I'm a Memphis fan and I said our main advantage is our coach (who was Norvells OLine coach and currently HC at memphis) knows how Norvell coaches and his schemes. Norvell hasn't evolved, maybe it would still work in the G5 but not at FSU. Norvell had some teams at Memphis with a great talent pool in Tony Pollard,Antonio Gibson, Darrel Henderson, anthony miller and great QBs. Coaches have to evolve. What works at one school in a lower division will jot work at a premier University like FSU. He was great last year with a solid veteran team and QB in Travis. Since Travis' injury, his coaching has been below mediocre. Because he hasn't evolved or put in a scheme that best fits that QB and team. Adam.Fuller is not a good D Coordinator. His defense at Memphis was atrocious. I pray to God FSU can turn it around this season foe the sake of Memphis

I thought he would win 10 games or so every now and then, but I never thought he would always have be a national power year in and out. The reason I say this is because he has never coached at a big time program and don't know what big time recruiting looks like. Recruiting has shown that over his tenure.

They gave him too much many when Saban retired, they are stuck with him. This could set the program back 5 years like the Florida Gators becuase this season is impacting recruiting wich will make it even harder moving forward to be promininent like FSU of old. Either keep him and settle with being a above average, fringe acc title contender, or pull the plug, eat the cost and try to find the guy that will get it back to FSU being national title contenders.

Too big of buyout. Coach N has been good for program. Is there a “play” clause in some of these NIL transfer students contracts? It appears that way or our depth is non existent. If he is forced out I’m thinking Prime is a candidate but I like the Gus bus better. Currently, do we even have a dual threat QB? DJ is probably QB1 but provides no run threat. O line is a mystery. We struggle to block our bread and butter counter trey and our OT’s haven’t figured out the fastest way to the QB for edge rushers is inside. A lot of our sacks are direct paths to QB. Makes absolutely no sense (9th grade mistake and fixable). Toafili (5.5 ypc) and Lucas (6.5 ypc) need more touches. Lucas doing returns? Run more stick, mesh and hitches to make it easier on QB and OL. Our DBs have too many coverage busts. Cal will make us look like Swiss cheese if we don’t fix this. We play SLOW! Slow to adjust slow to react especially at QB, LB and DB. DL is also a mystery. If we have a 4-5 star from UGA getting a huge # of snaps and a 3 star from Colorado State getting much less snaps but they statistically have the same number of tackles how does that work? The bid name experiment has failed and should be OVER! at this point, play your players with best stats and game grades and let’s GO! Coach these guys up and don’t worry about feelings or next year’s transfer portal.

Plain and simple, FSU needs to go after Lane Kiffin, should have went after him hard after they fired Taggart, he would have everything he needed to keep FSU at an elite level every year, if Florida ends up getting Kiffin and Mario has Miami turned around now, FSU could be in deep trouble because Kiffin with Florida and Miami would kill it on the recruiting trail. FSU job wouldn't be to big for Kiffin like it is Norvell, just think about this, Norvell has started 3 of his 5 seasons with at least 2 straight losses, 1 of the seasons was 4 straight, this year 3 straight so far. Ive said it from the beginning that FSU job is way to big for Norvell

The best recruiters are also excellent coaches. Kids coming out of High School aren't committing to the school. They are committing to that coach because they believe that coach can get them to the NFL. If they believe he can do that then he's a good recruiter. For a lot of kids, it's every bit as important as how far the school is from home, NIL, and path to playing time (and most will never have an NFL career).

Its hard to pin the blame on any one thing. But these are the big ones. NIL and transfer portal changed the game. Guys are getting paid and seem very uninterested. Kids you recruit leave for a starting spot instead of waiting their turn. Tate is a great example. If you cant have a kid whos been there 4 years ready, thats a problem. And 2, no one mentions this. I live in MI, and have heard it for months. If DJU was worth anything, Jonathan Smith would have brought him to MSU. Smith could have made it a condition. Get DJ what he wants to come. Think about it. Most new coaches would want a qb who knows there system

I think the problem is the type of pro style QB they signed. Brady White wasn't mobile, but he was really accurate, fairly quick delivery, and had a good IQ as far as not turning the ball over and making poor throws. DJU doesn't have those intangibles. I just don't understand why they settled. Missing on Ward, there were still better options than DJU. McCord, or even a Maalik Murphy, who transferred to Duke would be much better. I was convinced Mike couldn't lead FSU to a natty. Last season changed that, assuming he'd improve the staff & recruiting. But I just don't think he's that guy, he's too loyal to staff. Most of his coaches at Memphis got hired away, so he was forced to replace them. Well, no one wants his FSU coaches, so I can't see him making a change unless he's forced by the AD. The fact that no one is trying to hire away his staff should be telling to him that they aren't good.

Wow! All the "Is Norvell the guy" talk!! Really? Last season was pretty good!! Nobody talking that then!! Most programs would KILL for a season like that. 13-0 - Coach of the Year!! ACC champs! Not helping by being a hater after an awful start. There are many programs that would love to have Norvell as their coach!!

if anyone looked at his career at Memphis it was ebbs and flows with him. win 8 then 10 then win 8 then 12. it wasn't a constant flow. thinking about Urban he was 17-6 at Bowling Green and i believe 22- at Utah so he had a history of upward trajectory. I never thought he could be the man here. i thought he was our Mark Richt

I like norvell but if he's gonna stay he's got put the right people around him 1000 percent and if there was ever a time you wanted deion his kids be gone to nfl problem is huge ass buyout

As a Miami fan, I tried to have a factual conversation with some Noles fans about Norvell and his reliance on the transfer portal. If you don't undergird your roster with great recruits, the portal is only a temporary fix. None of those fans wanted to listen to me. It has nothing to do with fandom and everything to do with knowledge of the game. You must RECRUIT! Deion will find out the same thing at Colorado,

Th misconception is that this staff chooses not to recruit HS at a high level and prefers TP. The fact is the staff CANNOT recruit HS, they just can’t, so success in the portal is by necessity not preference. If this staff, and most staffs for that matter, had a choice they choose HS over portal every time all day every day twice on Sundays.

Miami has had one less transfer portal player signed than FSU.

@@edl7454 our evals are significantly better and most have worked out. i will just leave it at that. the Loafer man is great at evaluating talent

@@edl7454 do you mean this year or for the duration of Norvell's tenure? My point is to look at the final rankings of the last 3 classes of FSU and Miami.

There were upper deck empty sections at LSU-SC. Gaming industry laying off. 0-3 doesn't help.😢
@michaelbee2165Ай бұрын
@@DanielMartin-gv5uc I'm having trouble seeing how FSU's 0-3 start has anything to do with attendance at LSU-SC or gaming industry layoffs. FSU is a major brand. No doubt about it. But not THAT major. 😂

I worry about the future. Last season it seemed like Florida state was Florida's best program. All of a sudden not so sure. Miami is killing it, even Florida has better young talent especially at QB. I don't like the makeup of Florida states roster and recruiting going forward

Recruiting....that's going to be discussed in the live show at 4 pm EST
@timkinley1779Ай бұрын
So you can't build a team around the portal? Starting to see the light for giving scholarships that have not much interest in the actual program. They don't have any pride in the jersey, just the check.

I thought he would win 10 games or so every now and then, but I never thought he would always have be a national power year in and out. The reason I say this is because he has never coached at a big time program and don't know what big time recruiting looks like. Recruiting has shown that over his tenure.
