You should also mention, that when using DJI care refresh, you are not getting back the same drone that you send in. They put yours at the back of the que and they send you back a refurbished unit that someone else sent in for repairs. This is how they speed up the process. Unfortunately that means you’ll be getting back a drone that possibly sustained more damage than the one you sent in.

Hi there, love the show, i've learned tons. Care refresh YES YES YES I crashed my spark in a tree about a month after purchase. Called into DJI and filled out the required info and sent in with their address and shipping label. The whole process took about a week and a half, and a NEW DRONE was shipped back. YAY DJI really did have good cust service up to the point of getting too many emails asking how i felt with their service. So I think they are trying to improve

I know the video is a few years old by now, but you are mentioning that the cost is around 10% for the care plan and around 10 % for the repair. Looking it up now the plan is 26% and the second repair is 37%! A considerable difference from 10%.

I just looked up the Mini lineup, it's still around 10% for 1 year or 16% for 2 years. The Air2S is also around 10% for the 1-year Care coverage or 17% for the 2-year plan.

I would recommend AGAINST the DJI Care Refresh. My drone crashed into the ocean as a result of drone error. The drone lost Satellite Connection over the ocean and it never regained connection. The drone is supposed to return to home after extended disconnect time, but that didn't work either. I provided my flight records to DJI and they clearly showed it was not pilot error, clearly stated that the drone lost satellite connection and never recovered, and it also clearly showed that the drone never made it back to the home point, but crashed into the ocean (so they know Im not just trying to scam them for a free drone). My DJI MAVIC 2 PRO is also still under the 1 year warranty, so this malfunction should have been covered. I don't understand why the policy excludes deep water crashes - as long as it's not pilot error. Whats the difference if we crash on land or in thea sea, if the drone malfunctioned, they shoudl replace it. SHOULD I JUST NEVER FLY OVER WATER NOW? I live in Hawaii and I mainly shoot ocean scenes. BOTTOM LINE- PASS ON THE DJU CARE REFRESH as they will do their best not to pay out.

A friend of mine lost his Mini 2 in water after it made itself drop in without controller input and DJI Refresh is not helping replace due to "pilot error". Pretty sure that was the point of purchasing the Refresh, terrible experience for him so far where they keep changing the story on him.

Could you clarify what 3rd party damage means? If I put on a flotation device on the drone, will this invalidate coverage if it crashes into water? On one hand, you mentioned that attaching accessories will exclude coverage and yet the purpose of attaching a flotation device is to make recovery of the drone easier.

Thanks for the Info but please note that DJI CARE facility is not for all the Countries like they have mentioned to me when I applied. They asked me for a verification Video and after the verification Video the response was: At the moment, DJI Care Refresh is only available to customers from the U.S., Canada, EU countries, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Mainland China.

So the regular warranty covers it if it "falls out of the sky", but DJI Care Refreash covers water damage. What if it just suddenly falls out of the sky right into a lake? Would the normal warranty cover that?

Hey Tom...came across your video after my drone couldn't be found either after a system failure or user error. I was flying today in the Rocky Mountains and suddenly nothing on the screen. There were no warning signals. Moments later I was able to get an image and it was clear it was on the ground...then no signal again. Problem is, there are cliffs, forest, river, DEEP snow and risk of avalanches. Almost impossible and dangerous to find. So while I have the Care Refresh (which I have used for my Inspire 2), sounds like DJI would tell me to risk going in avalanche areas to try and find it instead of replacing it. Hmmm.

One problem with DJi Care Refresh is their timing. I purchased DCR along with a Spark drone. Care Refresh has been active for several days now and is good for exactly one year. Problem is, I have yet to receive the Spark. According to tracking, it won't arrive for three more days, so DJi has effectively robbed me of one week of coverage.

What would happen if I turn my drone in as a fly away? DJI sends me a new drone and then weeks later I find my drone that I had lost. What do you do in that situation? Do you need to send the new drone back or can you keep both and will my old one still work? Or does DJI deactivate the old drone via the serial number? I'm sure DJI has some system in place. Otherwise people would sign up for the DJI Care and tell DJI they lost their drone and get another drone for a fraction of the price. It doesn't make sense. How do they avoid this?

