Imagine having to wait a whole ass expansion for a job rework, its insane...
@kohlicoide22585 күн бұрын
Tbh what is for me more a insult.. the devs CLEARLY play favorit with some jobs, for example Monk. Get a rework in DT, get a Rework in EW and also a soft rework in ShB (not 100% sure about that but i know they change something) AST gets a card rework every Addon. PLD gets a soft rework just because his old playstyle worked poor in DSR and the Devs dont think about the fact that PLD cant block dot damage before they create a Savage Tier where almost everything does DoT Damage.. to quote Yoshi P "Are they even play their own game?" But they cant rework DRK? Nah they just dont care about it.. and try to keep this job "alive" with as little effort as possible because removing a job from a game entirely (not just playstyle also aesthetic) can result in a very unhappy community. Then we look at DRK he is in the same state since Shadowbringer in the end, and here is the part were i clearly say "The devs dont want this job at all". When Inner Release etc get reworked they literally need feedback of the community to get reminded of the fact that Bloodweapon is _Garbage_ at how it works in Shadowbringer, first in the first bigger content patch it get is stacks or Living Dead.. it was in this whole "You cant heal yourself but you die if you dont get healed, but when you get healed to fast you also die." for _entire Shadowbringer_ why no one of the devs dont notice that? Or so much later? I mean back then a Whitemage was almost mandatory when you have a DRK and even now it can _happen_ sometimes that DRK still die to LD (when you play 2.5, bad ping, weakness.. etc) I think if they can they would literally delete DRK out of the game, because you clearly see that the devs dont care at all anymore.. or for far to long time, because idgf about the missing plunge i dont rly liked it anyway.. but the 2 missing Bloodweapon stacks are rly hurt the DRK because People often say "DRK lost one Edge of Shadow per Minute with that" i just write that different that people understand the big idiocy behind that.. "DRK lost one TBN per Minute." they take the Tank with the worst selfhealing in the entire game and nerf it even more. I dont know who designed Darkknight but he is clearly incompetent and he should honest to the community and just say "We hate this job, can we please delete him to focus more on the other tanks?" Edit: Because i talk about the lost TBN because of the reduced Bloodweapon MPs, this was also easy to avoid if the devs are not lazy.. just change the Bloodweapon MP from 600 (5x600=3000) to 1000 per hit (3x1000=3000) and their is no big difference besides that you have MAYBE one EoS use more early in pull to avoid overcapping.. but again.. they need to put effort for that in the job.. and this is a big no no.

The perspective "you also pay a sub to play all the cool old content" is honestly a punch in the face for those who play since the beginning or already did the old content in the EW lull. An MMO shouldn't be just old content and the new content is so far away it could just not exist and right now no, the sub money is not worth it in my opinion. Fun fact: There used to be a reason to go back and play the cool old content. Playing the cool old content used to progress your relic weaponm. It used to be that even logging in and doing your roulettes would be relic progress. That went away when the gated the relic weapon behind its own zone... And then delayed it into the middle of the patch cycle... So there's no reason to go back and do the old content once it's "solved". It doesn't progress anything. That said: It would be fun if they had some form of progression that incentivized this... But it's probably not possible because it doesn't fit in YoshiP's spreadsheets (and we all know how much fun those are).

Given the success of the game you would think they would invest into adding game content. But they just shuffle the cards around like less dungeons but you get island sanctuary. Instead on the contrary many forms of content have become worse over time like dungeons, alliance raids, field exploration zones, events, deep dungeon and even savage at this point. Joined in endwalker and the game still feels contentless already. I love lots of parts of the game but squenix has realized they can produce no content and still people sub. I'm a 1.0 player that literally only subs to keep my house at this point. The take a break argument is total garbage and always has been. Fundamentally, the content output relative to the requested funds just does not track and the goodwill has run out at this point. Dawntrail's joke of an MSQ and lack of anything outside of raid tier content for the first 6 months is laughably bad by any metric. Expansions should be new systems, features, and stories, not the same trough of fates, same hunts, same treasure maps, same dungeon with a different coat of paint. It's just tired and old. If jobs were more interesting or the gearing system not quite so aggressively vertical (i.e. every six months launch your gear directly into the garbage for bigger number), we might get away with older content lasting, but their philosophy is akin to a fast food joint. It's single shot, low-investment content that runs it's course and will only ever been seen again on a blue moon roulette run if that. I sound particularly negative because this is a game I've followed and played since the very beginning. I've loved jobs that have been butchered, I've loved raids that no longer have relevance, I've loved systems that have been left to rot in the dust (Squadrons, GCs, Chocobos, tons of Golden Saucer content), and the sense that this game is no longer for me weighs heavy. I want a reason to play and I want to support CBU3 - FF is my all-time favourite franchise from childhood. They're just not delivering a quality product anymore. It really is that simple.

