I recently had to convince a friend that there is no difference between Dshot1200 and 600 because he hesitated to upgrade to Betaflight 4.2 (on a new copter) because it had no Dshot1200 (whatever version his FC shipped with still had Dshot1200). Thank you for making this video

Thats enthusiastic developers for you. I once spent 3 months when I was 25 optimizing a function in an app I developed just because the code looked ugly and I knew I could make it run better. :) As one start to run of time every day one learns to look at the expected result, swallow the pride and be ok with "good enough" as long as it works as expected.

Nice practical video Pawel! Thanks for sharing :) It would be a little tricky to test consistently, but would be interested to see if there is much of a difference in flight time + motor temps.

Great video. I have a Matek F722std. I was running Dshot600 and had weird oscillations. Changed to Dshot300 and the oscillations went away, it flys great! Maybe I just needed to tune it better? I don’t know.

Do you think it could be the same thing with PID loop speeds? I've always wondered about the loop speeds verses actual physics, even if the quad flips at 2000* per second the cpu still has like four cycles per single degree of movement if you run at 8k. Unless I'm wrong about looptimes, which could be the case lol

Pretty interesting testing, Pawel! Great comparison! 😃 What about with airplanes? Is there still a problem with DSHOT? What do you recommend using? Thanks! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I think you should team up with a "pro" pilot or two and hand them quads to blind test. Loop time and ESC protocol changes woiuld be interesting to know if tyhey can tell the difference.

One word: "Duh!" Seriously, thanks for the analysis. I remember all the excitement about DSHOT when it was first being developed and the speculation about how fast it could go, just wondering why? Of course, the bi-direction digital protocols that are coming out now are much more exciting, and, I think can have much more of an impact on performance... assuming there's enough bandwidth to get sufficient telemetry back in time for the FC to have time to do anything with it, while it's waiting for 10 million bits of redundant information being sent to the ECS, just because...

I can't tell which PWM protocol is best, whether Dshot does it better. Two things I can say without a doubt. 1 Your flying is fabulous, greatly improved over the last 2 years. 2 that cowboy hat fits you nicely too.

Oh dear, this is going to upset some Beta Flight Fanboys...probably the same ones who bang on about latency constantly.
@CesiumSalami4 жыл бұрын
I think you have completely the wrong fanboys ... BF eliminated DSHOT1200 and PROSHOT and encourages DSHOT300 for many build configurations as they don't feel the gains from higher rates are worth the (possible) troubles. FL1, Emuflight, Butterflight, Helio those are the groups that would encourage PROSHOT/DSHOT1200/DSHOT2400 OR 4800, or just Multishot instead of DSHOT600. Or KISS at DSHOT2400.

imagine if he would have forget to save the changes he made and was flying all the time with dshot 600 :-D

Question, so I have a 10 inch muscle quad running APD 120A ESC’s and radix pdb and radix FC. For some reason I find that proshot 1000 runs like crap compared to Dshot600 even though technically proshot should be better. Think this has something to do with my FC not being an F7 and rather it being an F4?
