When it comes to comparing Edge’s career to Christian’s, it goes to show that it doesn’t matter how good you are, Vince just needs to like you and if you can live up to his expectations then you’re set.... Christian was just as, if not more charismatic than Edge and probably better in ring, only difference... Edge was taller... Vince ALWAYS loved Edge and pictured him being the star out of the two due to the fact that he was taller. Never really envisioning much for Christian despite his ability and charisma. Never giving him many opportunities, whereas Vince gave Edge tons of opportunity even though he kept getting injured from 2002-2004, always wanting him to become a top star. It’s also been documented that Vince thought Christian looked like a rat...🤦♂️so it didn’t matter how good he was he wasn’t going to be pushed as a true maineventer. Eventually he got fed up and left, proving he could main event when he went to TNA. Later on he was only World Champ in WWE bc Edge retired and it fit storyline-wise. His two reigns where also extremely short lived, meaning Vince still didn’t see him carrying the brand despite winning the title. Similar parallels can be drawn from Christian’s career with Chris Jericho’s career. Both lacked Vince’s support. Y2J was the biggest baby face behind Rock and Austin in the early 2000’s, they never capitalised on it and he never won the World title as a face in his career. (Also choosing Goldberg to beat Owens for the title in 2016, instead of a face Y2J which everyone wanted and made way more sense) Vince just never saw Jericho as a top star despite his overwhelming popularity. He was never pushed like one either despite being the first undisputed champion in 2001 after a heel turn- which was a transitional title reign, playing third wheel to the Stephanie Triple H storyline. He then wasn’t ever really pushed again as maineventer until 2008 when he reinvented himself. If you think about it from 2008-10 was the only time Vince saw and used him as a top star rather than an upper mid career. All 6 of his World Title reigns were really short lived and he was never given the opportunity and backing to carry the company/brand. Annnnnd despite all this he still managed to carve out one of the greatest/most entertaining careers of all time. Imagine how much better Christian’s and Jericho’s careers could’ve been if they were actually used and pushed to the heights of Edge (who was given 9 world title reigns in 3 years from 2006-09) or the likes of Cena or Triple H.

Whenever someone bitches about some wrestler not getting the push they deserve, I find it kinda dumb. ANY wrestler can make it with the push. People booed Reigns for like, 2 years? The push stuck. And sometimes, the push isn't enough. Everyone assumes these guys would have shot to the stratosphere had they been given the push... say, remember Dolph Ziggler's push? Jack Swagger's Push? Ultimately the fans will decide. If we gave belts to everyone the internet decided was worthy, Chavo would be the next champion before passing it on to the newly out of retirement Brutus Beefcake.

For me i really started taking notice of Edge as a singles guy in 2002 as he was rapidly rising up the midcard with fueds with Angle, Eddie, and Jericho but lacked that intensity needed to finally jump to main eventer. In 2005 it finally clicked I think thanks to his fued with Matt Hardy and the real life drama that came with that showing him to be this opportunist heel, then winning MitB and going on to cash it in at a time no one saw coming and cementing that gimmick. The crazy thing is though he got even better once he was in the main event with fueds against Cena, Taker, and Foley all being top tier stuff. He was always good on the mic, and in the ring, and now seeing him come back in 2020 and being able to perform at the level he did in the rumble is frankly amazing (at least compared to the vast majority of part timers who cant go more than 5 minutes without sucking wind like their last name is Hoover)

Edge is about to give Roman his greatest Rivalry as a Face to finally get Roman over as a Heel to the point where even the biggest Roman haters can finally let go of their dislike of his character.

You can add to the list of big things he has done losing his title in the first elimination chamber match of the night only to win it back in the last. Regardless of the gimmick of match, Edge has a candidate for best in nearly all of them. It's like he's trying to complete the set, watch for him around wargames time to teach them youngens how to use tables ladders and chairs.

Edge is so good that I didn’t realize how good he actually was till he left I hated edge but when he retired I felt it when he came back I lost it after going back and watching old Edge and watching now Edge in my opinion is a top heel and performer of all time

I didn’t know this was ever a question. Hard to find a guy as good in the ring and as passionate about the business as Edge (for his time at least) feel like nowadays we’ve been spoiled by the abundance of childhood fans turned phenomenal performers (Daniel Bryan, Ricochet, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins etc.)

I know that's the point but on the science part when Luke asked what was it if not science, I legitimately said "Math?" out loud

I miss this series! Hey Luke, are invasion angles (WCW 2001, Aces And Eights, Nexus, etc) actually good?

Edge is my favorite wrestler of all-time. He made me switch channels from WCW in 1998 when his "tortured soul" gimmick was so cool to me. He kept me watching wrestling after WCW went out of business in 2001 (WCW for Life!!!). I literally cried like a baby when he gave his HOF speech. And as a lifelong hardcore WCW guy (I still BLEED for them), seeing Edge mainly hold the WCW title in his WWE career always puts a smile on my face. Oh and, he was the final holder of the greatest belt in wrestling history (1990's WCW United States Title). And yet, I did not mark out when he came back at the Royal Rumble last year. Kobe died that day, and I was so numb from that.....

I think Edge is by far one of the greatest of all time, and easily in the top 5 greatest heel wrestlers of all time. He's definitely one of my all time favorites. That's for sure.

Literally my only gripe with edge is his finisher, and why is it not the edgecution? Really hope this match with Roman isn’t billed around spear vs spear, when Romans is clearly better
@mdrglxix36993 жыл бұрын
I disagree with the notion that he was never the guy, when he became a main eventer, he was the heel guy, you don't get 10 world title runs without being the guy
@CornerstoneArts223 жыл бұрын
The guy is never a heel unless they’re name is HHH. Big as Edge was, Cena was the guy by a mile
@Marquesjones53 жыл бұрын
In the words of Y2J, theres only ever been 4 guys. Hogan, Austin, Rock, and Cena. As great as Edge was nobody would ever mistake him as a "the guy" level draw
@Jimbo_Ka-Blamo3 жыл бұрын
@@Marquesjones5 Agreed just add Roman to that list. Edge was never THE guy overall but was trusted to lead the second brand along with Taker. He was however seen by Vince to be a top star and given opportunities that others weren’t (9 world titles from 2006-2009), similarly to Orton. Edge had the FULL backing of Vince to repeatedly be and stay champion that guys like Jeff Hardy, Christian and (when you really think about it) Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan and Punk never fully had. Despite being around the same level if not better than Edge.
