Cassiy. If i may. Can you do a demonstration video on what to do when a personalisation order comes in?. My store less than 10 days old. I am strapped for cash also. So i would appreciate some tips for that where mockups are comcerned. And thirdly, can u do a demonsteation on how to do the two shirt design on canva? (Add whether there is another design app that can be used!) How does one get that done on printify? Will they just print both shirts as is on your mockup?

I started Feb 2023 last year and as of today I have almost 430 in sales with 0 design experience, just a lot of youtube video tutorials, and chose a specific niche (rave clothing). It's really not too late and anyone can learn to do it! Once you start to have a grasp of it it becomes clockwork.

As a shopper, I absolutely HATE the loss leader strategy. Nothing makes me click off of a listing faster than clicking on a T-shirt for $9.75 and finding out that it's for a baby onesie or an XXS shirt that's out of stock and the T-shirt I wanted is actually $30. I'd rather pricing be honest even if it's higher. Maybe make basic white $1 or $2 cheaper, but making it a MASSIVE difference looks really shady.
@Elizaflower7 ай бұрын
I totally agree, and as a seller I'm kind of stuck here. The baby onesie or laptop sticker trick gets a seller's listings in front of customers, fast. Pricing my items fairly always seems to put them on page 3 or further of search results, where no one is going to ever see them. As a newer seller, I wish we didn't have to try to trick the system just to keep up with others who are tricking the system.

Cassiy, you have definitely inspired me! I'm in the beginning stages of setting up shop, and could not be happier to have found your channel! I've watched many, many, maaany Esty consultants on YT promising the moon and stars if you purchase their course, but I never really bought into any of it until I stumbled onto you. You're the first one I truly believe. The way you present is very approachable and your business plan feels achievable - if someone is willing to put in the work. Unfortunately I'm not in the position to purchase your course at the moment, but I will not forget that it is available. I have gone ahead and bought your Income & Expense Report and the POD Calendar and I nearly choked on my coffee! LOL They are so thorough and informative! I will definitely be following your calendar schedule with my new shop. To anyone reading this comment - just buy them. You're welcome.

Great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. I think the problem with probably the majority of people setting up any kind of business is that the have read far too many of these "clickbait" headline KZbin videos where people shout about these ridiculous claims to have made huge sums of money literally overnight, but you just have to be realistic. From my understanding if you start a new store on Etsy and add some stock to your shop like anything on the internet it takes time for Google and the "algorythm" to find and trust you, this can takes weeks even months? So to expect any kind of overnight success is not realistic.

Great advice as always. I would add to the Optimizing For Click principle to use that Adjust Thumbnail function in your listing and zoom in just right on the thumbnail photo to maximize viewability of your design as potential buyers are scrolling. If the thumbnail photo is just the full mockup photo your design can get lost on tiny image photo and not stand out as much (this coming from someone who has yet to make a sale but I thought I would add :-).
@CassiyJohnson11 ай бұрын
Definitely great addition! There are so many tiny things to learn and I couldn’t fit them all in but yes zooming in enough that you can read the design better but still far out enough that you can see the cute mock-up too!!

i just learned that Etsy (whose whole thing is shipping items to your buyers via PODs) does NOT have the capacity to offer the different shipping rates from the variants in Printify. They give you 'work arounds'. I am curious how you handle this. I created a blanket and now I find out I should either do a separate listing for each size or change pricing to capture the loss on the larger blankets; and my customer that buys the smaller one is paying the shipping for the medium one and my customer who buys the largest one is paying for the medium shipping rate! I am honestly gobsmacked. Thank you.

Hi Cassiy, another great video at just the right time. Thank you. I have a question about when you said if you find something selling well in one niche like your matching Mom and Dad shirts we should then put it on another product. So in this case like a phone case? I wasn't sure if I'd picked that up wrong because it was my understanding that we were supposed to make a store just selling one product (eg apparel) and then do lots of different niches. Not phone cases and apparel and prints and mugs and so on. Have I picked that up wrong? Would love your feedback. Thank you in advance :)
@CassiyJohnson11 ай бұрын
Some niches could do well on phone cases and clothes but I'd say those probably don't always cross with each other, like for example "Pet memorial" niche is really popular for things like Ornaments, candles and mugs but probably wouldn't sell as well on clothing. So as long as the niche makes sense on that item then you are good to try it but you have to make sure people are looking for that niche + that item as well. A shirt to a sweatshirt is a small change if that makes sense. I sell multiple types of products in my store and multiple niches, I think it's totally fine to do that but would likely recommend not getting into tons of different products before you start seeing success with one, so that way you have time to really learn that product and understand what types of designs people buy on it!

Hey Cassiy, I hope you're doing well. I haven't started my store yet, but I've been busy creating a number of designs using Canva. I watched one of your videos where you mentioned that some of the designs on Canva require royalties to be paid. I'm really interested in using Canva's designs, but I'm not sure how the royalties system works or what it actually looks like. I was wondering if you could do a video on this topic for me, specifically focusing on Canva and any other graphics outlets. It would be great if you could also explain how to find out the charges per graphic. I've been super excited about getting my store up and running, but I've been struggling to find information that answers my questions about this matter. Thank you so much for your help, Cassiy!

Hey! I am not sure what you're talking about with royalties on graphics, definitely wasn't me that said that. If you just pay for the Pro plan on Canva, then you can use any graphics you want all included! You just can't use anything all by itself, you need to make your own designs using the elements that you find in Canva, either by mixing it with text as well or other graphics. Hope that helps!

You mentioned in another video that you also sell on Amazon. What printing website do you use for that? Will you be making an Amazon video as well? Thank you for all the helpful info and tips! I can’t wait to get started.

