Absolutely well worth it! I have a 2009 FA5 who Im lucky the previous owner took good care of. Had receipts & video to back up his sale. Got mine right shy of 119k miles. Just returned my air intake back to stock OEM Honda but with a K&N filter. Replaced fenderliners and readjusted steering wheel center, and finally cleaned throttle body. Amazing difference with just doing routine maintenance. Car is a blast & VTEC is awesome. I get to be a car enthusiasts and still drive on weekends with wifey as car is comfortable for her to ride in unlike my EK hatch. @Roobsrandomz2 жыл бұрын
The transmissions are great imo. This platform requires corrective engineering like all platforms. The primary shifting issue causes are the cmc master/slave and fork being gross and dirty from a used car, along with a proper setup for clutch engagement. You can achieve a long lasting no-grind setup (assuming on a newer trans build, not one that's had 100k+ of grinds and abuse) with a oem exedy clutch, properly-clean-lubed how it should be from factory (pivot points on fork, and metal contact points), additionally Hybrid shifting bushings + shifter base, and solid mounts to aid in total engine security. Lastly, make sure there is nothing constricting the shifting lever which I've seen on tons of builds. Unfortunately, a lot of folks acquire a "used" car like I did, and with miles, metal can't just heal itself after errors on gears so. Statistically speaking, it seems like these cars have shifting issues more then not caused by transmission specifically, when it's due to error, and not correcting the CMC's master/slave soon enough off the lot. side note: The notorious casting crack in the k20z3 effected many many 8th gen owners, including myself which lead to head gasket/coolant + oil mixing. Completely due to a error in casting these blocks in sections via a USA casting machine plant. Great video and touch points. Cheers man!

@@Fa5_Parris Fasho my friend! If you're looking for quality replacements that will last a long time: acquire "hybrid Racing" products. (CMC master/slave/line/ shifting bushings) I recommend Honda MTF fluid flush every 10-15k if you're hard on your platform, it's VERY easy to reach if you have an intake on your car. Simple flush will literally help keep that trans protected and result in reduction in grind %. It's all about reducing the chance of error. Because we obviously make mistakes as humans. ha Cheer brother!

It's completely stock (expect for the window tint and new speakers that installed). It's been a dream car. I have run into a slight issue with grinding on 2nd and 3rd gear, but I think that was more of me messing up shifting (haven't driven a stick in like 5 years). As I've driven it more, it doesn't grind. Then again, i rarely ever shift near the red line. Still though, this car handles so well. I love it so much much and hope you have it for years.

In my opinion, nothing is wrong with the trans. This car will last you forever with proper maintenance, as cliché as that sounds. I've owned an '06 Coupe with OEM HFP kit for over a decade with 220k miles. Never ever had grinding issues since the '06 models were the ones known for that, and I just changed the transmission fluid a few months ago for the first time lmao. Didn't make any difference in drivability though, just for piece of mind I suppose. Do a valve adjustment soon since there's 100k on the motor. I had just done mine for the first time last year and the exhaust valves were a little tight, again, no drivability issues though. Reach out if you need anything regarding the vehicle. I've had a lot of time to learn the ins and outs of every part, sensor, etc. of this model lol. 🤘

@bhradramazani Жыл бұрын
That may be the case for you. But you shouldn’t be leaking oil regardless if everything seems to be in working order. Mine has never leaked oil even when VTEC is engaged and I hardly add any oil between oil changes, if any at all. How much does it leak when you take it for a drive? Check the condition of the VTEC solenoid. There is increased oil pressure when VTEC is engaged so it may be leaking through the solenoid as an outlet.

I'm not sure how you went through 3 transmissions, often there is an issue with the shifter cables, bushings or clutch master cylinder ... if your not getting a grind by moving the shifter plate with your hand there is a problem in between. You should also make note of the air compressor's going out, they are the most expensive cost on these cars aside from the paint. Also, rear calipers seizing and starter motor failure. I feel like this generation was a massive downgrade in reliability and quality from Honda, but probably still better than most other manufacturers. You can get much more car for the price of these used now, just my opinion.

In my opinion, nothing is wrong with the trans. These problems are from the clutch pedal when Honda made them they spot welded the clutch pedal that gives an illusion of your transmission grinding when you try shifting when I get these cause I usually remove the clutch pedal and re-weld. It never had a problem.

You think that could be an issue too with the rsx? Sometimes I hear a noise from my clutch pedal and sometimes grinds gear
