I think that he’s a quiet but dangerous kind of guy when it comes to football plays. You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room to win a national championship! GBO 🍊🏈

Great point Jon! I think his style is better for the player's today because they don't usually respond well to the yelling and name calling!

I think Heupel's attitude is a big selling point for TN. He can relate to them easier having played the game. He's a bit younger than me and recall him well as a player. Even than I thought his personality meshed well with players. He pushes the, "teach technical vs over-bearing" approach and I think it compliments what he runs offensively. Understanding why you are doing what you are doing on your assignment and being able to recognize mistakes and that you aren't going to slapped upside the head if you make mistakes. He gives you so long to get it down while others are competing against you for that position. Best man wins. It's a more cerebral approach than it is a, "feel my wrath" approach. This is an advantage to a coach like Saban. Saban couldn't fix anything on his team, personally or sing-handedly. Was all on the coordinators. That isn't Heupel. He can personally fix the offense and develop it, tweak it. And throwing your clipboard on the sideline while slamming your headset isn't going to change your teams performance, like we've seen Saban do. But allowing clear questions from players on issues and it being ok to have them, works for Heupel.

Great comment! I agree with this G, Heupel is the perfect type of coach for today's football players and we will start to see more coaches like him!

@@bluechipbreakdown I think so too. I mean you get better by being taught how to recognize mistakes. And you don't have to worry about auditioning on every single snap, drills or run throughs in practice. Kids today feel they can learn if they aren't stressing about having to impress people while they are just learning the dynamics of those positions. This team I think made such strides because this newer style of coaching is, "if you don't like it or you do it least well, we'll pull it". Predominantly for the offense and NIco. I idea of that is to only execute in games what players do the best at, and whom does that the best. Confusing but the method to this is genius.

I agree , we at the beginning of a championship window. With Nico, and with Merklinger no slouch and now with McIntyre in the wings our QB situation looks better than any other team.

I like Coach Heupel that he wants to win, likes to score a lot, keeps his cards hidden and loves his players. I also like that he has a long memory (very much looking forward to the OK game!!!) Best of all he is a winner and knows what it takes to be one at the highest level.

Coach is extremely competitive. We all know he doesn't even let his kids win a game of anything. Also, Erik Ainge, who has full 24/7 access to the program, said Coach Heup's not afraid to break his foot off in you if he has to. He's a winner. Don't let his nice guy demeanor fool ya. GB🍊!!!

No, he's not too laid back to win. He just doesn't want to have a stroke. I've been saying this for a while that UT is making the expanded college football playoffs and winning a game or two.

We will need better depth in order to play that many "high level games". We were already at 15 games for a Natty in a 4 team playoff.

I think Heup has the perfect blend of desirable coach qualities. Even though he's laid back, he's highly competitive. I think guys will play hard for a coach because they love him or they fear him. In the end, I think advantage goes to guys who will run through a brick wall for you because they love you. I don't really understand why Heup is rated so far behind other SEC coaches in lists I've seen. I mean, who's a better coach - the guy who goes 11-1 with all 5 stars on his team, or the guy who goes 10-2 with a couple of great players on his team? I'd give it to the latter any day.

I think 25 can be a good year, but remember we will be losing all of the top talent on our lines after 24. The young players will have to improve a lot for 25 to be a better roster, but I can see us making deep runs both seasons!

It's going to be a small red flag if we have another sub par recruiting class. I thought we got a lot of great value last year and thought the class was underrated. But if we're talking natty contention we need some bare minimum top 8 classes on a regular basis.

I dont think so cause when josh pete interciewed him about month ago he steaight up said their no excuses for why we dont win its on us he knows what it takes to go to the natty and win it... he will win a natty i hope at tn but if something bad happens he leaves he will win a natty one yr mark my words.. he fot that family is steonger then anything mentality and everyone by in this team will be in hunt for yrs to come

Saban is only the "goat" because he had the soon to be omitted NCAA in his back pocket. He coached at Alabama for 13 years and had not even so much as allegations formally brought against them. If you're wondering, they're the ONLY school during that time frame to do so. Even Vanderbilt was investigated. Funny, they can all drive dodge chargers out of Tuscaloosa and the NCAA sees nothing, but even James Franklin got investigated at Vanderbilt. Things that make you go "hhhhmmmmm". Heupel will go down as a top 10 all time coach before its said and done. He coaches up and schemes his games, not just illegally obtains a top tier roster year after year. BANK

I don’t get super laid back vibes from Heupel. I think he is cool with how he interacts with players. But he seems super competitive and extremely detail oriented, but he tries to hide it. He goes on 4th down too much to be considered too laid back lol.
