Buying heroes: You get medals every map you play, and pressing "J" you can see quests which also give you medals. Only the 1st buy of a hero is that price, subsequent copies are about 1 fifth of that price. Shards: you get shards by playing maps, the difficulty is divided by tiers ans the shards you will get will be dependent on what difficulty you play. Shards either give you more atk power or gimmick features (more aoe, more rsnge, different attribute damage, etc). Yes, you can buy shards with diamonds or medals, but it's not necessary. Battle Pass: They added it about 2 or 3 moths ago, it's not monthly and from what I've seen it is really good for getting extra materials and gold, which you can get by grinding the game, though it has some exclusive cosmetics. Difficulty: only campaign has easy and hard difficulty, the rest of the game's difficulty will be determined by the chaos tier you play (from 1 to 10), or also by floor you play (Onslaught which has 999 floors with random modifiers and enemy variety). Survival: You can earn Godly gear by doing it. And there are some unique cosmetics for doing a certain amount of survival waves. Swapping heroes: Your tower stats don't change when you swap to another hero (with the exception of mystic, which is my favorite hero), you can have 4 heroes in your deck and swap into them at any time. Lobby/Session: The game us entirely server based, so load times sometimes are doodoo, when you play privately it is a session/lobby so only you or your oarty members can hoin it. When you play a public map anyone can join, up to 4 players. Will add more later maybe, ar you xan ask anything you want to know :)

Ive spent thousands of hours in Dungeon Defenders 2 and all i gotta say is when you start playing and progressing in the game all the micro transactions dont mean anything. And if you do buy into them you arent guaranteed to be better. Just about everything, you need to be the best in dd2 youll get by playing and progressing through the game.

Is 100% solo a viable way to play the game?
@Emris22310 ай бұрын
I think the hero pack is pretty great because it unlocks all heros and all future heros as well as gives you hero cards for them! Also defender packs are strictly cosmetic only no actual gear drops. The only real pay to win is paying for shards and materials to upgrade gear. And the battle pass is a one time purchase if you end up grinding it since it gives you the cost back

While it was a microtransaction hell, I played this game when it came out a while ago. Naturally a huge fan of the original, I actually thought that it was really good! Despite putting around 100 hours into it if I had to guess, maybe more, I dont really remember much of it. I remember I stopped playing because they overhauled the game and it felt super different, but now might be the time to go back and give it another shot. It is most certainly inferior to its predecessor, but the style is great and it is quite unique in comparison. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed listening to your thoughts about the game.

I touched DD1 (when i say touched i meam like an hour to 3 hours of gameplay) years ago a group of friends were playing. It was fun, everytime Id gotten the chance to play dd2 i was solo and didnt feel like trying for online socializing at the time. Years have passed and I too am giving the game a go. That said i admit i bought one champion to at least have a main of my choice at my disposal.

I've been playing since DD2 released and I've spent about $200 in total. You can earn most of the things that can be bought with real money through normal gameplay. My only gripe would be buying inventory space. It's hard for new players to manage all their loot with only a few pages to work with. The current state of DD2 is the best it's been so far.
@h1nutty10910 ай бұрын
Dungeon defenders is different from Dungeon defenders 2, while Dungeon defenders is mostly based on pure stats and just getting better gear to increase their stats but Dungeon defenders 2 uses different factors like shards and mods which in my opinion is good since it makes every hero more unique and has more advanced builds. If you were to spend money on dd2 you'll want to buy inventory space and vault space you can earn more inventory and vault space to a certain point but you'll want more and you'll also want to buy the all heros pack if you're gonna spend money on heros since it's like a 90 percent discount but heros can be earned through grinding the game aswell. Shards can be criticized as micro transactions but they can be earned in game through pure farming. I've only spent money on inventory space in dd2 and I've made it to late game with crazy builds.

There's no P2W in this game and that says a person who hates p2w systems in games with her whole heart. The packs in the shop can randomly give you some smaller or bigger cosmetic items, randomly. You can get packs from daily login (talk to the guy named Ol Peepers - short bald guy with goggle eyes - every 24 hours) and onslaught (rare drop). The shards in the shop - you literally get hundreds of them later on and you can also buy specific ones with medals. You get medals from every map, around 25 per map. + daily missions and weekly mission. I think the only thing that MAY be a little p2w (or more like pay to progress) is bag system. You need more of them to be comfortable with inventory managment, BUT you get some gems from main quest line and that should be enough for one or two. But let's be honest, we can't really call it a p2w feature. Otherwise Path of Exile should be called that too haha. I'm highly dissapointed that you haven't checked other main heroes...

