John, you are why I went with Fitech on my 73 AMC AMX 360, and you are why I enjoy driving it today. I had many of the same issues as you including vapor lock using the truly abominal Command Center and issues with the truly abysmal electrical connections to the handheld display. Worked through all the issues (without any help from Fitech) by just pushing on and tweaking settings little by little. Would i do it again? You bet. Any device capable of real- time analysis of multiple sensor data and real time compution and control to deliver a proper mix of fuel and air is gonna be a nightmare of complexity internally ; Fitech makes it about as easy as anyone could for us folks whith no automotive Engineering degree. Room for improvement? Absolutely. You pretty much covered it. So, please know that you and several other folks who take the time to share their experiences, good and bad, are why I still love this hobby. Thanks, ignore the haters, and keep letting us know of your progress.

I installed my FiTech due fuel percolation problems on warm summer days. I'm good with a carb, but just could not keep the fuel from boiling out of the accelator pump chamber on a new Holley 4160. I tried everything less a cold air system, which was my next move until I accidentally found the FiTech at a much lower price than traditional efi systems. I took the plunge and have been trying to make this work. Your videos have been incredibly help full. Hats off to you! The First Fitech go efi 4 kit I received worked for about 2 weeks with no actual on road driving of the truck. The unit went dead the first time the the engine heated up enough to start the fan relay at 185 degrees. Calling FiTech does take some time and it was very frustrating to have to through things again and have to return call several times. Definitely not happy with FiTech customer service. I finally had to send the unit back. Very disappointed after spending money on a damaged unit. When the new unit arrived, FiTech stated that they replaced the ecu with a newer "more robust" unit. So I had to reinstall an all new wiring harness because it was not the same as the first unit I received. The plugs were different size and were wired differently. My first question is ----- why is FiTech sending out "less robust" units in the first place? Why not send out the better quality unit to start with? I seems to me that FiTech has some older units that they need to move and will trouble shoot them as they go..... To continue, I have had few problems since the new ecu. Your videos have fixed nearly all of my problems. Thank you. The fuel percolation problem is not an issue due to fuel pressure and fuel tank return lines. The FiTech opperates totally different than a carb. I have no power increases and it runs nearly the same except that the throttle response seems slow as compared to a carb. One of your videos talks about changing that adjustment. I will try. I feel that your above video was a very fair evaluation of the Fi tech unit.....MM

I just installed my 4th FiTech system and we’ve learned a few things about it. Three were throttle body and one was the Ultimate LS kit. I have to say the LS kit is much better and easier to setup with a couple of exceptions. The 4L60E wouldn’t shift at all so I finally found out that you have to go in the speedometer correction and change the default setting which was 200. After I changed it to 400 it works great. The other issues is vacuum ports on the bottom of the intake and the side of the throttle body. The one on the throttle body points dead center of the throttle cable when you use their cable bracket which you have to buy separately. The fittings that come with it are straight and they point directly toward the valley cover so you have to get elbows for that but the next problem is that the 1/8” fittings aren’t NPT so I had to retap them too. Also until it warms up it sounds like a massive vacuum cleaner under the hood at idle but there is no leaks, it’s just the intake air. Other than those issues it runs awesome.

I own FITECH GO EFI 30003 since 2016 purchased from Summit Racing and its still running just fine up to now. The hardest to solve problem I encounter was when the RPM keep running high when engine is hot ... and the spark plug keeps failing once in a while. It turns out that I have to move the fuel filter from the engine bay to the back of my jeep near the fuel tank ... as when hot the mesh inside the fuel filter expands and cause a partially clogged situations .... and then the RPM is raising and also the A/F ratio becomes rich .... I saw this from the handheld controller and by inspecting the plug it was wet. I also put in a CDI box to prevent this from happening again ... ensure the fuel will burn on what ever the FITECH is throwing the A/F ratio ... makes it easier to trouble shoot problem ... I am using a Pertronix Digital HP 510 .. great product and running cool ... very happy with the box and my FITECH also .... since then the setup is bullet proof ... my jeep is a CJ7 year 1981 with XJ 4.0 inline six engine + Isky 282 cam with MOPAR valve spring to accomodate the cam valve lift ... FITECH EFI GO STREET 30003 and DAVIS DUI distributor with Pertronix HP 510 CDI box

To add a bit ... I think if you buy a more expensive system ... the problem will still be the same ... I mean hard to solve for me especially as I am not a mechanic and this is just a fun activity although sometimes turns out tube pain in the neck .... it takes me almost 8 months to solve the wet plug + clogged fuel filter issue ... I finally gave it up and try a last action by sending mail to FITECH support ... to my surprise they responded right away and helped me since then .....

