It's not dead. I have just begun making enough money to pay my rent through Etsy printable wall art alone, and I'm not stopping. But this was a long time in the making. You have to be willing to experiment and find something that will make you unique in the market. Otherwise, maybe it's not for you. It's not a get-rich-quick thing that people want it to be.

I think my problem is, I can create stuff but I am just not good at listing and marketing. I means I got a 54 inch printer, heat press and a laser cutter but sales have been terrible for me.

You possibly still can do well on Etsy but it really depends on the niche. Stay away from digital sublimation designs, especially for tumblers, because once Etsy opened it up to China based sellers, almost half of the listings I see are copyright infringements, trademark violations and outright IP theft. A few minutes ago I saw a seller with at least 2 shops with slightly different names selling large bundles of tumbler sublimation designs, one exclusively with Disney Stitch designs and another with another Disney character. Some are selling huge bundles, one is selling 175,000 designs. Do you really think that person created or owns 175,000 tumbler designs? Many of these sellers are overseas and can't be effectively dealt with and Etsy just doesn't care anymore. I had a tumbler sublimation design store. I closed it and will never sell on Etsy again. If you sell digital designs, be aware, sooner or later, if they are any good, they WILL be stolen and others will be selling your designs. That's just how it is on Etsy today. It's a dumpster fire, but that's just my opinion.

Hi, thank you for this great video, I've found it very interesring, I always like Kittl's content! I follow Mandy and she is amazing, very helpful, professional and so sweet! I like to watch her videos and her free starting course is perfect!! I would like to see other videos about trends, searching for trends, and also how to make etsy listing in bundles, that is how to put different items for sale in the same listing (t-shirt, shopping bag, accessories) and how to deal with the final price. This was a great interview. I appreciate Mandy going over doing your own research directly through Etsy without having to subscribe to paid research software. I wish she was more upbeat in her own videos like she was in this interview. I stopped watching her content because it would always make me sleepy or I just had a hard time staying engaged because she speaks so low and slow. Would love to see more content on doing research directly with Etsy or just outside of paid software. And how to find the right tags/SEO for a new niche that doesn’t currently exist on Etsy using current design trends. Thank you both for this great content!

AI is just a tool. You can either whine about it or learn how to use it to grow your business. I wonder if painters complained about Photoshop this way back in the day.

Etsy may not be dead, but your store could be. For some b.s. reason with no notice and they'll hold your funds. I just saw a screenshot in a facebook group... Etsy is literally holding someone's funds for six months. How is that even legal? Instead of asking if Etsy is dead, you should be asking if people want to gamble all that time and effort into creating an Etsy store that could be lost just like that. Why not put that effort into your own store that you have control over? You have to drive traffic to your products either way.

Having your own store and driving traffic there is definitely a strong play! Etsy is still valuable however, as you are working with an already-booming platform that has millions of monthly views.

@@Kittldesign I would love to hear from an Etsy seller with a relatively new store who is relying only on Etsy search for traffic and is making a good income without paying for ads. Etsy might have millions of monthly views, but there are also 7 million sellers to compete with. Are new stores with no selling history or reviews getting found in search so well that they're making more than a few sales? Without paying for Etsy ads? That's what I'm curious about. I used to sell there back in the days when you could properly optimize your listing and be at the top of the results within hours. Different world then. ;)