@SeraphVariel5 күн бұрын
@@lemontonk I think the main reason you're so satisfied by what's left in the 'mountain of content' as you put it is precisely because you weren't around for when it released. Having that backlog of content means that you don't have to be concerned about figuring out what to do next, while those who have been playing longer tend to be stuck with one or two choices, outside of becoming an achievement hunter. Having all of the content spaced out as we do means those who have done the majority of content in the game finish with it in like, a week, and even when there is 'new' content, often it's just the same content reskinned, or worse, further simplified. The content patches are predictable, take too long to come out, and are often filled with one and done content as well- especially when the track record for actually new content has such bad rewards (Criterion). I'm glad you're enjoying the content, but I'm at the point where I'm so jaded that I believe it to be the early honeymoon phase of a newer player speaking for you. Once you catch up to having done most of the content in the game, and do all of the content as it releases for an expansion, and then repeat it next expansion, I hope you won't turn out like the majority of the veteran player base, due to the expected content in Dawntrail. Things need to change after remaining the same for near to 10 years, and so far, many of us aren't convinced that it will, especially at the speed content releases right now.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with it, but I just don't think I understand why you would want to keep spending money on a subscription for a game you have no interest in playing, and therefore the house doesn't really mean much since you won't really be using it anyway. I also miss the event dungeons xD As for adding stuff in to flop content like Island Sanctuary, i feel like for some stuff they just dont have time to develop it differently after the fact or it cant be made apriority because its not an important enough piece of content. Personally, im excited also for just the basic stuff we always get. I LOVE beast tribes. I LOVE alliance raids. I LOVE extreme trials. I found variant really fun and still havent really tried criterion! So this plus all the new stuff we're getting is really exciting for me. I do think we need more midcore content though in terms of difficulty. Theres plenty to scratch the itch for a casual player, but someone who wants a difficulty lvl harder than the average dungeon but not as hard as ex/savage... there's really not a lot. Id love to see more Bozja level difficulty (like the CEs and raids), and im hoping the next exploration zone will be similar in difficulty. Also, ngl, theres nothing wrong with just unsubbing when youre bored and resubbing when a new patch drops (speak with your money as they say). Like, I do think there should be slightly more new content to do... but we dont need a game creating nothing more than busywork for us to do or turning grindy (because sadly, this is often the route games take to get people to keep playing --chores and grinding). Idk im just really excited about being able to play other games and I dont want ffxiv to turn into something where I feel too busy to be able to do that xDD

In terms of story, I consider Dawntrail only really worth it after the start of the Shaaloani/Heritage Found/Solution9-arc, which is the point where I found Dawntrail became to be fun and interesting (except for that the English voice line during the last trial, you know what I mean). Before that (Wuk's trials) it's a rather underdeveloped gameplay-free plot-hole-driven dialogue-marathon that has barely any relevance during the second half of the expansion. Once Heritage Found/Solution9 is reached, I found it to be extremely entertaining, the new raid series is amazing in both mechanics and story and I can't wait to see the next tiers of it, both story- and gameplay-wise. Personally I wish the main part of Dawntrail was only about Shaaloani/Alexandria (Wuk's trials should have been a post-expansion story while the appearance of the Dome should have been the start of Dawntrail), I found the story and mystery about Alexandria and what happened to it so much more engaging and interesting than the first half ot the expansion.
@clintonwilcox46905 күн бұрын
On the contrary, Wuk's trials should have been the main focus of the expansion and Heritage Found, etc., should have been the next expansion. The whole point of this expansion was Wuk's trials, and that was what was played up. Instead, we got what felt like two different stories crammed into one. There were things they promised that they just didn't follow through with or didn't pull off in a satisfactory way that probably would have improved the experience if they had really done much with it. For example, they really hyped up a rivalry between Scions. Instead what we got was one or two moments during a dungeon where there was some dialogue, and the appearance of rivalry (which really just amounted to still taking a linear path rather than having to react and think on our feet to figure out how we'd get out of the situation the rival put us in). But we ended up teaming up fairly quickly in the story. They also really hyped up that we'd find out more about Krile's past but they dropped the ball on that, too. The whole thing was just rushed and underdeveloped, and if they had really allowed the Wuk's trials expansion to marinate and really focused on it and what they hyped up before, it could have been a lot better than what we actually got.

