Oh, yes! I hadn't thought of that! Thank you for the suggestion. Now I feel dumb. Haha!

I can definitely see the value in it making you slow down and really consider composition. It's so easy with digital to run and gun and hope for the best!
@JudeStreicherPhoto3 ай бұрын
I find when I shoot with digital, I come home with dozens of mediocre images. With film, I shoot way less, but I'm far happier with the photos. Ever considered incorporating film into your channel?
@brianbeattyphotography3 ай бұрын
@@JudeStreicherPhoto I can definitely see that happening. I haven't really. Though that 6x7 you just put up looks cool. I'm mostly not patient enough to wait around that long I think

Thank you! And yeah, I flip flop so often. When I need my therapy, I go film. When I need my high-energy adventure, I go digital. Haha!
@brianbeattyphotography3 ай бұрын
@@JudeStreicherPhoto that just makes me want a Pentax 67 even more haha. The 5DSR and 50S both make me slow down a ton, so maybe I'm getting some of the benefit with those two... but it is tempting. Run and gun shooting with the R5 definitely doesn't feel the same as the other two

@@brianbeattyphotography I know exactly what you mean. DSLR vs Mirrorless is something that we rarely consider, but mirrorless is so techy, it feels like you're running around with a computer not a camera.

Another good one Jude. As a pure hobbyist here, shooting film always seems to stimulate my thought process, in a good way. Look forward to your next video.

Good video, thanks! I live north of you in Western Montana and we've been getting the same forest fire haze for weeks, ugh. I've been shooting 4x5 Rollei infrared and 120 Ilford SFX and the infrared really eliminates the haze. Also, I appreciate you being kind to the rattlesnake, they are an amazing and important animal.
@JudeStreicherPhoto3 ай бұрын
Oh Western Montana is a beautiful! What area do you like to photograph? I have a couple rolls of infrared. Been saving them for the Sawtooth range but just haven't been able to get out there lately.

@JudeStreicherPhoto I live just north of Missoula in the Rattlesnake Valley adjacent to a recreation and wilderness area. I've done most of my photography within a five mile walk from home. There's a 15-mile corridor into the wilderness area that you can bike into! I love the Sawtooths...would love to get down there again!

Nice work (again). I thought the hole in the dark cloth went around the camera back. Putting it over your head is a great alternative, caped crusader!
@JudeStreicherPhoto3 ай бұрын
Hahaha! It does make me feel extra heroic wearing it like that - it's actually a dark cloth I made from a couple old t-shirts I bought at a secondhand store. They work much better around the neck than around the camera. Thank you so much for the comment!

Great to see you out about again! And great to see there's some life left in that Pentax, if I recall correctly you had some issues with it.
@JudeStreicherPhoto3 ай бұрын
Hey it's great to be out for sure! And yes, this Pentax is still broken, unfortunately. Shoots well, but the advance lever is weird and I wind up with 6-7 exposures instead of the normal 10.

@@JudeStreicherPhoto that a shame, a beast of a camera otherwise. Better make those frames count :) Looking forward to the next video, take care!

Film photography, like most things, is far less viable in America than most other places. People are really trying to bring it back, but it's very expensive, and Americans, on average, have less disposable income compared to other comparable countries. That said, I will continue to do my part to support it and hope more and more people do so as well. If we can get enough companies behind film photography, we might be able to close the viability gap with Europe.

It's great to know film photography is still alive and kickin' in other parts of the world. What do you shoot with, if you don't mind me asking?
@DirtyPlumbus3 ай бұрын
@JudeStreicherPhoto I'm all over the place, to be honest. I'm just getting back into it and running a brand new to me, Lubitel mainly, with a Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 521/2 coming that will probably replace it. As well as Polaroid Onestep 2, Instax Mini Evo (hybrid), and a Sprocket Rocket. Aside from the instant film and oddball cameras, I tend to stick to 120. Would love to get hands on an RB67 Pro, but I refuse to pay the going price for a camera that's basically guaranteed to have problems that need to be dealt with. Oh, I also just picked up Zero Image 2000 that I've been experimenting with.

The RB67 Pro is a super cool camera! If you want an RZ, let me know. Might be getting rid of mine. ;)

Just wondering what sort of tripod you are using. I’m thinking of moving to large format, and the choice of tripod is my last decision.

I use an iFootage Gazelle TC7 - it's a great lightweight tripod with a leveling ball head. Definitely not as expensive as some of the high end carbon fiber tripods nor is it the least expensive.
