Normalizing these multi-million dollar contracts to play a game (regardless of sport), when the average salary in North America is well-under $100k/year, is playing in to the owners hands, because at the end, we fans fund it all! The owners don't lose, and the players don't lose. We do, paying hundreds for a seat, $30 beers (last time I checked in Toronto), not to mention the eye-gauging that happens with merchandise... but its our fault (as fans) because like idiots we keep paying even when we can't afford it, and if you're in Toronto, to watch a bunch of millionaires not win since '67... i really wish there was a union, like the NHLPA, to fight for fans in these agreements... but im willing to bet millions the Players and Owners would oppose it!

The chip on Mayfield shoulder started way back when he was in high school here in Austin TX where I live. He wanted to go to Texas for college and Texas basically told him to get lost. Since then he has claimed tons of individual trophies but he has been bitter as a person ever since. He sees himself as a superstar who hasn't been given the credit it seems.