Nowadays if you even dare to say you want more content you get: "Oh my god, just unsubscribe. And when people gang up on you (which is a necessity in Frontline), there's nothing you can do to escape, and there are even cheater moves (such as a combination of jobs where they can pull a large group of people in and then instantly kill them). There's just no fun in PvP modes.

Look at older content like normal raids dungeons and 24 man. They used to have real mechanics that wiped parties. But now we need all content to be accessibke by everyone so anytjing casual is telegraphed aoe puddle into raidwide that does 0 dmg. The content has been so dumbed down to be inclusive you can literally close your eyes and run through it. I play tank and whenever new content comes out i kake it a point to stand in every aoe showing they do nothing. It take 6 stacks of vuln before you take any damage. Its a joke. This isnt mmo content its brainrot.
@Redcritxx5 күн бұрын
the content cadence would be fine if this game didnt have a sub but player pay monthly and i think its pretty bad to have so little content for you paying customers on launch and the argument for going back to do older content is stupid alot of older players already did it back then your most loyal customers that have been playing for years what about them? even as a raider i feel like there is not much reason to login other than weekly reclears i feel bad for the casuals who dont raid like once you are finish with the mid msq there is nothing for you to do

Savage should be x.02 not .05 then they should do a .05 with criterion and other stuff ie relic. .1 alliance and chaotic and exploration zones .15 more relics. The fact the expansion doesnt get going till.25 is criminal

I said it before and I'll say it again: All they had to do to make Island Sanctuary relevant was to make it so you could purchase/move your personal plot there (with available size upgrades, of course) and add a marketboard in it. Congratulations, you just made literally everyone who plays in populated servers happy to have their own house and opened up a ton of plots for FCs from people who moved their existing personal plots to the island. You can already visit a friend's Island Sanctuary, so you wouldn't even miss on the social aspect of it.
@clintonwilcox46905 күн бұрын
Exactly. I really wish they would have allowed Island Sanctuary to be housing content for those for us who a) don't have millions of gil to drop on a house, and b) don't want to endlessly grind away to try and get that much gil (I'm not even sure how someone amasses that much gil in the first place). If they would have made it housing content, put a marketboard on it, add the ability to summon your retainers, etc., it would have been much more valuable as content, in my opinion. Instead, the devs made it just something to kill some time in every day until you accomplish everything there is to do.
@lolthesystem4 күн бұрын
@@clintonwilcox4690 The problem isn't even amassing that much gil, if you farm EXs and stuff like Bozja you can sell a lot of pretty expensive items. You can also craft items the raiders use to make money consistently (food, pots, etc...). The real problem is the lottery, especially in crowded servers. Good luck getting a plot when there's 100+ people all gunning for that same plot. Making it so you could buy the plot in the Island Sanctuary instead (or move your current one over there) and upgrade it to make it bigger over time would solve that problem outright.

I have been playing FF for about 6 months and I am an ex-wow player and let me say that WoW's content is just as predictable as FF... just as redone as FF and can be/feel just as same ole same ole FF... but FF does ole content WAY better than WoW. Do not let all the flashy things blizzard puts in your face for that sub money trick you because it is all watered down and released in a bug mess just like the 20th anniversary patch was.... trust. with that being said Tho FF does need more newer content on a little faster pace because if I wasn't new and going back and getting relics and unlocking things I would be bored if I was a player that has been around for years. Overall I'm loving Dawntrail and really looking forward to seeing what comes next!!!

I lost interest so quickly after finishing the Dawntrail MSQ. I guess the story matters more to me than I realized. Dawntrail just didn't get me invested in the world and the events therein.
@GottiEss5 күн бұрын
it sucks that new jobs come at level 80, by then since the game was simplified awhile back you pretty much get a complete job, the devs have over time made content but the content is so easy to complete since they dont want people to "grind" at all that it doesnt feel fulfilling in the end. the last relics were a shining example of that, they were pretty much tome weapons. if people have to pay a sub then they should have content coming out pretty much monthly, there are normal buy once games that crank out more to do than ff14 at this point. whatever happened to hard mode dungeons? sure they were just remixes but even that would help shut people up. go back and count the amount of dungeons in arr and heavensward compared to newer expacs...its wild how much the game has actually scaled back compared to how famous its gotten.

