0:54 as if your not being recorded everytime you simply exist within a public space, especially on a university campus I would imagine. I used to live near Tom, and went to a university near Harvard and MIT where people at my school were socializing at most of the colleges in the area. The parties at Harvard were the most crowded ones to the point that there wasn't always enough space to socialize or do much beyond drinking. It was just too many people ime to the point that it just felt crowded, like standing at an indoor sold out concert. Knowledge is worth it, university is an overpriced way to get a ticket (degree) to enter higher tiers of the job market and as a consequence of the price becomes exclusionary to a massive portion of the population. The cost of college is tragic because it is too expensive for many people to get a well rounded education while specializing in an interest. A liberal arts education expands your knowledge so much into areas that one is not familiar with. The intrinsic value of learning what you want, be it community college, trade school, university, college, or grad school, is an incredible way to grow as a person and should not be locked behind a huge paywall. Much of the same knowledge is available for free or at the cost of video-games in the form of DVD or online lecture series from famous professors and experts. I like the system where states have free resources online to prepare for different certification tests and those resources are usually free. Someone with no money for college can learn just as much or more with free resources like KZbin and libraries but never be able to access the career fields that they want to because they don't have a diploma. I guess my response to the question is that it's a socioeconomic series of decisions. So my opinion is that if college is a massive financial burden and potentially a path towards debt that postponing it might make sense. For example, a good trade school is inexpensive and a near direct path towards a career in that trade which over time could change your financial situation so that you can afford college in a way that's worth it. Plumbers, mechanics, and electricians for example can make much more money after trade school than someone who doesn't go to college or trade school. Most importantly they can make more than a graduate who is deep in debt. I had plenty of teachers at my small high school in New England who got a BA that they could afford, worked and saved and then went to grad school to study their passion without breaking the bank. I know very few peers with prestigious undergrad degrees who make as much as my old electrician was (he was making 70k). So I think that at present it makes more sense financially for many people to go into a trade school after high school, work in that trade, and then go to college and or graduate school later on, while also using online resources to prepare for various certification tests, like for tech etc in the meantime.

I just got my associates from community college recently. Personally, I'd say in my experience, it was worth it, but mostly because it was easy to get a certain scholarship in my state, and the professors I had were currently practicing what they were teaching us since most of them were law enforcement and lawyers since I majored in criminal justice. However, a lot of my friends who are much more successful I am did not go to college or sometimes even high school, either working a trade, joining the military or being self employed. I think if you do well academically college might be for you, but there's also several work and life skills that you don't learn in school or college, so it's very possible to be successful without having a college degree (I mean, just look at Tom! XD)
@lixo9899 ай бұрын
Thankfully where i live, you can get free college education, however, a lot of older generations pass on this idea that graduating college is the only way to get money, i've seen countless times people wasting 3-4 years of their lives to get into their dream college and spend another 5-6 just to graduate, so even without considering the financial aspect of it, most college degrees aren't worth your time. There are other ways to make money, spend that time learning a trait/skill and work hard as hell and you'll get there.

Go to a trade school if you're not going hard in life to be a lawyer, a doctor, and maybe architecture. Anyone can major in Psychology. You don't want the debt. You can do anything you want if you put your mind to it. Self taught people who learn everything find that knowledge is much more rewarding when you don't have student loans weighing you down!

My overall take is you should go if you have the opportunity to do it without it crippling yourself financially but if your gonna have to rely on a massive student loan it’s not even worth it

Dropped out of school and worked hard af, investing tons of time and effort into my work.
