Wandering Jimmy, Congrats on getting the van back! I can tangibly sense your joy and relief. Speaking of minivan life being hard, have you heard from Kelly Doyle and Sofie recently? She hasn't posted anything for a month and I wonder how she's doing - things were kind of difficult in her last few videos. I miss seeing her and Sophie.

I’m so glad you have your van back and in good working order. 🥳 It’s definitely time to get Olive a booster for her seat so she can see out the window.✨ I agree that a minivan is more insecure than a big van. Kelly is right about that.👍

I'm going to defend minivans here. I can understand you wanting your van back. And I can also understand you wanting more room than the mini van provides. But I don't get where you think the minivan is less safe. First of all, when it comes to stealth, nothing beats a minivan. I once owned a Toyota Sienna mini van. I could park just about anywhere, any normal parking space and any parking structure. I had all my back windows limo tinted. In addition, I had window blockers that fit each window in my van, including the front windows. It was reflectix on one side and black out on the other. I installed window deflectors that allowed me to crack the windows at night for ventilation without anyone really knowing the windows were slightly open. I had a couple of USB powered fans to keep air circulating to minimize condensation. I spent many nights in my mini van and I'm sure nobody knew. My van came with the all wheel drive option, which not only made it safer to drive in snow, but gave me better traction when I left the pavement as well. I also had a lift kit installed which gave me 10 inches of ground clearance. That's more than any SUV except the Jeep Wrangler. Inside, I had a cot, an ice chest, various camping gear, even a cassette porta potty so I didn't have to exit my vehicle at night when nature called. Whenever you felt unsafe in a mini van you just crawled into the front seat, started it up and took off! And being that it was a Toyota, I felt confident about it's reliability. I never had a break down that put me at risk. The only reason I sold it was I wanted a more off road capable vehicle so I could get into more remote areas, away from people. I now own a Jeep and I've slept in that too.

Home sweet home on wheels... I'm so happy for you and ♡Miss Olive♡. Keeping you in my prayers
@kathifoynm4 жыл бұрын
Your thoughts about comfort and safety while living on wheels was helpful. I'm in a minivan because I've owned it since 2012 and it suits my needs. It is outfitted so as to be flexible, so if one of my adult children wants to borrow it for a road trip, I whip out my gear and install the seats and they have an eight passenger van ready to go. I've kept the second row passenger seat handy for when I'm transporting a grandkid who needs to be in a car seat in the backseat. I was just in Colorado for the weekend (up from NM) and enjoyed the colors and mountains. As for safety, I moochdocked in front of friends' house in Longmont one night, spent one night in Pike National Forest at Horseshoe campground (only the cost of a coffee with my senior discount) and spent a night in a Covid-19 safe motel in Salida when I needed secure internet for an important Zoom event. I realized I felt safe in each place, but my dog Blanco barked the most in the motel!!! He loves to travel and is great company. I realized on this trip when I had the option of boondocking or paying a campground fee, I felt more secure in a campground. Food for thought, everyone has different needs. Glad you are safe back in your van.
