I visited Gambia Oct. 2021 from Oakland, CA. I LOVED IT is an understatement. I agree wholeheartedly with the space to think comment. It is a slower pace and I love that. The beaches are MAJESTIC to say the least, the people are super duper friendly (and beautiful!!!). I came back home changed. I cannot put my finger on what changed exactly but I am changed and people are mentioning it....go figure. I would move there in a heartbeat but the healthcare is not up to par for me personally. I wish I could live there. I will go visit again one day soon though.

How do you live? Renting ? How do you finance the move? Income. These are things that must be discussed before one can say Gambia is viable.
@summersinafrica2 жыл бұрын
Renting is an option as well as building. Just depends on what the person moving is able to afford. Financing the move would be done by saving. Good credit is of no use in Gambia. Things are payed for with cash. It's another benefit though...easier to stay out of debt.
@deangayle94332 жыл бұрын
My opinion is 2 months is very little time to make a full evaluation on the aspects to living in the Gambia. Yes its very peaceful and your experience is true but you have to consider your income, and thats a different topic all together. The wages are approximately $25 a month and the economy is very slow in the Gambia. The Gambia is mostly a Muslim country and sits well with most Muslims. Finally Africa is massive place and the Gambia is a very small country and its definitely worth visiting other countries before making your evaluation as many of the pros and cons you have mentioned in this video can be experienced in other African countries. Putting that aside the Gambia is a calm place. Yes crime has gone up since Jammeh left and the infrastructure should be a topic spoken about as the Gambia has a very long way to go compared to other African countries. Anyway well done for making this video. 👍🏾

Greetings Summers in Africa, from the awesome time you and your families are having, I am thinking definitely yes Gambia is the place be. You don’t have to worry about your kids being harassed by the police and bullying by other students as well as gang interactions. I agree with you, that the food does look indeed organic and very delicious as I am a vegetarian.. I agree that health is one the most important thing in a person’s life. The Sun is indeed our friend. Saving is easy there mostly due to the low cost of living and the power of the dollars and being Fugal. Can’t to purchase your book. Thanks for sharing.

Asalaam Alaikum Sister... Welcome to the Gambia! I love the Gambia and mostly agree with you.. I do want to address the food. Many use chemical fertilizer.. and much food is imported. If you are near the beach.. really watch your children around the tourists.

I’m coming in March for the first time. But would love to stay with a family living basically for a few weeks. Good for my brain. This is the way I want to live.
