Is buying a used ZL1 worth it? What you need to know coming from an SS

This video is way delayed tbh but finally here, my 3ish month review of my used Camaro ZL1. Basically I go over all the major differences coming from an SS to a ZL1, what I enjoy the most and some little things that I happen to dislike which isn't really a lot bc this car is truly great and I've still absolutely loved every mile that I've driven this car. I also have an Alcantara/suede steering wheel. Instead of buying the expensive spray cleaners. Just use a small bowl of warm water with some dawn dish soap in there and a microfiber towel. Just get the towel damp with the soapy water and rub back and forth over the whole wheel and then use a dry cloth to dry it off. You can also use a soft bristle brush afterwards to fluff the suede back up again! Hope this helps

I’ve driven everything from a hellcat to a GT-R, to a 2SS, to a 5.0, a TrackHawk, a 392, a Hemi, a Mercedes Benz C63, & even Hertz special Hendricks Motorsports edition SS 480hp (black & yellow)! I believe the surface high traction is setting that says you are at the drag strip where the traction is high so it wouldnt work as well when trying to launch in the street.

I would only buy a used ZL1 if I knew the owner. You could get stuck with a car that a young owner beat the piss out of the car if you didn't know the owner. That car has a high abuse potential. A lot of owners abuse these cars. Repairs will be very expensive unless you have a extended warranty.

I will be going from a Heads/Cam FBO SS with Nitrous to a Zl1 here soon. I maxxed out the performance i could get out of the car with the stock bottom end, and wanted more so i decided to upgrade to the zl1 which can handle more power and be much faster lol

You're lucky your supercharger works, chevy fucked me telling me all was fine when it was far from it. The speed shop CHEVY svc mgr sent me to wake it up with only boltons couldn't void my warrantee however... When the stock baseline dyno showed barely 500hp at the wheels when it should be about 540hp, the intercooler was empty and only worked when the speed shop charged it. 7 days later ir was empty again. For 3 years (mine's at '17) chevy now said it's modified!! The same SOB now says ite my problem. In '17 there was about 10% of the ZL1s from the factory had this problem, i first noticed it when there was NO supercharger screaming. There's even an internal svc docs from chevy about this problem and they IGNORED me.at minimum boost and can handle up to 1100hp. Stock hardware is supposed to handle 1000hp, but I wouldn't try it. 790 at the crank is sufficient... I replaced it with a whipple 2.9 and its now pushing 647hp to the wheels.best $9k I've ever spent. Fuck Chevy, I was getting 2022 or 2023 C8 ZO6. Never gonna happen.

that’s crazy! i haven’t had anything crazy like that on mine but i do have issues with this car not hitting peak boost all the time, most of the time it’s only hitting about 9lbs and i can def feel a difference

@@BrokeZL1 it's that stock 1.7, it's a piece of shit and while mine was a 100% failure there's many other anomalies that are difficult if not impossible to address, even for outstanding, very competent speed shops. The incompetent buttplugs at the dealer can't even do oil changes correctly, they'd put only 8.5 quarts in a 10qt motor. In '17 the LT4 was the top of the line fire breather and those freakin bastards are dangerously incompetent, the LT4 "guru" don't even know there's an intercooler and that has nothing to do radiator. I actually gave those pricks the internal svc bulletin #'s for the procedure and they were more concerned on how I got my hands on them and even after giving it to them they did nothing. It pisses me off just thinking about it. Scumbags, chevy blows dog.

@@dominicksforza3484 Yeah man the hp #'s are hard to gage as a Mustang dyno is notoriously low vs Dynojet etc....figure 20% loss worst case from advertised... Personally I check, fill or change most fluids myself or I have our Tuner/shop/builder do it if I can't. The Dealer is no place for a ZL1 to get serviced...but they sure serviced you!
