Is Epic Mickey 2 Rebrushed or Epic Mickey 3 Possible?

I absolutely agree about Epic Mickey 2. There is no way you could remake that game unless you make an entirely different story and gameplay mechanics. Also, unlike Epic Mickey 1 which was only on Wii, Epic Mickey 2 can be purchased on Steam and is backwards compatible with most consoles so if players really want to play Epic Mickey 2, they have options.

I think remastering EM2 would be a good idea, it seems like the team was rushed to finish it and so there are a few glitches and such. Like Oswald's junky AI, and a few sidequests that could have been better fixed, also seeing the concept art and the beta level designs it seemed like there was SO much cut out due to time. EM3? I would LOVE that!

I think that the EM3 plot could be the Petes being the main antagonists, each of them having their own boss. While this, a sort of OsBlot like blot is created and, at the end, gets into the cartoon world, and have Mickey save the cartoon world So for example, Pete Pan would have his own boss in Venture land, you get the idea. But the OsBlot summons blotlings a lot and tries to stop Mickey from succeeding. Then the OsBlot escapes Wasteland and enters the Cartoon World, so Mickey has to save the Cartoon world from OsBlot. In the end, it’s like EM2, but you can adventure either in Wasteland or the Cartoon World, and you can switch settings whenever. Paint Path: Oswald is saved and reunites with Wasteland Thinner Path: Oswald is defeated and turned inert forever, making Ortensia the new leader of Wasteland. If we even ever get EM3, hopefully it follows this plot! Maybe with a few tweaks, but I think it’s perfect for a triquel!

I don't really think em2 was that bad. Sure, it's more janky in some places and not the same as the first game. The fact that the story is predictable does not bother me, it really just gets overly obvious when you get to Prescott, but in my opinion it doesn't ruin things for the developement since its pretty close to the end of the game. I at least feel like the extra personality the characters gained with the voice acting really gives things a nice touch, after all it's a disney game and even if it's not as dark as it's predecessor there is still some really good areas dark fiction-wise I understand how people may be bothered by the fact that its less dark, and loses some things that the first game had, but the video said it, em2 was rushed. A remake could bring back everything that couldnt be put in the game on time, revamp areas, give access to all the places that you lose access to from the first game, the replayability of bossfights and generally just let it be what disney didn't allow it to be. The Oswald situation was never really a problem for me because i always used 2 player mode, but im sure that even for people who just use the ai there could be ways to make it less boring, because to be honest Oswald doesn't even do "half" the work, he mostly assists you whenever you have to open a door or get something from high up. Also if you play with two real players a remake could have a bunch of potential to play into that, competitive modes, minigames and such. The og em2 coop wasnt even that bad. They could make it so that Oswald had a more meaningful presence when its 2 people playing and not so much when its just the ai. Yall say what you want but the mad doctor songs are goated, its not like the cutscenes of the first game didnt have a silly vibe to them, its kinda the point of mixing disney magic with dark fantasy. And the Petes being the next bosses to me isn't objectively bad, some people might feel like its lame but personally i believe it has good potential if done right. Em2 doesnt need to change entirely, it just needs to be allowed to be what disney didn't allow for. Many of the things it fails at could be just expanded upon a little more, polished a little more and it could be perfect. The story could be kept the same and the maps could just be expanded, maybe even rearranged a little in order to make the gameplay better. To sum it up, i think em2 isn't as irredeemable as people make it out to be, coop has great potential, areas have a lot of room to make a better fun experience, cutscenes and music have a lot of personality to them and even if it was flawed originally it was a good experience. I know the video said that too, but I did feel like i had to defend it in some other points.

I love the idea of the Pete’s being the next villain and it taking place in the cartoon world supposedly. It builds onto that universe and gives us more insight about the characters. That’s exactly how I felt about them using Prescott and the Mad Doc. There’s no need to introduce new characters when there’s already a surplus of them in Wasteland with their own stories to tell. People will find a way to complain abt a sequel in any way they can if it’s not an exact copy of its predecessor. But even if it is a copy they’ll still complain that it’s unoriginal. U just can’t win

I feel like the best idea for an epic Mickey 3 plot would be to focus on more forgotten aspects and characters of the Disney franchise, for example the Horned King from the black caldron could be a great antagonist

There's concept art of them going to other movie worlds, like Kingdom Hearts. Minnie is part of the gang and they battling the rhino's in Robin Hood, riding atop the animals in Jungle Book and also one of Timon and Pumbaa with robotic parts.

I feel like the best move would be to do a soft reboot of the series (maybe focusing on a different character) instead of EM2R. I imagine an “Epic Oswald,” a continuation of the first game that retcons the second, but still revisits and remixes worlds/concepts from EM2. That way, we get the best parts of EM2 AND a new game in the series.