I think that when the suggestion of doing "evergreen" content, doing "everything" in the game, or "take a break" comes up you know that the game's in trouble, especially for a sub based MMO. 99% of that stuff is mind numbingly boring, unrewarding and pointless for most players. No one cares about the "Collect 50,000 McGuffins for an umbrella", "do boring 8 year old thing for 800 hours to get a title", etc. There is not enough combat content or decent rewards/incentive to do 90% of what's in the game. It's very one and done. I love the game but there are single player games I own that deliver more content at a better pace than 14 does now, most of my friends have quit and PF is dead so I can't even get groups now lol.
@AzuriteTV4 күн бұрын
I completely agree! Maybe I didn't deliver "you pay for old content too" well enough because it's a fact but also I agree that there simply isn't enough evergreen combat content, and not everyone wants to do achievement hunting doing the most menial tasks like Leve quests and such.

So the funny thing about their four month patch cycle. They've never hit it once since announcing that way back in EW. Every single patch has been over four months. 7.1 will actually end up being five months. That's why patches feel so much longer then just a two week delay. They are

As a year old player who really wanted to get into raiding, i have almost given up on it now. And it's coz of the homework culture around the raid content. All i wanted was learn my part properly and be done with it. And not be cause of a raid wipe. That definitely did not happen. I have a 9 hours job developer job and the last thing i wanna do during my free time is watch 20 mins raid guide, only to find that what i watched is actually different from what others in my pre made group did. Maybe if i was a younger or had more time, i would care but not anymore. The source that pays for this subscription is mentally draining and I dont wanna rope myself into something that involves being mindful of others constantly and keep up with all sorts of raid guides and techniques. I thought maybe this game was different but nope, the raid content is just like what I left Lost Ark for, only a bit tamer. Yes the community is nice but seeing late joiners being immediately dubbed as bad players without even giving them a proper intro into hard core raiding through other means is just so bad. I kinda wish savage content also clicked in roulette. Then at least there would be a bit more motivation to go further. I just dont wanna watch guides more than necessary or worry about strat to follow.

Dawntrail got so bad it had me playing WoW again, and honestly it felt like being given a pitcher of cold, crisp water after I have been parched in a desert for a week. For all its faults, and there are many, WoW actually has a lot of shit to do for many facets of gameplay and it's regularly cycling events to keep things fresh throughout even without the evergreen content.
@ragerblade826 күн бұрын
Not right now it is not. I can't enjoy it. They have been the closest to being the top, and they played it too safe. They need to move the bar, but I doubt they can due to lack of man power, and skilled people. They really need to get creative with this game. Story can only carry a mmo so far.
@DeadEye9355 күн бұрын
People are mostly just feeling the effects of EW's content being lacking. There's not much to go back and work on, unlike the start of EW. You could go back and work on Bozja, relics, etc. There really isn't much now worth going out of your way for or even has an active community around it. Good luck trying to get folks to do criterion, or have fun doing variants by yourself I guess. Once we get the content that EW lacked, people will be just fine. Honestly though, doing a 40 hour rpg story with tough post game bosses and then whining that there's nothing to do only three months later is legitimately insane to me. What I don't want is the devs to try to appeal to gacha crack addicts with constant events and grinds. My interest in the game would plummet, and those people they're trying to appeal to are terminally unhappy anyways, so everyone would lose.

I won’t disagree things have gotten stale and that the team have played too safe a good deal of the time with the content patches being predictable, but I think it also comes down to how much you value your time and what you look for in games. I find it hard to say your money is being wasted when you have invested hundreds of hours in a game over your time playing it, but I know that’s more short term thinking. I am heavily looking forward to 7.1 for its new editions and the future of Dawntrail with its story patches, dungeons, and future raid tiers, but I have little over 1k hours in XIV with there still being a bevy of content I haven’t done actively from old raids to fishing. It’s easier said than done to tell people to go out and be adventurous, you want to provide incentives that’s more than self satisfaction, and I don’t have immediate answers for that. And I’m not saying it’s bad to want to ask for better, more consistent content, and some people feel disappointed with Dawntrail in its current state. Though, even if every concern was properly addressed every concern every player had, it wouldn’t make everyone happy because people always want different things. Again, I’m not trying to be a white knight for the dev team, or say that people who are complaining are just whining, I still feel optimistic for the remainder of Dawntrail, and I want to spread my wings more and actively engage more in the content I haven’t done, and try out the content of the new patches when they’re ready. XIV has always respected my time and it’d leave a bad taste in my mouth to say it needs to rush out its content faster.
