Another great video and points Jon! I will add some of my experience with this, First I have read complaints that the FiTech tech support is terrible and yes it is BUT it is getting better. I know everyones expectations are for them to know their system inside and out and with a brand new product, these expectations are completely unrealistic. Second, while they are improving, they are dealing with serious growing pains and it will continue to improve. From my conversations with them they grew about 5 times faster than they had planned for simply because the system works and works well. Third, this system, along with Holley, MSD, ProJection etc. they are not plug and play as a one size fits all and this is a huge misconception that they all advertise along with the self learning as that is highly misleading to the new users. The systems must be tweaked to your individual engine and for those switching from carburetion, you know all too well that your vehicle and your buddies that is identical both run and start differently, some are cold natured while others run no matter what etc. This has to be tuned into the system to account for the motor. Another huge misconception is the fact that a carb will run well on a poorly maintained motor whereas any fuel injection system will not. Any intake or exhaust leaks will cause problems big time for the unit as it accounts for everything and rely on accurate data to do its job. If your motor is not up to snuff with leaks etc. don't expect the EFI unit to overcome that like a carburetor can because a carb is static tuned while an EFI unit is dynamically tuning. I helped Jon get his motor up and running and he discovered issues along the way that he has since addressed and his motor is running fantastic. I have installed many units in my shop, Fitech is preferred for us since I have taken the time to learn it, sure we will install other systems but I have minimal experience with them so as with anything we tend to stick with what we know. A final point with the timing, this is not something that learns in the FiTech, it is the same as a CDI box in the fact that you have to program your curve. The beauty of it is when set up correctly, you can simply make changes on the fly with the handheld without ever having to pop the hood. Hope this info helps!

Tom Hyde - Hey Tom, I was excited anticipating what Fitech could offer with the evolution of my now vintage Holden Gtr Torana, six cylinder, draw thru turbo configured and had almost all brands of quality carbies on it, but this fitech carby was space age for good old school that’s been tried and proven. I enjoyed the wiring in and placement of this project, did things as neat and professional as I could, then primed it up and started first kick, amazing. That was the start of me putting all my thinking, researching, enthusiasm and what I considered to be me as a modern day rev head mechanic to the test. If you fall off your baseline then things can go south pretty quickly, that’s the multiple variable that can and sometimes does ruin a good party. I feel that with each tune, or adventurous tweak of the cpu, I can make a difference, honing in on the best tune that this car has ever felt. It simply has to beat a Vac Secondary 600 Holley, and it’s sort of doing that, and with time to enjoy in this stressed out crazy world I will have that eye catching Torana boosting straight pass you and the feeling would of been worth every dollar.

The reviewer mentions the challenges of getting started. Do you want a challenge? Try playing around with performance tuning or carb building with no prior experience! The EFI is totally the way to go. And for 90 percent of enthusiasts, be sure to go the Throttle Body route. TBI injection is not perfect but is far simpler than port injection and for swapping from carb to FI is the only way to go unless you are going for all-out HP

Great video I give thumbs up to everything I've bought four of these for customers and myself and they are 100% awesome. at first customer service was just as you said slow and wait now it is fast quick informative I use option number two and the guy on the other end is just great fitech all the way I have use the original 400 horse, yes it had some problems but fitech took care of me 100 and 10%. The fuel command system is great I recommend it it is expensive but worth it. I am using the external fuel pump on the binderbird. (UTube binderbird) I burned up a few external pumps using the stock settings and I found you need to turn it down to about 40% no more fuel pump problems using the 600 horse unit on my international 345 engine out of a wheat truck and it is pure awesome the binderbird won't do 600 horses but it sure wants to. Out of 1 to 10 I give fi tech a 20

a single plane intake manifold can be a four-barrel intake.... it describes the plenum type. also, all fuel injection units should be used with a single plane intake manifold that way the computer can more equally distribute the fuel. a dual plane has two different sides to the intake one plenum goes to the left bank and one to the right bank, they are for more torque and they have longer runners.

When I first watched this, I thought, "Man, what a ton of work. I'd rather just put on a quality carb and call it good." Then when I actually decided to use my brain, I thought about all the trouble I go through to get my carb set up just right. I adjust the accelerator pump, change out the jets, turn the low and high screws, then go back and forth between all of that several times to see if one adjustment is better than the other. Then I try another carb that is 100 cfm less and go through the whole process again to see if I can get any considerable gains. That's a fair amount of fiddling around and two brand new carbs is not a small sum of money. At least when you get done fiddling around with the EFI, it is done. It just runs. No concerns about going too high in the mountains. No concerns about the choke on a rainy day. No concerns about -40F. No nothing. It just goes.

Hey Jon, EFI is totally worth it. We have installed both the FiTech and Holly systems here at our shop and either will get the job done. The Holly Sniper is cheaper when considering total price and more user friendly than the FiTech. While the FiTech can give you more tuning control, but over time FiTech tech support seems to have become overwhelmed so you had better be a geek if you own a FiTech. We also find the Holly system more off road friendly. Keep up the great videos.

