Is Bus Faster than Train from Bukit Panjang to Pasir Ris?

You should explore the difference in timing between Tampines central to Yishun MRT by bus and train.. can be a big difference

Also heard some one claim that if there're traffic jams, Punggol-Tampines by bus (34 I think) takes about as long as by train (~1h). So far I haven't been hit by jams though, & I usually clock much less time than that; more like 1/2h

@@lzh4950 This 969 during off peak timing or even 34, going by Tampines expressway is very fast. But as you say, if there is a jam, then could be quite bad. Late night for example, to return to tampines from Yishun, takes about 30 mins

In Woodlands bus interchange, u can take bus 161 if the bus come early, and in bus stop after Punggol Road, u can change either bus 39 or 109 to Pasir Ris. Or if u are from Bukit Panjang Pending LRT station to Pasir Ris, u can take bus 966, transfer bus 23 at bus stop Infineon PIE, and later transfer bus 15 at tampines avenue 1, it may be faster than go through woodlands interchange

161 do not stop at bus stop after punggol road.instead 161 turn to punggol road only because it go to punggol road then sengkang then hougang.

Probably depends on what time you take the bus; 966 isn't very frequent; 23 I remember runs only 1x/15min at night, while 15 goes thru Tampines Town Centre, which is jammed during evening peak hours

Future suggestion: Is Not Changing Train Faster than Changing Train from Chinatown to Botanic Gardens? Route 1: Downtown Line: 10 stops Route 2: North East Line ➡ North South Line (Dhoby Ghaut) ➡ Downtown Line (Newton): 2 stops + 3 stops + 2 stops = 7 stops Route 3: North East Line ➡ Downtown Line (Little India): 3 stops + 3 stops = 6 stops Route 4: North East Line ➡ Thomson East Coast Line (Outram Park) ➡ Downtown Line (Stevens): 1 stop + 6 stops + 1 stop = 8 stops Route 5: North East Line ➡ East West Line (Outram Park) ➡ Circle Line (Buona Vista): 1 stop + 5 stops + 3 stops = 9 stops

Maybe if you had this race way back in 2016 aka sv 187 70-80 km/h 0405 days, a few more minutes of precious time could be shaved off. We all know how infamously slow the initial acceleration of SG Citaros are in LTA config.

Thanks for the suggestions! 518 takes a very long journey snaking through Tampines before reaching pasir ris. 5 also snakes through bedok res, Simei and upper Changi before reaching pasir ris

BPJ to PSR? 966 to Jalan Kollam Ayer, then 23 to Temasek Polytechnic followed by 15 to Pasir Ris. Most of it is express.

They should revive the 989 to link Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang to Changi Airport via TPE/SLE route and stops at Jln Kayu. It'll certainly improve the journey time then it was before vying Bukit Batok/Gombak and PIE lol taking. I still remember the days where 989 was the longest bus route (from and to CCK) and the one with most bus stop of 101, i think Also, imo isn't it quite dumb to put 161 & 168 on the West Exit boarding side rather than East Exit side coz 161 & 168 always need the go round, pick up passengers and go round AGAIN to exit. Waste time really and bring more congestion if you think about it. If on East side, they'll quickly pick up passengers and exit the interchange fast reducing time in the space constrained interchange with almost 40+ bus services. LIKE REALLY, you could just fill up boarding slot as there are free boarding slots on the East Side

You could take 171 from bukit panjang to yishun and then can take 39 from yishun to pasir ris. It would be faster as it required to change 2 bus alone instead of 3

The mandai section of 171 takes a very long time and it makes a large detour to Chong pang and back. But if 39 doesn't screw up then might have a chance ah haha. I chose the 168 route cos less traffic lights also

I think MRT is faster because you have to ride on 2 lines. first, ride the Downtown line until Tampines, then ride the East-West line to Pasir ris, and i think thats the result before this video is created.

To be very honest..... I still prefer to take MRT to Pasir Ris honestly..... EWL-DTL only. If I want to take bus from my hometown at Bukit Panjang - either I can transfer once to Sengkang (161), Tampines (168), Bedok Reservoir (506) can alr as an example...... Looking at this..... We decide what we want since we all bus enthusiasts can transfer here and there
