Hey Frank. Fellow Montanan here, and a KCBS competitor out of Helena. There are 5 competitions in MT right now for 2024. Hopefully 6 next year. Absarokee, Miles City, Dillon, East Helena and Bozeman all have sanctioned competitions. Looks like Big Timber will be doing a sanctioned competition next year. They’ve done an unsanctioned competition the last couple of years.

The idea of demos combined perhaps with live music would get more public engagement. This does have to be based on return on investment for providing it

I agree that there needs to be a way to get the public involved. It blows my mind still that anyone would pay $25/person to get into MiM and you just get to walk around and look at people cooking. We'll be cooking at the Paola, KS Roots Festival next weekend and I love the way they do it. They have it connected with a blues festival at the same time. Osage City does a taste of on Friday night where people can buy chits and then participating teams can sell their food and get a chunk of the proceeds off that.

Raise to $400 for larger slots. And how about Cowboy Charcoal sponser the people’s choice award. If the purse is lucrative teams will want to participate. Awards for 1st, 2nd, and third. People would love to come sample and vote. Charge $25 per person to participate.
