Prop Guards on the DJI MINI 4 PRO ?!?

So I wanted to test to see how the 360 Propeller Guards would work on my DJI M4P. Check it out!!

I was kind of reluctant at first. But I was extremely impressed with the DJI MINI 4 Pro and how it performed with them on it. I can see a lot of different applications where I can use them. I did not test on a very windy day, but I will definitely do another test when I have a chance and when we have some good winds. Thanks for commenting and watching!

I bought a bough a year and half ago, it’s a pain fitting, however during strong wind One set of prop got damaged by rubbing at guards , be careful. 2ndly mini 4 pro detect prop fitted and obstacles avoidance sensors go off it self.

When I ordered my mini 4 pro, I got some guards. Have not tried them yet, but seeing your video, I might put them on and learn to fly my drone inside or shooting under trees canopies. Good vid bud.

since your only using them in a confined area (like a house) and moving pretty slow for your recordings... maybe you could strategically remove some of the guard braces to reduce the weight without losing too much strength of the cage? still accomplishes the goal cat 1, and gain a little more flight time.

Thanks for the demonstration, John. I need to order a set, as I have a request from a fellow classmate to fly my drone over our 60-year HS reunion picnic. So this way, I'll be legal and not have to worry about flying over people and injuring anyone if I happen to get too close. And yes, I'm sure they will be easier to put on the second time. I remember my frustration installing the prop guards on my Mavic Mini the first time. Good video, John.

Thank you sir! Yes I do like them alot. This is also why I wanted them is to fly over people. I also researched to see the weight of myDJI M4P with a plus battery and the prop guards. Drone DJI MINI 4 Pro - 171.67 grams Plus battery - 121 grams Scan Disk - 0.26 grams Prop guards - 42 grams each side with a total it 84 grams. 171.67 grams) + (121 grams) + (0.26 grams) + (84 grams) = 376.93 grams = 0.831 pound Take off weight - 376.93 With that said I believe I still have to get a wavier but the FAA wanted 90 days before event. But I just received an email from ALOFT to streamline the waiver process. I have not gone through this process yet or tested it. That’s something. One thing is not clear to me. They said that one of the features of this drone is that it has 360 degree protection from all sides. So why do we need the prop guard?

Rule of the FAA flying over people when you have a drone with exposed rotating parts. The Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Operations Over People rule, which went into effect on April 21, 2021, allows drone pilots to fly over people and moving vehicles under certain conditions. The rule's ability to fly over people depends on the level of risk the drone poses to people on the ground. The rule also allows night operations under certain conditions if pilots complete training or pass knowledge tests. Here are some of the requirements for flying a drone over people under the FAA's Operations Over People rule: Category 1 Drones can fly over groups of people outdoors if they weigh 0.55 pounds or less, including everything attached to the drone, and don't have exposed rotating parts that could cause lacerations. Category 1 drones must also be Remote ID compliant.

No, when you have the guards on optical avoidance automatically shuts off.

Another great idea for adding an obvious extra safety feature to the drone, rendered entirely not worth doing because it takes weight over 250g. See also 'Nav lights' ! They need to fix that law so that small additions over the limit that are evidently adding safety features are permitted. Of course they won't, but it seems like an obvious and sensible thing to do if drone laws are actually about safety, as they continue to claim.

Well DJI M4P with Plus battery and prop guard weight is at 250g. So when I learned that I was very happy. You still need a wavier and I was going to test that but they want you to do it in 90 days before event. I thought that was ridiculous so I will definitely have to test that waiver when I have an event that far out that I know. I feel once you have your 107 and your drone is registered like mine has always been and you list what it has and the current weight. I don’t understand once you’re in the system. Why can’t they just do the waiver like they do with ALOF. I did receive the following from ALOF and it looks very promising if you’re an enterprise. I skimmed over but I need to read it more in detail and test this waiver process. Even the the text on the DJI listing for the item warns it takes the M4P overweight, and we know plus batteries do too, so I don't know why you are thinking that any drone with both could possibly be only 250g !
