Is Final Fantasy 7 Remake The Best In The Series?

For your question whether or not the game is nostalgic for people that haven't played the original I can at least speak for myself when I say no, not at all. My first exposure to FF was through Kingdom Hearts when the collections released when I was in college then my friend recommended FFXV knowing my love for KH. The demo for XV left a lot to be desired but it is now my all time favourite in the series. After some time a group of abridgers named TeamFourStar made an abridging of the entire FFVII game and that was how I experienced the game before the Remake and while the Remake is fantastically well made, the music is on point, the combat can be fun, ultimately I couldn't connect with a single character. Everything felt so over-the-top it felt theatrical which, in some cases, REALLY worked for the game like the Honey Bee Inn, that was just a lot of fun or saving Cloud in Don Corneo's mansion.

You know you're a proper gamer when your introduction to FF was through Kingdom Hearts 😂 I've heard similar criticisms from people who have never played the original - I would recommend playing the full OG because I think it gives you a different appreciation for Remake and Rebirth. But I can understand that not everybody wants to fully play the original - the gameplay kinda sucks nowadays imo

i agree with most of this, good yakuza comparison and yeah, the world building is fantastic. story and characters suck tho lol, the second half of the game was a disaster.

Before this my favourites were 10, 9 & 12. I need to replay 9 & 12 to see which one 7R knocks off the list

@AdziGaming no, tried though. Played both enjoyed 8 and 9, so didn't understand why. Might have been the love it got. That made the standard too high.