As much as I would love for Purple Lamp to redo Epic Mickey 2,there are two big reasons that slightly concern me. 1. Purple Lamp had to ASK Disney to do the first game. Disney isn’t particularly concerned with gaming nowadays since it barely gives them anything substantial. While the game seems to be doing well, and critics are enjoying it. Disney probably is really uncaring towards it. And yes I know they said that if the first games remake does well they would ask Disney to do the second game but that leads me to my next point 2. Epic Mickey 2 requires kinda a lot more work to fix the issues. With the first game, improve the camera and make Mickey feel a bit better and it’s pretty much golden. But with the second game there’s more to fix, while many people have talked about having the story be rewritten I don’t think many people realize that, doing that entails needing to fully reanimate EVERY cutscene. Since trying to take the uncompressed cutscenes from the original won’t work. And due to how unique the style of the cutscenes are, it makes it quite difficult to just replicate it. They would either have to redo all the cutscenes in a sytle similar enough to the original, try to find the original artists to redo the style or just completely due away with that painted style for the cutscenes and have it all be in real time. Thats not even mentioning the need to bring in the voice actors to redub all the lines. Plus they would have to fix a lot of the smaller things as well like Oswald’s AI, which probably wouldnt take too long. But the story is the most well known problem with Epic Mickey 2, and it’s not as easy of a problem to fix as many people make it out to be. As if the rewrite happens, that then changes the gameplay as well as level order will have to be adjusted/changed, or the reasons for going to levels will need to change since the original reason for going there is no longer a valid one.

Kinda late to this video, I haven't seen anyone comment about this, but I think adding a swap mechanic to epic mickey 2 would 1 completely fix any issues with the ai potentially sucking (of course I think they'd fix the ai on top of that), and 2 add a fresh incentive to play the game. Theres a lot of ways to fix games even when it doesn't seem like it, that and the environments getting a makeover to be a lot darker would be enough to sell me on the game. Obviously the story is the big one, idrk about that one bc I'm not a story writer. But regardless love the video and I hope the future if epic mickey is bright :)

Good Video! I am with you on this. I think if they really want to and there are enough people, sure remake it or so, but I don't see this happen aswell. In my opinion, if they touch Epic Mickey2, they should preffer doing Bug fixes and giving Oswald a little better A.I. Would be enough for me, we got the second game on all consoles and it is nice to have. I liked the second one aswell, but the first still feels better for me. Maybe they can start with an Epic Mickey 3 mor like Epic Oswald! So you can play only him and look what happened after Epic Mickey 2.. they could also go for Epic Donald since all I have heard about it was amazing! But so or so.. we got Epic Mickey back and I am more than happy about it. I also hope more people see the game and want to try it out-

As much as it’s better for em2 to not get a remake, people keep acting like the story is absolutely unsalvageable, sure it’s a bit boring, but I think it can actually help the story bye it just simply being filler, how I see em as a whole is that the first game is the events that happend and fixing it, em2 being that where they try to repair back there lives and go back to normal, and possibly the 3 game is trying to go to terms with what happend and healing from that, the Pete’s don’t even need to be the main bad guys, they could be just working for possibly the actual main villain, please warren don’t recon em2 :(

If THQ Nordic & Purple Lamp studios are allowed to do another Epic Mickey project after Rebrushed does well. It will likely be a new game if the way that they have handled Spongebob games under that umbrella is to go by anything. I doubt they wanna remake a rough around-the-edges game like Epic Mickey 2 the same way that people were hoping that Purple Lamp was gonna remake more Spongebob games that weren’t as good as BFBB (Movie games included) and they just jumped the opportunity to make a new game instead, which was a smart move as Cosmic Shake is probably the 2nd best Spongebob or even the best one if you wanna get spicy

Idea I have for epic mickey 3 while ik Pete's were the intended big bads for the 3rd game I think they can still have them be that just as a first boss but this time we face a new enemy a blotworks mickey this mickey was made by the mad doctor but during em2 but was never used so this mickey clone took parts from all mechanical boss fights and now it's cocktower plus mechanical dragon plus captain hook plus mad doctor mech all in one having Mickey and Oswald working together to face this new enemy that has the powers of both ink and thinner plus a artificial pure heart

I don’t think the story for Epic Mickey 2 was bad. I think that using characters that already existed in the universe was a great was to expand on the world. Some of y’all think you’re too “mature” for this game and use the story as a scapegoat. I can understand being frustrated by the mechanics since that’s a pretty important part of a video game, but acting like a children’s game isn’t good because the villain is “predictable” like all the sudden y’all are some professional critics with exquisite taste?? But how many times has Bowser been the villain of a Mario game and y’all never say it’s predictable? And I’ve heard some of u guys try to say it would b better if they brought the blot back or something like that as if that’s not tacky or predictable at all 🤦‍♂️ I think had this game not been rushed in development they should’ve taken more time to explain the characters’ thoughts and motives. Like maybe explain why Oswald was so easy to trust the Mad Doc (my theory is he has daddy issues and was desperate for a fatherly figure). And they should’ve shown more of the Mad Doctor’s villain side to explain his mindset to the audience to show us how he was literally dying and instead of going out in peace he was willing to destroy everyone and everything. That would’ve added to the creepiness. But then again, this was a rushed children’s video game so they couldn’t go into too much depth about the characters. Which is why I think it (the franchise) would’ve made a better movie but that’s another conversation. And for y’all that hate the game because it’s a musical I got news for u… u prob wouldn’t like 90% of what Disney does. I find this game very charming with all its quirks and I rlly think that most of its disdain comes from frustration that it’s not an exact rip of the first game
