Don't forget that the Rogers Place facility also has the Edmonton Community Rink attached to it which the Oilers regularly use as a practice rink. It's all in the same building so the concert will have no impact on team practices for the final. They can load into their dressing room and not have to leave other than go down a different hallway when they walk out of the dressing room.

Are they actually laughing at era adjusted stats? MLB has been using them for years now. OPS+ is just OPS but era and stadium adjusted. It is the exact same stat (no predictive or projected performance at all), but with era and stadium factor adjustments. And it is probably the most used stat to say who is a better hitter (wRC+ is arguably better but that is less approachable for stat haters). I haven't dove into the era adjusted stats for hockey because I'm newer to the sport. But if the calculations are solid, that means way more to be than the absolute point totals. It's why people love Crosby so much even if they don't say it. He was dropping 100 point seasons when no one was getting close.

I guess you have to ask yourself the question would the Oilers be were they are without McDavid. If yes, then he isnt the obvious conn smythe winner out of all potential candidates. If the answer is no then he is the conn smythe winner. Simple. If oilers loses next game. And bob or barkov plays excellent, i dont see McDavid winning it. Despite him playing well these past 2 games. Now if McDavid was responsible for 95% of Oilers’ playoff points, then maybe sure. Give it to him, win or lose. Remember that they had depth guys like Brown scoring extremely important gut punching goals. More important than McDavid’s probably. Personally for me goalie is the most importantn position in hockey. If you have a good goalie, you win, if you have a bad one, you lose. So for me the conn smythe by default should always be the goalie. Goalie in hockey is what the Quarterback is in American Football. Most fans dont appreciate that tho. They just look at points, but forget that there is a guy that solely prevents your team from getting scored by literally tending the goal. And if you have Brodeur for example in net, you dont need McDavid/Draisatl lvl of offense to win. Not even close. When NJ was dominating NHL their best offensive player was frigging Patrik Elias, Scott Gomez and Jamie Langenbrunner in a league with frigging Peter Forsberg, Naslund, Lemieux, prime Joe Thornton etc. I would trade Drai/McDavid for a Brodeur in a heartbeat. You would still be left with one of the two amazing offensive players.
