You're strong. I have been there (serious depression) and gotten out (a long time ago) but you're stronger than me. Your honesty and intelligence will save you. Ultimately though, you're going to have one hell of a youtube channel because you're a very good speaker, you're smart and honest. NO CLUE how you showed up on my feed because I'm NOT your demo.

I think in your situation, it could be. If you’re feeling sorry for yourself and that is what is causing it. However, many people don’t know what’s causing it. It’s like having an illness that is triggered but you don’t know what the trigger is. If there is a trigger and you know what the trigger is and keep partaking in said trigger, sure. But for me. I knew what was causing it. Working back to back days and never having a weekend off to reset and working nights along with evenings against my will. I have issues with insomnia. What I have learned to alleviate that until I found another job is to stop talking to everyone. 😂 I’m laughing because I truly think I’m neurodivergent. My parents are nice to me but anytime we talk, it’s about outside drama/gossip. I didn’t care what they were discussing but I was forcing myself to participate. Meanwhile, I was just diagnosed with an illness. I already have anxiety and MDD. My advice, along with yours, is to take some supplements like vitamin D or anything else that well help your mood that your body naturally needs. The point is, do whatever you can to make yourself feel normal, even if it makes others unhappy. As long as you aren’t actually hurting anybody. When I did this, much of the overthinking and consideration of others feelings went away. When I finally got a weekend off, I deep cleaned my house for hours. Even made myself dinner. She’s right about the processed foods though. They lack nutrients and it exacerbates your symptoms. Also, if you smoke weed. Stop it. If you drink alcohol, stop it. Also, please don’t overthink your food (like macros and stuff). We don’t want to develop an eating disorder. Overthinking is what causes stress as well. Reduce what is causing stress. Confront it if possible. Whether it's your work or your family. I personally wouldnt do caffeine if you have anxiety. But yeah. Start with cleaning and organizing your living space and go from there. A decluttered house is a decluttered mind. Edit: Personally think this video is more along the lines of how to alleviate depression that is circumstantial rather than whether or not it’s a choice. People don’t know that their phones are causing depression or that their food is causing depression or, if they got lab work, they are actually nutrient deficient. What’s that show called? Human Resources or Big Mouth. The big purple cat is sitting on your chest. Don’t let them win. ❤ Also, there was one time, my grandfather died, I thought the grief was making me suicidal. Turns out I was “very sad” but my birth control (a “light version” apparently that I was prescribed a couple of months before) was causing me to cry every day, see darkness and want to fight people. When I stopped taking it, the dark clouds cleared like magic. Find your trigger! I refuse to take birth control anymore as well. I’d rather live another day.

here's why it's probably not, and if yes, it's trivially so. everything is either determined or random. reality may be separate atoms or one singular existent. it doesn't matter what the 'nature' of these is; they can be physical, ie. exhaustively characterizable by mathematically expressible structures & non-experiential properties, or intrinsically experiential, eg. souls or whatever spooky, mysterious, obscure existents that we can't empirically investigate and feature as conjectures most usually in religions, occult, magical, speculative stuff. why the nature of reality doesn't matter is that whatever the existent(s) are, whatever happens is either caused or random. we can't in fact ever determine whether 'true randomness' exists, as for that we'd necessarily need to know that we've eliminated every possible unknown and/or unknowable causality, which is a hubristic, unempirical claim. but even if randomness does exist, which remains a conjecture, it just means that something merely happened without *any* kind of explanation or intelligibility, untethered to anything. that's the point. the other option is that stuff is caused; it's determined; things *make* other things happen. here comes agrippa's trilemma if we ask why questions & conjecture that explanations can exist, that it can make sense to ask why, because there exists at least one kind of explanation. conceivable answers are circularity, infinite regress, fundamentality. (if you can think of any novel options, you can make a superstar career in philosophy academia.) circularity is incoherent gibberish, as it's a causa-sui situation; A-->B-->C-->A. A pre-exists & gives rise to A. if it's the same A, then this is an incoherent language game. perhaps if the first A is random, then we can say that it's fine, though that will be a mix of fundamentalism fundamentality means that there is some fundamental, basic level of reality that just exists brutely, again without any explanation. this is an existent that explains everything else but is unexplained. infinite regress can explain everything, but it's an actual infinity, so there cannot be any final or 'ultimate' satisfaction, which some consider a drawback, but it's not evidence against whether it's in fact the case. regardless of our access to information, there may just be endless explanations. now, what matters most is that both randomness and determinism renders any theory of desert/responsibility-apt theory of 'choice' moot. what explains every instance of your existence and the differences between any people, are either randomness, or that things (remember, whatever their nature is, be it non-experiential physical stuff or souls or selves or whatever) cause other things. what matters is the distinguishable, differential *informational pattern* of whatever exists. what i mean is just the obvious observation that even if whatever exists is all 'one' in some non-trivial, awe-inspiring, super deep sense, there's differentiation. stuff is differentially configured; whether it's separate atoms or the states of the one singular stuff, what matters are the differential informational patterns. so you're either depressed or whatever because; 1. it's just the case randomly 2. caused by a fundamental cause, or part of an infinite chain on neither view do strong views of 'desert' or responsibility or blame, praise, punishment... make sense, if they presume that anything that happens is under control. stuff just happens. the specific way you and only you are is determined by gene-environment interaction and/or possibly randomness. this applies globally, ie. whatever you do or the way you try change in any given moment, is either exhaustively determined by inherited genes interacting with inherited environment or random, or a soul or self or whatever that was created or always just existed or just popped into existence uncreated. if the latter is the case, the question would still remain; why is your soul exactly the way it is? well, it's either because it's random or determined, and whatever you do will be wholly or partly determined by your paricular differential informational patterns, which either came to be randomly or something else caused it to be that way. there's no bootstrapping, or jumping out of reality, or controlling, that would make sense of views like "depression or whatever is in your control/responsibility". but idk, lemme know if you disagree, i'm a fallibilist about ~everything, except that 'something exists.'

@isabellacampione yay! forgot to add what i meant by "if yes, it's trivially so." so one can construe 'choice' via a 'sourcehood' theory, ie. you are responsible for x in case you are the source of x. this isn't an alternative to causation or randomness, but may clarify our thinking, as it allows accurate attribution; it really is you and not cthulhu to whom we may attribute x. i think that this is trivial, as it's a minor clarification and doesn't explain how or why is x in fact occurring through you, but at least if such a view is the case, you'd be the source & not cthulhu. but then again, how would you empirically establish whether this is the case if cthulhu influences you in unknown & perhaps unknowable ways?