I tried playing dungeon defenders 2. I had fun, booted it up the next day and it was broken. Missing files of some sort. Tried having steam do a file integrity verification, that didn’t help. Uninstalled it, few days later I reinstalled it and it worked. I’d come to the conclusion that it might’ve been crashing because I’d set it to be in fullscreen, since it would crash when loading after the intro cutscene. I put it into windowed mode and play a bit more, have fun. Next day the same error is popping up, I uninstall it and haven’t reinstalled it since. Because I’d probably have to uninstall and reinstall it each damn day. Looked online for answers, nothing directly related but a possibly unrelated issue has an answer from sometime in the late 2010s or so, saying that it’s because the game is generating incomplete Unreal Development Kit files that I’d need to manually scrub each time I want to play. Less overall hassle, but I haven’t checked if this would work anyway. Help?
@antonberkbigler57594 ай бұрын
Just reinstalled it after the update, now it just crashes immediately after the intro cutscene without giving me a day’s grace to play it. The crash handler says that certain lines of code that DD2 requires in both system32 files and even game files (which it should be installing, since these ones are supposedly indexed within the steam specific file tree) aren’t there, and some of the actual files it wants code from aren’t there entirely (others are though). Idk what to do… actually, I’m going to try and swap my Nvidia drivers for the other ones they offer me (they offer both game-focused and creator-focused graphics drivers, I forgot which I have installed but I have had issues with the game driver being unable to run some indie games before).
@antonberkbigler57594 ай бұрын
It worked! It still might crash tomorrow though, but for now it worked fine!

Just a resposne to your earlier comments and earlier part of the video, Yes. The game has a pay to play aspect, not generally pay to win, but you can pay for some features to either speed up progress or have more of a relaxed playthrough, however everything in the game, you can get from just grinding or playing :), with daily quest and weeklys, 1'st - you can get a new character in 2-weeks of playing maybe 30 mins a day to get quests done 2'nd - all cosmetics in the game that you DONT get from quests, you can get from "defenders packs" which are cosmetic only chest 3'rd - the ONLY payblock that i see in this game, is inventory space, after your 100'th hour, with wanting to progress more into the game, you'll NEED (yes, need) more bags, which are only purchasable (except the free bag and vault you get from story quest) with real money/gems, i am very avid of free to play, i dont like buying or playing a game, then needing to spend to play it, but honestly i love dd2 so much ive only purchased 1 DLC in steam which was 50% off because of a deal they held, only paying about 7.50$ for a extra bag, extra vault, and 2k Gems, then i bought a material vault, and i havent had storage issues at all since i got that and i feel im comfortable to play completely with just that 7.50 being spent although its arguable you shouldnt have to pay anything to enjoy a FREE game, but the game is FREE, and the developers who spent time on time and hours upon hours spending their own money and resources, to make the game, so i dont mind spending a bit to support the creators of a game ive been loving so much recently. but yeah, thats just my thoughts on dd2 pay aspect , i will say tho pat. you wont get the same feeling you got from dd1 playing dd2. dd2 is MOSTLY grinding, and not that fun strategizing and challenging aspect you got from dd1, besides the feature in dd2 known as "incursions" which provide some fun and challenge. hope you check it out a bit more pat! but the content will get mostly repitive in this game after you get through all chaos level's. goodluck and only play if youre having fun, dont feel pressured by your audience :)

ive tried to get into dd2, and it just isnt for me, i much much much prefer dd1, however i will say dda is definitely worth a shot, as it is much more like dd1, but it’s definitely significantly worse than dd1, and doesnt offer as much content, but its worth the money for a solid couple hundred hours AT LEAST Edit: i REALLY wanna like this game, really i do, and i might give it one last shot, if i find a good guide to help me progress (this game is even more confusing for new players than dd1 is imo) and get all the heroes and bags on sale, i just might consider it, because i love the dungeon defenders franchise as a whole and would love to experience a different kind of dungeon defenders experience than dd1 Edit 2: i should also mention that while dda is more like dd1, it has a LOT of similarities to dd2, mostly with QoL features, and on top of all of that, its also its own thing, it has its own original features that seperate it from both games entirely