Nice review. Most folks don’t understand what Fi-Tech has done to the fuel injection market. Price point, self learning throttle body injection has revolutionized the automotive aftermarket. Holley is no better in terms of support - although the brand name does create a calm about it. Let’s just state the facts, putting a sensitive piece of electronics on our shit boxes will have risks. Most people don’t design a fuel system or establish a ground plain that aids in these installations. Marketing has tainted the entire self learning platform with the word “easy”. I hate say it, some of us shouldn’t have wrenches in our hands. User error is likely in every installation. Just think of the phone calls these places get for support? It would you to drink. Great video and I appreciate your honest feedback!😊

I've watched quite a few of your videos about the FiTech and other things. I had planned on putting fuel injection on my bronco this month, but I'm pushing it back to the fall, after seeing the various issues that can come up. I was planning on doing the ProFlo4 because it seems like a good total package and pricewise is really no more than a FiTech or sniper when you add up the manifold, distributor, fuel pump, lines and other things. Now I'm looking forward to your ProFlo install. Keep up the good videos.

This is not an endorsement for any brand, I asked my mechanic if he knew anything about any of these systems. He has helped a number of customers and friends work thru issues with Holley, MSD, fitech, and edebrock. He recommended MSD based on his experience with 2 different vehicles. He was mainly impressed with their tech people. He says that overall the MSD was just easier to tune to the vehicle. In most cases problems were the fault of installer. Out of all the systems he helped with the fitech was the only one that got sent back. Installation issues we're mainly weak battery, weak alternator, bad grounds, and just bad wiring practices in general. His take is that any of these systems WANT to work but the install/conditions need to be perfect. I forgot to add this part: the first fitech he worked on was about 2 1/2 years ago, it got sent back. He did one about 6 months ago and the previous issues were gone.

My friend just picked up a 77 El Camino that has a new crate engine, rebuilt transmission, and new FiTech 400HP for $2500. Receipts show that the previous owner had put over $8000 into the car. I credit a botched FiTech installation for the owner becoming disenchanted with the project and dumping it. Upon initial inspection, the FiTech system appears to be installed correctly. The problems start where the engine wouldn't idle down below 1300 rpm, and it stumbles and stalls when driven. Also, the fuel pump whines and howls so loudly that it can be heard a hundred feet away over the engine and exhaust with no muffler. I think whoever installed the FiTech was treating it like a four barrel carburetor. We fixed the high idle by adjusting the rear butterfly plate shaft stop screw. It was turned in so far that is was simulating a vacuum leak, and the ECU was compensating the best it could. Now it will warm idle at 650 RPM, but it still randomly stumbles and stalls. The next issue to address is proper fuel delivery. The fuel pump and filters are not installed in accordance with the instructions. We'll put the pump and filter installation right, and verify that we have proper fuel pressure and volume delivery. The theory is that this will solve the stumble and stalling, and perhaps even quiet the fuel pump. I'm learning as I go by gleaning knowledge from KZbin channels like this one. Maybe this will end up a FiTech success story. It certainly wasn't for the previous owner.

I did the research, at Bronco days (Knotts Berry Farm) to see who had EFI and if it was do-able. What I found is port is better than manifold injection, the only hard part was where to mount the computer. Back then there was a lot of help from Ford Performance. Not so anymore. I installed roller rockers and lifters, used the Cobra Mustang setup into a 71 block. With the set up you can go from stock 200hp to 700hp just by changing the computer and a few parts, but it's stock. With the stock 200hp set up I get 21mpg. Have the 300hp set up but I got tired of burning rubber by accident. System runs great love it. Not everyone will be willing to go through the expense and hassle to wire the system in.

I feel your review is pretty on point. I have had my FiTech about 2 years and I know I have commented a few times on the FiTech. I will say this, until I took my car to someone who really knew the system, I felt like nothing I did was going in the right direction. It was stated to me that the more options you add to this system the harder it is to control.. ie. timing control etc.. Once found the sweet spot in the timing, everything seemed to come together with a little less effort.. There are a lot of people bashing the system, the people I talk to "SEMA, PRI, and car shows" generally have the same complaint 1. Controls are crappy, and adjusting is a pain" 2. the plugin to the controller is the worst. 3. with the base model, you can't hook a computer to it.. With the Holley Sniper, at least you can hook a computer to that one. I just want to say thank you for the videos, they have been a tremendous help in my situation and got me going in the appropriate direction till I found a tuner. Thank You !!

