I’m fluent in both languages and I gotta admit that French is MUCH harder regarding grammar, even pronunciation could be tricky sometimes, but it is only a matter of hard work and practice guys

French is « easy » to learn if you want to speak the « basics » of the language, but trust me, it will take you several years at least to write anything without any mistakes. I’m french, but I still make some mistakes in a french essay at the age of 18 and being native. And that happens to nearly all of french people, I mean it’s common to find a “conjugaison” mistake in a text. :)

I think the hardest part is definitely the writing. One of the things that hampered me from learning French faster is that I didn't find interesting content as easy as with English. For example, I just found some musics in French that I like, while that in English I have a huge variety of songs I am addicted.

The first time i took the task of learning french without taking classes i decided i wanted to learn it all by my self i didn't only found it difficult to learn due to the pronunciation, i found it very tricky french as everyone knows is not phonetic like its cousins languages ;spanish, portuguese, italian&Romanian french &portuguese are nasal languages, but french is even more nasal than portuguese once you get the hang of it &learn how to pronounce it then it gets lot easier for sure french is a beautiful language & i am very passionate about it in spite of a lot of frustration i wiil master the language sooner or later je pense que j'ai ameliore ma pronunciation je sais que je peux parles francaise couramment!!!

I always had much more difficulties in learning French than in learning Chinese. 😄 And one reason is definetely that Chinese grammar is much easier than French grammar! And as a native and teacher in the German language I know exactly about difficult grammar. In fact I've started learning French in the age of 10 years (16 years ago), but the older I got the less I used the language anymore. So I actually never got to the point to speak the language fluently. On the other hand I've started learning Chinese just 4/5 years ago and I am very fluent now and that's mostly because I now use Chinese every single day. Would I say Chinese is easier than French in general? Well, it depends... (on what means difficult for you personally). It's excactly as you said, you need to spend a lot of time learning the language and you need to be passionate about thelanguage. That's the most important thing to learn a new language. 😊

Your default pronunciation of your French works sounds really good, especially for three years. Maybe because your English is Dutch/British? Especially because you're saying other languages are easier. With my American English I really have to try to make my French words sound more the way the French would pronounce it.

The difficulties of French are :,YOU : say blah blah blah. ME : huh? Hmmmm, dunno. YOU write it. ME: oh! Ok. That’s easy. The problem is the huge gap between the saying and writing - reading! Loooads of letters are not pronounced , plus the IRRAGULAR verbs. So here u go, voila!

A Frenchman takes nine years to acquire the basis of grammar, it takes twelve years to reach the level of standard French, provided that he is gifted. Only a quarter of the French population speaks French correctly, for spelling it is a disaster, and for syntax we wonder if they understand what they say. There are several types of French, written French and spoken French, divided into family, popular French, slang, standard, literary and scholar, the ordinary spoken can not be written because there are difficulties to express the elisions . When you learn French, you learn standard French, that of journalists, radio and television presenters, politicians as well as communication managers of companies or private or public organizations. Do not forget that the French language is the most precise in the world. Remember also that forgetting an accent or a binding can completely change the meaning of a sentence, for example: "L'animal s'enfuit dès qu'on avait ouvert la porte" (the animal flees as soon as the door was opened), if you do not not the link of "qu'on-avait" had "the sentence must be written "L'animal s'enfuit, des cons avaient ouvert la porte" (the animal flees, some idiots had opened the door) and the sentence becomes a rudeness (the English translation does not exactly reflect the meaning of the sentence).

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Shantelle. I have been learning french on my own and I must say that it has been pretty hard. One of the problems i'm having is that french speakers, speak too fast and as result of that you cant quite understand what they are saying.. and also, the pronounciations of some words with the letter " R" have become overbearing! The french " R" literally hurt my throat.

There is nothing more for a language to make it more difficult.
