A bit of information to add: 1. During the Tartaros arc Juvia says that it's been over 400 days since she met Gray. Lucy def turns 18 earlier. Also... most popular shonen have fan service of girls from 14-16 soooo. Orihime, Sakura, Hinata, Nami, Bulma barely scratch the surface 2. Everyone in FT has their magic tied to nature and their spirit which emotions bring out it's full potential. That's why determination/sadness can give a slight boost that isn't noticeable but trauma can give huge boosts. Examples are: Sting beating his master after thinking Lector died, Ultear destroying Gray when being reminded of her past, Juvia making it rain and her water steaming when Gray's life is on the line. Natsu has a special ability, Flame of emotion which Eisenwald even stated at the start of the series. It makes that boost even higher. That's why Zeref said it but people think it's just some fancy name. Natsu experienced death and was crying as he fell because he heard Makrov just died. That's why he had that emotion amp. 3. Fairy tail has more deaths than the likes of OG Naruto, Bleach before final arc, My Hero, Black Clover so that point is stupid. It doesn't bother me but it's valid to not like fake outs but we can't ignore facts. It's just main characters that live.

I absolutely love how Acnologia was defeated, every character we’ve come to know came up with an actual strategy to defeat him, using a weakness to specifically dragon slayers established in the beginning of the story that’s just good writing. And I know the “they came up with a strategy” sounds like “well obviously” but in most Shonen I find it generally rare for all the cast to work together and again come up with a strategy that makes sense to defeat the final antagonist, I wish something like that was done with Madara from Naruto for example, imagine building up a great final villain for so long and then he gets impaled through the back by the henchman of an alien.

The point about Natsu's attacks being the same shit gave me a fucking aneurysm. Even with the same moves, Natsu applies them in the most creative ways in various situations, and this is something we see very early on too, like when he used Fire Dragon Roar to propel himself during his fight with Lyon. As a matter of fact, the way Natsu uses his fire to get shit done is exactly what got me so fired up about Fairy Tail in the first place

Fairy tail is like literally one of my first ever anime shows, and I was crazy obsessed with it. But yeah, objectively it is very mid. it is mid, but it is still very endearing for me. Most of the "issues" mentioned are literally what defined shonens back then, pick up any from the early era please. And it is still prevalent in mainstream shonens nowadays, like kaiju 8 or mashle or the n amount of series I can name. Heck, the issues with the fairy tail from 15-10 years ago are done in unironic exaggeration by Dragon ball to this day. Goku has achieved ultra instinct, technique wielded by angels but still has some character absolutely wiping the floor with both Goku and vegeta every single arc. Wtf is even orange piccolo. Be more creative. Before you say anything, I'm caught up with dbs manga, so ik what I'm talking about. Krillin, piccolo, the androids and others should've been irrelevant WAYY too long ago with Goku and vegeta's 400x, 1000x, 20,000, 10,000,000x or, 300,000,000x multipliers. It's bullshit. But it's fiction. Everybody has their own palates.

Actually Gildarts is inspired from One Piece, but in a good way. I heard from a trustmebro source that the author's assistant at that time worked for the One Piece author then moved to Fairy Tail. If you notice all the characters in the very first chapter has the skinny texture hand just like One Piece. I mean there is nothing wrong at all and the stories of the 2 mangas are completely different. There is always a crazily strong guy in every anime and Fairy Tail having it is a complete norm.

I mean there is nothing wrong since OP is a big and old anime like a big and successful brother. Being inspired by it is completely fine. Beside like the video he says Mashima tried to change Gildarts' outfit in the later seasons, which means he knows the drama about this character and he wants to fix it.