I can’t believe people say this game isn’t pay to win, I don’t think the community understands what that even means Paying to save time is just as bad I started playing because my friends played it, sink maybe a hundred hours into it Decided to give the first game a try WOW They somehow downgraded in the second game It seems like they wanted to change and add as much new stuff as they could because it’s the second variant of the game but they decided not to keep anything that made the first game great My friends never played the first one because the logic they had is that the second one must be better, I convinced them to give it a shot We don’t play the second one anymore lol and they had way more time invested than I did Even they realised that a lot of the currency differences they added in the second game was purely just to make money on where the first game it’s just the one currency The first game has no trace of pay to win or save time You have to grind just like everyone else If you don’t want to grind you have to buy gear sets specifically from players but even that requires you to grind rare enough items to sell yourself to make the asking price for what you want There’s a reason the original still gets updates for free like the two new maps and sets of gear and pets we got a month ago It has half the player base for the second game and I guarantee some of those people have never even tried the first game That’s unheard of for a game

Not all games are for everyone nor does anyone think that they should be BUT to see someone criticize a game with tons of false claims is sad as someone that is making videos on these games and furthermore for a game as old as this one doing some simple research before hand would of been a smart decision

I understand where ur coming from, but the point of videos like this is meant to be a genuine FIRST impressions, Experts of the game will always be frustrated by stuff like this because its inherently shallow and missing details and end game. I try my best to qualify but i understand your frustrations. This video is meant to show the average players FIRST impressions when playing a game which are HUGELY important whether they are correct or not, its the games responsibility to portray a positive product as much as possible. When 60% of people drop a game within the first hour, i think stuff like this is important and honest. But once again, is going to be infuriating to watch for genuine fans and experts in the game, and for that i do apologize.

Maybe there was an open or closed beta? Even then i cant find anything regarding that online. Any sources would be appreciated :)

Maybe im the only one who thinks this but it was a bit sad to watch this video and see you look at something and give it this negative this looks like a mobile game. Feel like most the video was just that if you spent more time playing the game you would of seen that none of that stuff being able to be bought with gems matter as everything you can buy with gems you can get by just playing and having fun in the game but bags. Shard are technically pay to win but theres no point just grinding the game gives you shards sure you have to get good rng or buy them with medals if you get unlucky but you will aways get them with enough grinding someone buying them with gems is just plan dumb you take away the grind and fun of the game, and for most if not all of the game you dont need gilded shards to clear the maps. If you just played the game instead of calling everything a modile game system you would seen gems matter for nothing but buying bags the base 4 heroes can clear everything in the game

(English is not my main laguage, so if I wrote someting wrong im sorry) As some one with thousands of hours into DD 1 while growing up, I tried DD2. And I really....really tried to like the game ...but, for me they changed stuff they didn't had to. Art desing makes it look like a different game, when you open the game its a "monumet" of bad inpressions/ red flags. Let's take a look at the monumet. N°1 you open the game and feels WAY too different. N°2 you take a look at the chraracters, and insted of the 4 originals, you see like 15 characters and to get them you have to 🤑. (I know you can farm them, but in free to play games you have to farm like 20 to 50 hours to get a character) N°3 it feels made with less love compared to DD1, in this game when you finish a wave there is no music and the content insted of been something cool now its like filler util some one gets baited and purchase an "offer" I remember the content and loot system in DD1 been like diablo 2 and it was "friking" awesome and adicting. N°4 while you are playing you don't feel like its worth your time grinding, after playing for hours and hours, you ask your self the cuestion, am I really having fun? Or am I just maxing my character. N°5 There are SOME games with good battle passes like fortnite that gives you like 5 skins for like 10 dlrs US and gives you back your invesment, but it is a red flag in any other game that is not fortnite.(maybe this one is good, but I haven seen it, and it is still a red flag if the game isn't fortnite ) N°6 The balance. I think all of the squire mains like me opened DD2 for the first time, tried the new squire and were like "what have they done to my boy". (To be honest I think the hunter and monk are cooler now but in my experience they did dirty to the mage and squire. (I havent tried the newer characters 'cus I was like "yeah ... Im not farming you" and unistalled the game) Maybe for some one new to the frenchise that didn't get their heands on DD1 do like DD2 and I can respect that, but DD2 is just not fun for me, and when I try to like it, theres all this problems that I comented before. And some of this problems can get fix but as a company they have to put all their time into more stuff to make money. Its just sad at this point. (Thanks if got all the way here) Edit: I forgot to tell that this Game seems to have less replayability compared to DD1.
