Hi Tanay Want to add one more important point - computation is expensive and cloud computation is even more expensive. So an optimal code can save anywhere from thousands to millions of dollars, esplly for big tech who run on such a scale. Hence, DSA is very relevant from that POV as well.

Thanks a lot Tanay. I am a 32 years old guy working in a Big 4 and wanted to move into full-stack web development. Although I have a fair understanding of front-end development, however, my skills and confidence were not high since the tech world is changing rapidly and I am still working on the same project in my organization that doesn't give me more exposure. I regularly watch your video, and trust me, you have changed my view and because of you I am able to prepare my career roadmap. However, I still had a lot of confusion regarding DSA even though I had watched all those videos where you have mentioned if it's required or not. Just before watching your video, another young influencer was talking about the importance of DSA. By God's grace, suddenly your video came after that and now my outlook has been changed. You have mentioned everything, which nobody has done yet. At least, I have never seen someone is guiding like this in my entire career (before and after engineering). You are probably right, but in my understanding, DSA is required. At least, you should know how it's implemented behind the scenes and where you can use it to solve problems. I don't say you need a 5-star rating on competitive coding platforms, but at least you should build logic and think about how to efficiently solve problems using DSA. Because if you don't know DSA, you probably won't use the right tools like Redis Queue, etc., to implement and solve such problems. Lastly, I only say there are lots of reasons to move away from learning DSA because the learning curve is difficult, but it's required. One thing I can't understand is why people try to find reasons not to do things. Computer science subjects themselves have problem-solving efficiency. Sorry to say, but if you are a person who always moves away from problems, then CS might not be for you. DSA is not an extraordinary thing; it's part of CS. To be an engineer, you should need this; otherwise, you are just a machine like ChatGPT because nowadays, it also understands the requirements and matches the best possible answer and writes the code. Lastly, I only say development is important; I don't say you should only focus on DSA. But if you want to build slightly larger scale systems, it's required. In the early days of computers, processing power might have been slow, but nowadays, processing power increases, and sometimes the user base also increases. Nowadays, I think in India, 50 crore users use the internet, so it's necessary that our system is well-optimized so business fulfill user requirements at the lowest cost. Only things are reversed, but optimization is also required. 24:37

BTW about Bill Gates story, there was a show on History TV 18 about these greats, their was an episode about Gates V/S Jobs, Bill didn't actually CREATED Microsoft, ha had to provide an OS to the Company named Xerox... Bill bought Microsoft from a guy at Seattle Computer Products for around 35-50k USD and sold it to Xerox along with 2% royalty for each computer sold with MS. BTW the guy who sold the MS to Bill is now kinda broke and is living in the wood in a basic Camer in California I guess...