I installed a fitech 30005 on an admittedly very tired big block chev. I knew in the next couple of years I would be rebuilding the eng. The install was pretty simple and the vehicle fired right up. Not being an everyday driver it took a few drives to get it running good and I never did get the cold start worked out. Well I had maybe 1000 miles on the TBI, I was driving along great one minute and the next I was loosing power and found my self dead on the shoulder. My thought was , well Ive put to much power to this tired engine and I guess it finally couldn't take it any more. After a tow home I was thinking I would find water in a cylinder or something like that. After pulling the plugs and not seeing anything unusual I did a compression test. Again found nothing there other than low compression ( 122 - 129 lbs. same as the last test ). Well the following week My wife was diagnosed with cancer, so the vehicle was put on the back burner for a year. After she won her battle and things got back to normal I decided it was time to pull the eng and do the rebuild I was planning. I never did find anything out of the ordinary upon teardown that would have caused the eng. to fail. Now Im starting to wonder about the EFI, but at this point I continue on and head to the machine shop with my block. Well then covid became an issue and the engine sat at the machine shop for another year before they finished there work . Well after finally getting it put back together and breaking it in on a holley carb, it was time to put the fitech back on...it wouldn't run beyond idle. I found it was soaking the plugs and the smell of fuel was evident. because of it being over two years now I have no recourse and I decided to switch to a Sniper. Runs great now. Anybody want to buy a 30005 fitech with about 1000 miles let me know .

Are you using the fiTech Command Center? It seems some people are having an issue with the pump running too much and heating up and boiling the fuel causing vapor lock. I found this on a forum post: ...spoke to him again today and (in his words) due to my feedback (and complaining), on all the new EFI setups, there will be another parameter to set on the EZ Start menu. It will be Pulse Width Management percentage setting for the fuel pump. Supposedly all of their EFI setup's PWM default to higher settings, normally only used for an external, or intank, pump withat a return lin used. The FCC pump is a dead headed 340lph, compared to most common external, or intank pumps being 255lph, or even 340lph with a return. The 340lph dead heading FCC pump overheats, which boils fuel out of the vent, which then blocks the venting process....a snowball effect. Actually makes perfect sense...

Like the review. Fitech is way easier to set up over running something like a stock ecu with hptuners.

I'm actually going to edelbrock avs2 carb. My Fitech has not been good for me. Was a pain to get it set up to where it was running decent,I even copied most of your settings for my 302. Then it got to be inconsistent. One day it would start and run great, the next it would backfire and die while I was driving. After all of that I'm just going with what I can afford at the moment, which is carb. Maybe later on I can get the motor freshened up and depending on your opinion on the pro Flo 4 I may go that route. Thanks for all the vids👍

The early fitech did honestly have some interface issues and connection problems ...I had similar problems also fitech was cool about I did a pro-rated exchange ...they wanted it for some R&D to see what had failed ....and my second fitech has been trouble free so far and honestly I think it runs better this time around

Think I have read THOUSANDS of comments on these FI setups especially this one, seems Fitech would have a UPFRONT chest sheet to check off AS you install, the top maybe 20 problems SOLVED in the sheet. Believe I'm going with the GM setup from howellefi that DOESN"T have or require the owner to input stuff

Wish I read this last year and left feedback then, but I agree on the review except on hp, I give it a 7 of 10. I have had mine also since 2015, first 4 years with their fuel control center and this last year with in tank efi. The controller is it's downfall. All the parts that for into an fitech other than the injectors and the map sensor are off shelf Bosch, GM or VW late model parts. Power wise I did not see an overall jump, but I did have a quadrajet carburetor (most folks hate them) which worked really well on my Pontiac except for cold starts and the typical carburetor random issues like heat soak or float bowl stickyness. As for the temp sender, I never had an issue but I had one of the earlier units. I know in the 2017-2018 timeframe the sniper efi's also had temp sender issues, I suspect the company that made them in china put out a bad batch that effected everyone. Since I got a tanks in in-tank fuel pump I gained better throttle response. I always have a slight delay as compared to the carburetor but that made the biggest improvement so far. I think the fuel control center being powered by the fitech meant that there was a slight drop when you first hit the throttle for the fcc to adjust back to 58psi. With the in tank system it always provides 58psi regardless of how much fuel the fitech pulls. I am still reducing the pre start pump prime time, I have it set to 4 seconds and I think it's excessive. It may only need 1-2 seconds, you can hear the pump pressurize pretty quick.

when i first bought it and tried to start engine gas was pouring all over the place fuel injectors were not installed correctly called customer support and they said just take it apart and fix it yourself. ok i did a better job than they did and it worked 1yr later i had to change out the battery now the fuel pump wont run checked fuses no power out of throttle body you can jump fuel pump and engine will run like normal so crummy relay in throttle body has failed most likely will be told it fix it myself again

Unfortunately, and alot of times, the negativity is coming from absolute amateur installation and skill sets. Or just not a real good understanding of how the systems work. And that frustration is translated into negativity to the product.
