Bromelain, in case anyone is skittish, is just an enzyme in pineapple. You know that kind of prickly feeling you get in your mouth when you eat fresh pineapple? That's bromelain.
@charlottewarner2041 Жыл бұрын
No that prickly feeling you get is from not cleaning your pineapple properly. The "eyes" need to be cut out completely. If that's not your problem maybe your allergic.

I really love your videos. I’m lucky to live in an area where Dollar Tree Plus stores are plentiful. I’m single and my mom is widowed, we live very close to each other and each night we have dinner together. We trade off the cooking duties each night and on my nights I’ve been giving your meals a try. So far they’ve been a big hit with both of us. The fact that you are a regular person cooking for one or two people is also something I really appreciate. Than you so much for your content. 😊

I just found your channel the other day, and I'm loving it, already! I'm so used to seeing budget cooking videos on KZbin talking about "$2.00 meal!" "$0.45 fried chicken?!" and the like, but when I watch it, it has a list of about $80 worth of ingredients, three days of prep time, and two hours of continuous, active cooking. This is much more reasonable and achievable budget cooking (so long as you have a dollar store near you), and it took me so long to be able to figure that out! While, mathematically, the aforementioned gimmicky videos might be easier on the wallet, that doesn't change the fact that I'm trying to make these meals on my own, between work and school, while trying to still have a social life, and I eventually had to realize that my time is more valuable than the 50 cents I would save by making those meals on a regular basis. I absolutely love what this channel is putting across, thank you for the work you've put into making these videos that I'll be watching much more often from now on!

I used to buy the 3.5 oz "ribeye" Dollar Tree steaks for $1/$1.25 and make simple steak sandwiches with them; there was a local barbecue place that used to sell steak sandwiches many years ago, but they're now out of business, and these little steaks helped me to approximate the sandwiches of my memory. These newer steaks, at 5.5 ounces for $3, are definitely more substantial. I'm going to try making country fried steak out of them as you demonstrated! However, just a little warning: look at the package before you buy it, and do not choose the ones with a white strip down the middle. This usually turns out to be gristle, not fat, and simply will not chew. The salad shrimp aren't too bad of a deal, as I just saw them at Lidl today for $7.99 for 12 ounces.

I was born and raised in South Jersey steak/cheesesteaks were a staple. I got stationed in Blythville Ark in 76 and wwent to a local fast food place and ordered a steak sandwich what I got was not what I expected! A country fried steak with white sauce on a bun..no wionder the counter gal looked at me odd when I asked for cheese... frenched green beans are in my top fav veggies, I can eat them right out of the can but I like them with some dried onion and warm enough to melt butter, a splash of white vinegar and my taste buds are dancing with pleasure.. if you want to try a unique side, crush a bag of ranch/ghost pepper pootato chips, add water and heat for the craziest mash potatoes ever...I dont generally like whipped style mashed potatoes but these are a different level.. i shop Dt a lot for many of the same reasons, its usually in and out saving money though is a different story, yesterday I went for a piece of foam board and ended up spending $25!! I understand how/why people would get those shrimp but Im a seafood snob, I was raised on fresh seafood and her in Jax Fl I can get shrimp fresh off the boat or on the curb and sometimes even catch my own... your sandwich idea is the bomb.com though.. Ive been using the Aldi chipolata ranch dressing for a LOT of stuff so maybe some shrimp stuff in the near future... definitely more heat, buffalo sauce is only tabasco style red water and the mayo knoicks back a lot of what little heat there is, its a nice flavor but I even kick up the chipolata ranch with habanero or scorpion pepper powders.. The rice bowl also looked fantastic. I can count the number of times Ive had a salmon filet on one hand, we had salmon cakes or croquettes all the time but it was canned salmon and thats still my favorite way of eating salmon but there is something about fresh salmon roasted over a fire on a cedar shingle is pretty bomb and whole salmon done in a southern cold smoker is unbelievably tasty.. Im going to try that blackened salmon, maybe on a roll with chipolata ranch dressing and pickled habanero onions

This shrimp and rice dish could easily, with some adjustment, be reborn as a New Orleans BBQ shrimp risotto. Add some Worcestershire sauce, butter, maybe additional chicken stock. Keep stirring the rice and emulsify the butter into the sauce to make it creamier. And season your shrimp in the butter, Cajun and Worcestershire and give a quick roast in the oven before topping the risotto.
