Glad you figured out what was going on with the first video! Chimecho is definitely one of those Pokemon that doesn't stand out in the fandom's consciousness but still puts in the work. And its performance in this run is definitely a testament to how much you've been improving both in general gameplay and in Emerald specifically!

Forgot to say this in your Rayquaza video, but I hope you know to put Solarbeam on Groudon, and Thunder on Kyogre, when you do cover them. You get free setup for both those moves to take away their drawbacks. Also I like when you have your character drawing show up on the left when you face a gym leader or other tough trainer, it gives the impression that you're challenging them.

Two observations. Modest is good. Fast EXP Growth Rate is good. These helped Chimecho a lot. It will be interesting to see how EXP growth and base stats continue to affect runs in Emerald. Note: I'm recommenting with a similar comment to my original since this video was reposted.

Yawn is pretty good. A guaranteed sleep on the second turn is often more reliable than 60% chance on first, then another on second. The risk of missing two in a row is only 16%, but you know how it goes with moves around 85% accuracy lol

Imagine my confusion when I finish watching the Chimecho video, go back to the homepage for KZbin, and somehow see the Chimecho video in my recommended...uploaded 45 minutes ago. I honestly didn't really notice anything 'wrong' with the original upload, except for the BGM during the Victory Road section being a bit loud and that seems to have been addressed here so I'm guessing that's related to the stuff mentioned in the description!

I used chimecho for the 1st time when I was about 17 (I’m 27 now) and ever since it’s become a staple on my team if it’s available. It’s not fantastically powerful or anything but it’s incredibly reliable. It fits the definition of “Good Pokémon” perfectly.

Hey, it's me! The guy who leaves very long comments on your videos! I think you played this one excellently, your improvement was very visible. There's only one piece of advice I can give. I think you should have learned Shock Wave right away. You wouldn't have needed o use physical moves against dark types as often. You could argue it was for Wallace, but it is weaker than Psychic. 60x2=120 90x1.5=135 Psychic is always stronger except for against Gyarados, Sharpedo and Crawdaunt. Other than that small detail, good job. You did this one really well.

Great showing from both Chimecho and your continuing improvements on Emerald! The biggest problem with Chimecho is that it was a super late STUPID RARE encounter in Hoenn. Like... 5% or less chance in the top area of Mt Pyre?! I don't know why they added Chingling to the line in Gen 4, I feel like getting a Chimecho by the second gym wouldn't have been terrible.
@iantaakalla81802 жыл бұрын
It’s not like Chimecho is a super powerful Pokémon either; Chimecho is basically a Pokémon in between third-fifth gyms if power was fully in effect. It is powerful and has STAB psychic moves but it certainly is not a Pokémon you want on your Elite 4 run.

I actually really liked Chimecho back when Ruby/Sapphire first came out; it had a cute design and I thought it was interesting how it was a rare encounter on Mt. Pyre. I don't think I really used one in my playthrough since I already had Gardevoir on my team, but I did use it a lot in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Anyway, Chimecho really showed up here! Calm Mind strats are overall really good and I think any mon with access to that move will do well to use it.

Chimecho is one of those weird pokemon where, like. It's not exceptional in any sense of the word, it's outclassed by lots of pokemon by a clear margin. But it's just, like... Good. It's not crazy, it doesn't have a lot for coverage (thankfully Hidden Power exists now), but it's designed to be a special sweeper, and, for the story? It works.

Commenting again cause I know it helps! Same comment as on the last video but always good for the algorithim. Growth rates are a fair metric when judging a Pokemon, yes Chimecho ended at a higher level but so what? It probably still had inferior stats to Mewtwo and you did almost if not the exact same battles with both Pokemon. You treated them fairly and Chimecho got to shine because of it.

hey Scott, the moveset overlay doesn't have a power listed for double edge just ##. might be an issue with your code edit not a code thing, it not displaying correctly as the column is too narrow to show the power. you might need to adjust your overlay for moves with 100+ power, especially for later Gen games as more powerful moves are added

I recently ran an emerald hardcore nuzlocke with single stage mons, and Chimecho put in work. It was the inspiration for the run, as I've never used it, and I was not disappointed. Question: In gen 3, if your hidden power is a special type like fire or ice, does it roll damage based on your special attack? I know that no matter the type, counter affects it and not mirror coat.
