Last year I flew by myself to lamezia terme. rented a car at the airport(automatic). I then drove 2 hours north to meet my grandmother. Loved every second of it and was never scared. I am 25 years old and also didn't buy the insurance;)

Good for you to drive the coast. I used to live in Italy and have driven Themis road around 20 times, twice with a 9 passenger van. It is a rush to accomplish it.

Yes, do not recommend driving in southern Italy! 😂 England was scary too, but at least the road signs were clear

When we were in Sicily we walked everywhere. I couldn't imagine driving. It was scary just watching them drive there. The Amalfi coast looked beautiful.

😂 yeah the southern Italians are crazy drivers! But not when compared to India 😂 I'm sure you could get used to it if you lived there.

Peter coped really well with the driving conditions! It's hard to turn down an Alfa, but a Fiat 500 might be better for tight roads :D

Yeah, he did great on these roads! We probably should've requested the smallest car possible! haha - oh well. We made it safe!

This driving had me all kinds of stressed! Lol. Peter was handling that traffic well. We are taking public transport on Amalfi but planning to drive in Sicily. Hopefully it's a lot easier. Thanks for sharing!

Wow--I drive the California freeways every day and want to rent a car in Rome and drive down to Paestum then Naples then up to Florence. In August. I had already planned to skip the tight windy road and take the more main road, but wow. This is making me rethink EVERYTHING!!!

Yeah anything South of Rome down to the Almalfi coast is a bit crazy! Naples would be the worst in rush hours! Very nuts there - lots of honking! If you have someone else to help you navigate it would be better. It can be done, just maybe not all that relaxing. We found the trains in Italy the most affordable (and least stressful) way to get around 😁 enjoy your trip! Italy is great! We REALLY loved Florence - also check out our video of Cinque Terre - maybe do that instead of Naples!

Nope I'm not driving when we go there. I will take rail, bus, taxi, boat...but no car. I will save my driving foe Germany. LOL Man, I thought driving in NYC sucked. Yikes.