Hi Tom - Very informative information ! I've just had a ten day ordeal with DJI care - Please add a short video about buying a drone second hand with "remaining" DJI replacement credits. The information on the DJI website is incorrect and leads a consumer to think the care is not transferrable in a private sale, when, alas, it is transferrable, because, It is bound to the serial number of the device. This caused a lot of confusion with myself, the folks at DJI, and wasted time buying DJI plans that could not be applied - The website has no checks to prevent buying a plan against an existing contract. ( Who knew ?!? ) - It's all sorted, but wow ... Cheers

It sounds all lovely, maybe in the USA, but in real life DJI has the worst service imaginable. I live in Europe, have a Spark with damaged flex cable to the camera, You cannot buy a flex cable, you have to buy the complete camera unit for $180 Mavic the same nonsense costing over $250. If you break flex cable on your Phantom it will cost $9. I asked DJI USA for a service number in Europe so I goed get a quote, I got a number for Amsterdam Netherlands, calling this number I got a guy in Singapore. He could not tell me what the repair would cost, most likely better to buy a new one, but I will never buy another DJI product, even if a lifelong Care Refresh is included

I will give an update on my experience with DJI Care Refresh, but my situation is different... I crashed my Mavic On the side of a mountain. It's lost in bushes on an incredibly treacherous slope, and unless my rescue attempt using another friend's drone can find it, hook it, and fly out out, I won't be able to return it to DJI. The potential 500ft fall to the bottom of the canyon is not worth the risk.

And here is the problem with dji refresh . If you can't recover it " like in your situation " the dji care was a complete waste of money. If it flies away , or goes in the water and is unretrievable it was a waste of money. IMO it is only good for a new flier with no experience in case they crash it and can go over and pick it up and are able to send it back to dji.

DJI denied my DJI Care Refresh claim. They acknowledged that it was too dangerous for me to attempt to recover my Mavic Pro, and advised against me trying to do so... Then they said they would not replace it under the DJI Care Refresh program, because I didn't recover it! They have given me a coupon worth a small reduction in the price of a new Mavic Pro (aircraft and battery only), and one month to buy it from their store. They will switch my DJI Care Refresh over to the new aircraft when I get it.

The Refresh Cover in the T&C's only provide Cover in the Country of Purchase. So if you go on Holiday to anywhere outside of the UK if it was bought in the UK the drone is not covered????

I have DJI care refresh and I got the gimbal error. I sent it back and they lost my drone for 6 weeks and tried to tell me I was pulling a scam like I sent them an empty box. Then they tried to charge me 190 for a repair! Not to mention my original drone had to be returned immediately after I purchased it because it arrived broken. So that’s 8 weeks of coverage I lost because they’re fucking idiots.

Don't bother with dji care. Ive lived in China for a number of years, they will find as many loop holes as possible to not pay out. Even if they do, there are a bunch of spare part outlets if you do your research. Much cheaper in the long run too. Stay informed.

Not really helpful for me to know if it's a good deal. Besides, it sounds too good to be true. If you know the mainland Chinese well enough, you'll know that they skilled at persuading you while having their little plan behind the door. (The people from my region which is close to China can speak this from experience haha. You should always doubt the perfect promises coming from their mouth just like their country leaders. I'm trying not to get political, but this is really how it goes in real life when you interact with them. Plus if you're a white-people dominated country, they wouldn't even give you such a great deal. The machine itself is a good enough deal for them to offer - they're not giving you more jetso if it doesnt benefit them much more.) They'll probably explain the policy or diagnosis differently so that they will lose as little money as possible. Share real experiences/ insider-info like how they really treat the process. This would be the real review that helps decisions.

Yes , you have to have a homeowners or renters insurance with state farm in order to add your personal property " drone insurance " . The cost is a flat 60 dollars for 1 year and it covers you if you wreck it or it gets stolen or loss of drone with no deductible. All they need is the original receipt of drones you will be covering. By the way the 60 dollars will cover upto 3000 dollars worth of drones:) Hope this helps you and all.....

S. Kingsbury ... Not so. State Farm in California will *not* cover your done, period. You cannot add it to your personal articles policy, or get the $60 drone coverage. They will not pay out if you make a claim for a drone under your homeowners policy.

It's a dillusion,my country {N.Z.} is not covered.We can't get any insurance down here apart from household insurance and only if it is stolen, so if you use your drone outside my insurance is not covered.DJI sells its products worldwide so all shipped to countries should have the care refresh option available, i spent over 4K on my p4p and DJI Goggles but i don't want to use them in case something goes wrong, it took me a long time to save for these purchases and very disappointed with DJI.

Yes it is as long as the drone SN number is the same attached to the refresh care,, through out for the first year only,,

Tom I say it again, one word you use a lot "Episodes", you should perhaps try to remember to pronounce it right cause it is a shame when you are doing so great with the English language. It is Episodes with "s" and not Epizodes with "z". I enjoy your videos, keep them coming. It is a constructive critic.

dabid S im thinking it was a calibration issue. I put it in sport mode, hit the throttle, all of the leds shut off & it dropped.

dabid S just make sure the multiple flight mode is enabled before take off. You should be good.

Please be advised that DJI Care Refresh is only available in the country or region where the DJI Care Refresh was purchased. At the moment, DJI Care Refresh is only available to customers from the U.S., Canada, EU countries, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Mainland China. We regret to inform you, however, DJI Care Malaysia is not yet available. We are working hard on that as DJI trying to expand its coverage to reach customers globally.