Hello Cassiy! Thank you so much for sharing all these information with us 😊 I have a question: I started my shop last year and I made three sales now I have niched down and I made my first sale I am adding some St Patrick’s Day designs and for example I have one that says: One lucky 1st grade teacher (custom to change the grade) but I was wondering if you suggested I list every year separately and maybe also have like subjects such as one lucky math teacher, one lucky PE teacher, even if is the “same” design (font and color) thank you 😊 ❤
@CassiyJohnson11 ай бұрын
I think it's a great idea to do some A/B testing and try out both ideas, you never really know which one will hit just the right way. So why not leave your custom one as is and then also try the more specific ones! I had a "One Lucky Teacher" shirt be a bestseller a few years ago so you are definitely on the right track

Thank you so much for all this valuable information, Cassiy. Your videos are absolutely the best. Question: I am currently selling t-shirts and sweatshirts in my store ( cities designs ) and it's going well but I would like to add canvas tote bags as well. Do you recommend that I create a completely new store on etsy only for totes, or should I add the tote bags in my current store? Thank you so much for all your help.
@CassiyJohnson10 ай бұрын
Definitely just add them to the same store

@@CassiyJohnson Thank you so much for your fast reply, Cassiy. Honestly, I was not aware of that. I spoke to a trademark attorney couple years ago and as long as I remember he said cities can't be trademarked on its own. Do you know of any cases or specific cities that are trademarked? I would appreciate more details on this....any links , articles etc. I haven't had any issues so far but you never know. It's getting harder because I feel like every second word is trademarked. Thank You.
@samferrimy712410 ай бұрын
Thank you for the video. My store has been open for a few months now, only one sale. It’s very discouraging. Like another person said, every other word is trademarked. I wish the government would stop trademarking all the common words, it’s so infuriating. My cats are Ace and Alice
@CassiyJohnson10 ай бұрын
I get the frustration about trademarks but there are lots of other options too! Plenty of graphic only shirts sell really well or even shirts with just one word on it like "teacher". Just keep making sure you are finding in demand items that are selling really well right now and trying out different designs for them based on research you do of what's selling, and eventually it will all come together

I live with 9 dogs and 19 farm cats, and I'm working on POD to give them all a better life. Here are some names: Samson, Bella, Ginger, Roxy, Max, Bucky, Badger, Lucy, Lenny ( the dogs), Malia, Chammy, Anthony, Junior, Spot, Clownface, Chewbacca, Ernie, Willis, MC Kitty, Blossom, Davis, Kimmy, Hagar, Morris, Klaus, Mary Kate, Ethyl, Petunia, (the cats), plus assorted poultry, sheep, a mini pig named Mushu, and a horse named Feather. Thanks for the video, you're helping more lives than you realize.

Wait what is a farm cat? Were they being raised to be slaughtered for meat like most farm animals and you rescued them from that fate? I have never heard this term farm cat.

Ella is my coworker. I have noticed recently that Etsy is automatically filtering for free shipping when I log on. This seems to have happened when they announced the new Gift roll-out. I have been the sales dumpster for the last two weeks, so I am trying free shipping to see if that helps.

Cassiy, do you have a full instructional video on using Hello Custom? I downloaded it but I’m worried about if I’m setting it up right and also where I would get a pdf version of the design I create in printify…
@CassiyJohnson11 ай бұрын
I don't have a full tutorial for it just yet but here is a link to a tutorial on hello Custom's channel! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYrVhqCAf7KZd7csi=-KKRh65j5D9Vk2r0 For the PDF's it's super simple, just in Canva, instead of saving it as a PNG file, save it as a PDF Print and that will be perfect to use on Hello Custom! You will just also save it as a png to upload to Printify first. Hope that helps!

I don’t have any pets currently… But I did have a couple dogs that were the last pets I had and my friend still has them to this day because she had more space and a fenced in backyard, that I didn’t at the time have several years back… But they were golden retriever/husky mixes, and their names were Hope and Faith. Anyway…Thanks for sharing all your tips. I’ve been trying to “do research “watching a bunch of different content creators and the tips and tricks that they have to offer before I actually dive into the print on demand space fully…But I think the next thing I’m going to go with, is learning different programs through skill share in hopes that it helps make me better at doing like graphic designs and illustrations for T-shirts and cups and all this other stuff that’s good for print on demand items. I do love knowing all about the copyright stuff though and stuff to avoid and things to do and so I like to watch different videos after I get off of my regular 9 to 5 so that I can build all this useful info in a journal before I try to take off with my business. I know I could probably just go ham, and hope that something happens randomly by throwing together 100+listings… But I would rather be a little bit more informed and prepared…since it’s not like an absolute dire emergency to get it going. I’d rather spend the next month or two researching before I just go completely in on it with zero clue. I want to be informed and have education so that I’m not flying blindly and that my products are quality items.

Hi Cassiy..I have a few hundred designs all good to go, the only thing holding me back is the fact that I need to have the cash in my printify account for when a tshirt goes into production...In an ideal world it would be great if etsy gave you the cash for the sale of a tshirt within 24hrs then the money would be there for printify..Its just having the money there thats holding me back...

Thank you for always sharing the best info! I love your channel and have learned so much! I have a digital product biz on Etsy making clip art, I would like to turn some of those designs into a POD biz. How much $ do you recommend having to cover costs when you start the print on demand business?
@CassiyJohnson12 күн бұрын
So glad my videos have still been able to help 🎉 I’d recommend having a few hundred dollars to get started to cover the costs but if you’re uploading them to an existing Etsy shop then hopefully you won’t be on payment reserves which makes the money come back to you way faster!
