@@pimcramer2569 Cort is the largest guitar maker in the world. They are the "ghost writers" for many other brands. If your guitar comes from Korea, Indonesia or China, there's a good chance it was made by Cort.

I just bought this identical bass. It’s comfortable to sit and stand with. Cort paid attention to the ergonomics. The machine heads are great quality and the overall design and quality down to the finish is really really nice. It’s more than I expected at this price point. The pickups in my opinion are great. They provide a variety of tonal options that make for a really versatile instrument. No complaints here I’m a believer, if you’re looking for a really great quality bass you should seriously consider the Cort C4.

To me Cort basses remind me of Arias in the 80s and 90s. By that I mean overlooked and under the radar for the most part, but fine quality instruments that once you play them you love them! 😊👍

I have an aria pro ii magna 5 string jazz bass and apart from a weird 15 mm string spacing and the pickups not being suited for drop g it’s pretty good really good tuning stability

Your're right. It almost looks like an Aria SB body would slide right over it and you wouldn't notice the difference. 'Cause basically...there ain't none!

@@kalidesu the stock pickups are shit. Always have been. I have an older 1991 artisan B5 and the stock mighty mite pickups and preamp were terrible. They sounded weak, processed, muddy, and didn't let the bass speak. Replaced with EMG 40Jxs and the BTS system and I couldn't be happier. Can finally hear the wenge neck growl away. Mark Michelle uses them on his warwicks and the emgs don't take away from the warwick sound at all. Other options are Delano SBCs, Bartolini singularities, and Nordstands. Get the stock mighty mites or Bartonlini MK1s and the preamp out asap and your Cort will immediately sound like the high end bass it wants to be.

I agree. Had the same Bart1 pups in my Ibby SG 505. They did the job but weren't as meaty as other buckers I've played.

The Bartolini MK-1 are IMHO pretty good pickups, in a pragmatic way. Yes, they sound a bit boring when you play alone, but in a band setting they shine :) Take the Cort to a rehearsal or gig and you will be surprised! They do not have a ton of character, but they work in every environment, every genre and with every amp. The Bartolinis didn't do it for me, either, in the beginning. But I've learned to really appreciate them.

Indeed, MK1s are really great in a mix, even at lower volume settings the bass doesn't disappear. I fell in love with B4, and boughr B5 also. They're one of the most beautifully and effectively built basses, especially ergonomics wise - it feels like they're a natural extension of my body - check out my cover clips

I think that it's also has something to do with the preamp. The markbass preamp doesn't sounds good to my ears. The mk1 pickup sounds great paired with the mk1 preamp.

Nice groove Patric! loved it! I have owned a few basses including a 70's Vintage Epiphone. I now got the C4 and I just love it! Great look and tone and also weighs lighter that my other basses. It's rocks especially in active mode using the pre-amp for slap techniques. Worth every penny for sure

I’ve been playing Cort 5 string basses for a few years now, I even have the economy line Action V plus basses, upgrade to a A Hipshot A style bridge, heavy metal knobs and tuners....these basses play phenomenal for the $$$! The body is ergonomic and neck is so playable it’s easy to log hours in without fatigue. Thanks for finally reviewing a Cort bass!!!

@@RadityoPramAdi just know ahead of time if you buy one, you may have to do some fret leveling and truss rod setup right out of the box...because the come from overseas kinda wonky, but once setup they are hard to put down. This is mainly the economy line the Action series, the Artisan series is so much better right out of the box in my opinion.

A cort A4 was my first bass from back in 2005. I love the headstock notch, because it betrays the woods in the instrument in a uniform way model to model. Easier to compare what's going on.

I got a cort B4 11 years ago not too dissimilar to this. Cost me £500 pounds and it has always stayed in tune no matter the weather or the playing. The neck is my favourite thing. Especially at the nut. No bass will ever have a better neck but I do now prefere the old retro p bass or j bass pick ups. Cort is awesome and I'll always keep the one I have even if it isnt what sound I'm after now. Always served me well gigging.

I have one with the zebrawood finish. I prefer the ovalkong. I have a problem with the tuners when transporting in the gigbag, but while playing, there is no problem. It does sound better in Patrick's hands than in mine. Nice video.

I used to sell Cort products back in the day when I had a store, I liked the basses back then too. Guitars... nah not so much but I am not a guitar player. Unfortunately I had a hard time moving them because the name on the headstock did not say Fender or Squire on them. I found the Cort at the entry level market to be superior (IMO) to at least Squire, Epiphone, Dean at the time. I am glad they are starting to make some inroads into the market. Some day I would like to get the new B4 Element. If you are not into Bart pickups, I would like to see you load it up with Nordstrand DC4 pickups and give another video.

Cort should have definitely sent you the B or A series rather... Love my B5 Plus! Also not a fan of the Bartolini MK1 pickups though, weakest point of these basses for sure. I'm going to upgrade them later this year. They have a new model, A5 Ultra Ash, it has some insanely good specs! Fishman pickups etc. You should definitely check that one out. Glad you finally did a review on Cort though! Congrats on 40k subs too!

I had a Curbow bass which I LOVED...except for the lone Bart pup didn't sound very meaty. The fit finish and playability was PHENOMINAL. It felt like a SS bass and the action was as low as even the most pricey basses I've had w NO buzz.

I've had a Cort Action 5 for 20 years and its been great. I had a B4 for a few years and really regret selling it. Just upgraded to a A5 plus scms and its the money. I quite like the mk1 barts tbh.

Unfortunately not all of them are available in South Africa. Of everything i have had a look at, i keep coming back to Cort because of availability and BASS for buck. I would really love it if you could review the Cort B5 Plus AS, a bass that i have had my eye on for quite some time now. That piece you played at 6:30 ... Totally Awesome dude !!!
