough terrain than not. I've pulled mine through mud and over sand dunes.
@donaldallen17682 жыл бұрын
So you think a One Ton (Ford, Chevy, Dodge) pick up truck can't handle that trailer off road 🤔

@bargainhunters497811 ай бұрын
1500 won’t work, it will tow but not very efficiently and not without trouble. You must buy a 2500 with off road capabilities like a Ford tremor or a GMC Sierra AT4x
