In pursuit of identity, every generation takes things a bit further than the last. Whether its pushing boundaries, breaking norms, or rejecting stereotypes, each generation seeks a seperate identity from the previous. They also seek seperate places where this kind of group-think is performed. For older people, this was done at arcades and malls, for younger, websites and specific apps. Gen z was raised in response to a world created by the prior generation. But the group's identity was created solely by the group's members in a space selected & gatekept by those same members. Y'all decided who to be. It's very gen-z to try and blame others though.

@@SozioTheRogueno it is BS. People used to have to go outside and hang with friends in order to interact with them. Now you've got people who never make the effort to go outside or have hobbies complaining they are so lonely because they are always on their phones. And if you have depression the worst thing you can do is constantly go on about it and feed into it. On some level yes ignoring your depression is bad but constantly going on about it is worse. Same with say body image issues. You are constantly going "I don't like this I don't like that" well if course you aren't going to like it if you keep telling yourself you don't like it. And the amount of people who complain thinking they have this issue or that issue is insane. They don't know what it really means to have a mental health issue. I cried 3 times = "I'm depressed". I don't like my nose = "I have body dysmorphia". I feel uncomfortable in my body = "I'm trans". No you are just going through hormonal changes that everybody else goes through when they are teenagers. You aren't special and your issues aren't special. And very very rarely do they develop into something more.
@SozioTheRogue Жыл бұрын
@laetifico you don't seem to understand humans. You are only thinking about the people who complain on the internet. EVERYONE isn't complaining on the internet. Everyone has a reason for why they feel the way they do. Simply brushing it off and saying they are just complaining to complain is not how you help. You help by listening to those who genuinely reach out for help. There is a difference from those who do it for attention and those who do it because they honestly don't know how to help themselves. Some were abused, some were neglected, some dealt with minor or major bullying, some even cause their own mental issues accidentally or purposefully. It doesn't matter how, as long as they are willing to at least try to help themselves we all need to help as well. Encouraging others to lift themselves up is the first step, no matter how many time it takes. It may be annoying, it may even piss you off, but it's worth it. Don't think lump Everyone in with the minority of attention seeking assholes online. Also, you have to remember, people posting online for any reason is literally for attention for whatever it is because attention brings views and views brings money. So there's that too. Questions, do you have any plans to help the world around you in any significant way?

Hot take: the younger generation will always be worse because they dont understand what came before and will therefore take a lot more for granted. Our grandfathers and grandmothers see that we take access to information for granted, while their grandparents see them take access to appliances and vehicles for granted. We will continue to make things easier and more efficient, and therefore, those who grow up with such ease and efficiency will appear to be less productive or successful than the generations before, because they simply dont have to do as much. 20 years from now, we will see how easy the next generation has it and say, "you dont know what real struggle is" because our generation took the steps to make sure that they dont have to struggle, and thats the real take away from this We should be glad that the next generations have it easier and can be lazier, because that means the generations before did what they needed to do to make that happen.

@The_EclecticSkeptic Жыл бұрын
It's easy to get caught up in our own thoughts and adopt a self-focused view, especially when comparing ourselves to others. We might find ourselves thinking, 'This person seems to have something better than what I have, so why are they complaining? If I had what they have, I'd be perfectly happy!' However, this way of thinking fails to acknowledge the individuality of our experiences and the unique challenges and circumstances that each person faces. It also disregards the fact that what appears enviable from the outside might not reveal the full picture. There could be other underlying factors in that person's life that we are unaware of, i.e in genZ's lonliness being a HUGE factor.

Anyone who would seriously call an entire cohort of people "the worst generation ever" is one of the worst people ever. Look, you GenZers: my generation got it too (Millennial). Learn fast that there are always going to be people out there who totally hate you. It just doesn't matter. Learn a martial art, be dangerous but kind, and keep building yourself to be the best in your own eyes and the eyes of those around you who care about you -- assuming you all have your true best interest at heart. To be honest, I generally actually tend to have more respect for people who happen to come from GenZ than I do Millennials. It just happens that a lot of poor parenting practices come from GenX. People said the same thing about 70s, 80s and 90s kids because of their rebellious behavior. I don’t think it’s ever fair to call the youngest generation the worst generation because we were given this world. We had to be kids once, so there are just going to be new problems from either mistakes or things we never knew could lead to such issues down the line. We were small, little that just happened to have the internet with us as we grew up. How could we know it would eventually do so much in our lives if we never knew anything at all? We were given a world from kids who would always be getting into trouble, listened to music about living in terrible conditions that “promoted” bad behavior despite it just being what you see when you peek outside the curtains anyway, and even that much was a result of the world they were given to grow up in. Stop blaming the youngest generation, and just work with us because we all have to live here either way. We all want the best for the next generation, and complaining about how you don’t understand them won’t help the world get any better. We are only a result of your choices and the world that is given to us. We didn’t make everything the second we came out the womb.

In my case with social skills, it had absolutely nothing to do with social media because I never even used anything other than KZbin until 8th grade. I lost social skills and confidence after 6th grade because the way I was treated, and nobody ever talked to me because I was the only kid that didn’t want to do the same thing everyone else was doing. I was just put back so many times by things I couldn’t control like having to move and covid. Ever since that, I’ve made progress, but I never felt understood when it came to my mental health, and I for sure didn’t feel like I could trust anyone to help because nobody ever listened to me, and now I’m sensitive to protect myself from the way people treat me, and I have mental health issues because nobody ever understood them until recent years when everybody started noticing these problems. We weren’t taken seriously with the accumulation of how all these issues caused the next the same way we didn’t know these issues caused the next. And guess who didn’t understand them because they never had to deal with them, nor did their time even have accurate information about mental health?

@prodigyshark1204 I haven't interacted enough with any of them in any meaningful capacity to give you an informed opinion. In general society has been gradually getting more inclusive and open minded since the 60's starting with boomers beginning equal rights for blacks and women, GenX beginning gay acceptance in the 90's, Millenials really ramping up gay acceptance in the 00's and 10's and now GenZ really leading the charge with the entire LGBTIQA+ spectrum. There is still horrible bigotry of course but I've noticed that improvements have clearly taken place over my lifetime. I think it's safe to say this trajectory will continue with GenA and I wish them the best to continue it and pass their values onto the next generation to further strengthen love and respect for everyone.

Yep being apart of gen z. I can see why we are seen as the one of the worst generations. I can agree. I dont like being a gen z person myself. Most of my friends spend time on the computer more than actually hanging out. We were born in a enviroment where the problems the internet caused hasnt been well documented. We fell for it. Tik tok etc. We spend most of our time online and the only thing we know to fill our lives is doing stuff online. 50/50 is our fault and the enviroment we were born in. Society had quite degraded. Any past generations havent faced such problems as us. Loneliness. Jobless. No school. Yes there are problems that other generations have faced but never to this extent caused by the internet. I blame social media for spreading false info, braindead content, and a whole bunch of nut jobs. Gen Z grew up with this and were therefore highly influenced by it. Social media is fun and all, but it's gotten to the point where everyone is addicted to it. Most times it's unhealthy, especially for those who have nothing else going on. It's not Gen Z's fault, it's not the parents fault either, it's just the circumstance of being influenced by social media at such a young age. Personally, I believe social media isn't for young children who need to grow and develop their brains a little. I'd be fine giving them social media when they're like twelve.
