A battle is being fought to save Berlin's techno scene. When the Berlin Wall came down nearly thirty years ago, part of the city center opened up to techno fans, who created some of electronic music's hottest clubs with their raves. But with big property developers eyeing the area, many say Berlin's club culture is under threat.

@@originellername3062 : its the high rents that the clubs have to pay, even during the crown virus..., the berlin city politicans probably do not want too save *techno history* currywurst or anything else, just gentrify the enitre city, even kruzberg and fredich are rapidly changing,..... the DDR is so long ago.....* the palace of the republik has gone, the humboldt forum has replaced it, soon very few clubs will exist in the city that has made nightlife *infamous since at least 1900* 1920*1990... kitcatklub, berghain,tresor and many others may need *berlin government too assist even them*...

They can close clubs as many as they want, techno will always find a new way and survive. We've build this out of nothing and have been forced out of the way so many times that we have become masters in survival and reinventing ourselves. Every club there is, has been build out of this spirit and new clubs and spaces will emerge out of this.

Robin Östringer I’m not old and I’m not a man. You don’t think the whole thing is a cliché now? The beach bars, run down shacks for atmospheric purposes etc etc. It’s all beige at this stage. I love dance music and Berlin but it has been gentrified and with that the vibe has a falseness about it.

I think many of you guys, I'd say most of you, just want to really feel unique, alternative and special. This whole thing you say "nowadays they are all the same blablabla", is just another way to pump up your status in the "uniqueness hierarchy game".

Yes, I do, I'm always going to the club sober, if you don't like techno sober you can't like it even you are high, it's all about music, you like it or you don't. For me it's always about vibes and feeling, I'm getting high usually from my emotions when I just hear the music I like, that's it. P.S. don't follow the stereotypes. 😊✌️

Unfortunately, Techno never reached its potential in the '90s. It may have been big in Germany, but it never really crossed over in the American market. It should have been the sound of the '90s, instead we got "grunge". Honestly, most popular music today doesn't even show any influence from Techno. It's as if it never happened. In 2019, it's long since time to move on to the next big thing. Techno is soooo 1991.

I agree, even if I like some techno I must admit that it's musically too poor and repetitive and it became very strict in terms of sonic expression as well as being unbearably pretentious given the amount of hipsters infesting the scene
@cyvoc2316
@cyvoc2316 4 жыл бұрын
Techno is still "big" in Europe.....especially in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium. Here we have so many nice small clubs, it is awesome. America never had this kind of club culture. But yeah, techno in Europe is not as big as pop or r'n'b or hip hip, of course....because techno has this underground flair. Many many europeans love techno, but techno is not "popular". And that is good. Keeps the scene alive.
@originellername3062
@originellername3062 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheTrancemaster90 exept of the lack of vocals techno is way less repetitive then todays mainstream music like rap or pop where the same 8 bar loop is repeated over and over again. A good techno song is always evolving and sets you on a musical journey with its simplicity, predictability and surprises. If you like "sonic expression" check out umek or boris brejcha