You must be kidding, FiTech is total junk and is in no way comparable to Holley, or anyone else for that matter. I have installed and worked with Holley HP, Holley Dominator, MSD Atomic, Big Stuff 3 and use HP Tuners and all are way better and they actually have a ton of tech support and community support. The FiTech comes with junk CTS right out of the box, it has grounding issues, tuning resolution is crap, and the claims they make are not accurate as to hp support and so on. We worked with one FiTech on a BBF and we will never recomend nor work on one for someone again and if asked our opinion we will tell them they are better off nailing there nuts to a stump and having a buddy kick them over backwards.

I bought the go efi 400 with the inline pump kit already included from summit for $994. The only additional expenses I had was a fuel tank baffle for $35 from ebay and some extra efi clamps. I already had an intake and distributor so my cost was under $1050 if I don’t include the $60 I spent on noico sound deadener i put on the trunk to soften the high frequency resonance of the pump. So far it still needs fine tuning, bogs and hesitates at quick throttle and deccel. My main complain I would have to say is I wish they included the fine tuning instructions in the box instead of me trying to google them. I had no problem with the install that pertained to the unit. I think the sniper is more expensive.

Other than them using the WRONG boost sensor, that goes bad with a common binder for gasoline......its great. Mine went out in 1800 miles, Fitech ignored my requests, so i un potted it. Freescale built the sensor for Natural Gas. It has a low tolerance for the binder for oil in alcohol and meth. One more tip, if your going to use it any way ( the throttle body style) pick a correct intake!!! I used several till i found one that didnt soak the sensor with fuel under boost.

I must be the odd ball, I have had three customer service experiences and all were great. One was a question about dual plane or single plane intake which I couldn't find an answer to and the answered the phone promptly and explained the rare nuances or dual plane issues, a call about options not being in menu and getting a firmware upgrade and then a question about the white screen and getting low voltage to the handheld. All in all positive experiences. I have installed a Fast EZEFI, Holley Terminator, MSD Atomic EFI and ThunderMax and Dynojet Power commander for Harley... In three cases at least 2k more was spent. More time tuning and setup, issues with Boost and timing. In two cases, returning faulty units. I have done 3 Fitech installs now and have spent way less in time and money than the others.... What I want from fitech... gauge outputs, bluetooth phone app, transmission control

What I don't like about their system is mainly lack of information. No paper work comes with the kit, you have to download and print, or view installation and user guides on their website. When it comes to the point where businesses won't provide basic instructions for the products they sell, and their customers have to download and print their own instructions and information, the greed factor and cost cutting is getting way out of line. That isn't just a FiTech problem, and sadly younger people have grown up just accepting that's the way things are. If you have any problems or issues, good luck, no where on their site did I find any Trouble/Fault Code descriptions or what could possibly cause such codes. If they made such troubleshooting information available, people wouldn't have to contact them so much for answers. Trouble/Fault Codes are something that customers should definitely have access to. How do you troubleshoot issues if you don't know what the Trouble/Fault Codes mean?

The system with fuel pump is listed at 995$ from fitech directly so it sounds like you got ripped off by the dealer who sold you everything separate to begin with. You could have run it on a single plane manifold, whoever said you need a dual plane was bs’ing also and fitech sells a 2 barrel efi now. Same with the distributor, none of those needed to be replaced for the system to work. Not bashing but it sounds like you got bad information from a third party and you are passing it along.

After 2 years, I'm scrapping my FITECH and putting a holley back on it. It runs better and smoother. The FITECH wouldn't run the car..Literally. It would run for 10 seconds and stall. Put an old Holley on it and it ran perfectly. UGH. Another thousand in the hole. The ECU must not be working the injectors. It had to idle around 1100 RPMs with the FITECH, and now it idles at 850 with the Holley. I will miss the no pedal starts and no heat soak, but I need the car to actually run. Their tech support is also terrible.

First off thanks for posting is the fi tech system worth it with all you had to do ? To me NO!!!!! 1,700 ??? It works best with a single plane intake ? I heard this on other videos were did fi tech put this out in there add ? I didn't see it also I hear without timing control your limited like a carb basically they don't say this and the basic 2bbl 400 HP one they just came out with doesn't have it . I would not upgrade 2k just to use a fit tech system over a Holly carb to feel a slight whew I could use 2k to go on a cruise or a trip.and say whew too .

They get you though. You think it’s just $1,000 for fuel injection until you really add the cost up.

a dual plane manifold... that's what they recommend? I think you mean 4 barrel manifold. single plane and dual plane differ in that they have either 2 separate air paths or one. I don't think this guy knows what hes saying at all.

I've had FiTech on my show car for over to years now and my car Still Runs Like Crap. Every time I call the company in California it's a long wait and all they do is send you a email on downloading their new software. But the software does not work on a MacBook Pro. And that's all I have, So I will never buy FiTech EFI EVER again it's junk

Buy a nice carburetor like "Quick Fuel" and forget the FiTech bullshit. Also, carbs are cheaper to buy and fix, on the other hand, FiTech costs you lots of $$$$$$ to buy and fix it. I have an 81 Z/28 Camaro 800 HP with a Quick Fuel 850 CFM carburetor. WWaananggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg!!
