Is Camaro Visibility REALLY that BAD? | Owners Perspective

What is up you guys. Ever since I started looking at Camaro reviews, people are always talking about the terrible visibility. I kept that in mind when buying the car and over a year later I certainly have a good idea as to if those claims were true. I try to detail all aspects of visibility like rear visibility, the front and back windshield, the mirrors, etc. If there is anything I missed or any questions you have leave them below. Also, anyone who has a Camaro please leave your experience down below to let people know. I have a 2015 Camaro, and I have issues seeing the front of car, when going to drive thru fast food joints. Also when I make a left and there is an island or some kind of curb you really have to pay attention or else you might catch the curb. But like you said it is something you get use to, personally I think it makes you a better driver paying attention to the road behind you and and in front of you. One thing I did to help me out with the small window in the back was add a larger front mirror. However I do not recommend tint on the back window it sometimes hard to see at night or it's just pitch black.

I had a 2014 mustang for 2 years, then a 2016 challenger and now I drive a Camaro. The Camaro by far is the best of the 3.

I drive a convertible version. I think the front and rear visibility really aren't much "worse" versus other similar sports cars in terms of the important things you need to see, it just has pretty awful blindspots.

For sure! I agree the front and rear visibility isn’t THAT bad compared to other sports cars, but like you said when you combine it with the blind spots, small mirrors, etc, it starts to become not so great. Still, not as bad as people make it out to be. Thanks for the comment!!

I went from driving a 2013 F150, super crew cab. Now a 2017 Camaro. I honestly haven’t had any issues personally. Only one blind spot is the left beam but all I do is move forward and usually I don’t even need to do that. Rarely have I needed to do anything extra

Sat in a showroom Camaro and immediately felt like one of those little old men trying to look over the steering wheel of a giant 70s Lincoln Continental. Then it dawned on me, I am getting old. Now I'll have to find a more user friendly but still bad-ass vehicle for my mid-life crisis.

My experience from shifting from sports sedans to a Camaro 6th gen was pretty smooth. I think you just gotta get used to the front viability and it becomes second nature

This is my favorite car and I try not to be bias but out of dodge ford and Chevy the Camaro is my favorite. The blind spots aren’t a big reason not to get the car out of the three. Obviously there’s some cons to all. Ford is just not my style but fun to drive. Dodge is just too wide and chevy is hard to see in some situations. But it’s all about knowing your car. Preference is also important so if blind spots are a reason for you then that’s fine. Just don’t knock it till you try it.

I’ve had my 14 camaro for about 8 months now and I got used to it within the first few days. Tho the only thing I’d have trouble with is reversing w/o the backup camera. I got lucky that the previous owner put an aftermarket one since the 1lt (yes it’s a v6 🙁) doesn’t have a backup camera from the factory so idk how I’d back out of crowded parking lots w/o it

I do think its overblown I agree. It’s talked about so much as if you can’t see at all out of them LOL. But like you said if you are cautious and a good driver it should be no problem really.

Thank you for the video. When I went to test out a gen 5, the problem I had with the short windshield was not being able to see the stoplight when I'm first at a light. Any issues with that?

On some lights occasionally that has happened but not really has it been a huge deal. I can only remember 2 or 3 times ever.

I've got a car even worse in visibility for anyone who is at the very least six foot, and you've likely never heard of it. Cimbria SS, it's a kit car, look it up and you'll see how badly sloped that windshield is.

What about being first in line at a red light? When I tried one out I couldn't see the stoplight because of the short windshield.

I haven’t really had too much of a problem with that, mainly the side pillars being so large. But I could see if you are under the light, that being a problem.

Other than the visibility, how’s the maintenance and everything on the car? Would you recommend getting tints on the car?

Do not have the car anymore but after two years of ownership, including oil changes it was around $1200 in maintenance. The car was pretty reliable. I personally like tints but wouldn’t go too dark.

I really wanted to get a zl1 or a zo6. So i test drove a camaro ss and as a 6’3 240 guy it was really hard for me to see. When I got in the vette is was a bit better obviously much lower. But still torn on what to get.

3:37 yeah it’s not just the Camaro with that problem I’m sure there’s a few cars with that issue but my Honda Civic i has an issue a while back where when I was turning to enter a the road I didn’t see a pedestrian that was standing directly near that spot from my pov driving and I almost hit them until my passenger pointed them out so yeah that’s definitely a bit dangerous depending how self aware one can be. I had a highlander before my civic and never ran into that issue due to more visibility I guess you could say but just would like to put that out.

I've owned a SS 1LE for close to 5 years now and have had zero issues, including the visibility claim made by the media and internet keyboard warriors. Totally overblown and the go to for GM/Camaro haters to cover up the fact that their car of choice is not at the same level of performance (read not a straight line) compared to the 6th Gen Camaro. Lest we forget all of the mustnag issues over the past several years here is a brief summary. Blown engines, oil usage that is somehow acceptable and rationalized as normal for "race engines" (LOL right), locked rear ends, blown/inoperable transmissions, limp mode, overheating, sub-par braking, and finally crowd seeking feature when leaving car shows. Not to mention for all of these failings mustnag owners pay more than a comparable Camaro and still are at a disadvantage to the use of an inferior chassis (s550/s650) full of band aids in an attempt to compete with GM Alpha chassis. In the case of the mustnag/challenger, they do win when it comes to the number of grocery bags you can bring home from the grocery store. And we all know how important that is in a performance car.

Being able to judge the front end is the big issue, and Camaro is the only car which you cannot do that, hense the reason I've never bought one. You cannot judge the front end because you can't see it.

@@NLM I will say my 2010 SS Camaro was a ton of fun to drive, but I traded into it from a 2008 Mustang which had excellent visibility. To be fair, the newer Camaros might be much better, plus they now have backup cameras and side monitoring which would help a lot. BTW, good job on the video!

I definitely like Mustangs for sure. The visibility is a little better on Mustangs I would say, but I think the Camaro looks better in most cases. But there are some crazy nice lookin Mustangs, especially the S550’s!

unless your over 6.5 like me and had to fucking duck to even see stop signs street lights street signs and generally every other f-ing thing. or I had to gangster lean back to see out my 2012 camaros front window. I F-ing hated 5th gen besides the mechanical problems it started having with my Aisin Ay6 manual trans...I had a V6 and GM not making parts for that trans anymore given only 15% of sales had them. once i hit 33 years old that car stated to Wreck my Back i had to stop driving it and barrow a car because I could no longer drive mine ex around the block once a week. in the 6 months i stopped driving the car it mechanically totaled its self did not even have 60,000 miles on it.
